A Call From Japan

[21:03] <@Isaiah> ["I hate costumes." Muttered Dorian.-
[21:07] <@Isaiah> [The command centre of NERV HQ was quiet, mostly empty, except for himself, the Vice-Commander, and the two remaining bunnies. Marianne was looking quite magnificent, dressed in a Napoleon Bonaparte costume, right down to the white tights and the incredible hat, whilst Frederic had plundered what had seemed to be an old French military depot- and had come as Charles de Gaulle.-
[21:08] <@Isaiah> ["I think it suits you, Dorian." Said Thomas, who had come in his own uniform, because duty is never on holiday.-
[21:09] <@Isaiah> [But Dorian -had- worn a costume, of course. It had been demanded of him, and furthermore, he had lost a bet to Frederic. So he had come, wearing an extravagant top hat, a Victorian-era dress jacket and trousers, with a monocle. He had foregone the cane, because that was just a little insulting.-
[21:10] <@Isaiah> ["You should've gone as Bismarck." Said Marianne reproachfully.-
[21:11] <@Isaiah> ["I refuse to go as Bismarck. Fuck him, he was Prussian."-
[21:11] <@Isaiah> ["Racist."-
[21:12] <@Isaiah> ["I refuse to dress up as someone from a country who called their noble class 'Junkers'. I refuse." Grumbled Dorian. "Anyway. Any word from the interception net?"-
[21:12] <@Isaiah> ["No sir. All quiet." Said Marianne.-
[21:14] <@Isaiah> ["An Angel attack right now would be a disaster." Said Thomas gruffly. "Our pilots are not at combat readiness… Probably drunk by now." He added disapprovingly.-
[21:16] <@Isaiah> ["Yanmei wouldn't get drunk." Said Marianne loftily. "She's too professional for that."-
[21:18] <@Isaiah> ["Oh, come off it, Mary. Isaiah just woke up. She probably wants to cut loose after, what, eight weeks mooning over his comatose body?" Said Frederic. "It's what I'd do."-
[21:18] <@Isaiah> ["Not even then!" Said Marianne… Albeit a little uncertainly.-
[22:11] <Isaiah> [Several hours passed without incident in the headquarters. At a few points, Dr. Clement (dressed as a plague doctor) swung by, along with Dr. Castillo-Delgado (Sigmund Freud). Dr. Riel (Marie Curie) appeared with her tiger (wearing a cute blue bonnet), and, out of boredom, had a table tennis table brought up to the command centre, where she challenged the command crew to a no-holds-barred game.-
[22:21] <Isaiah> [… Something beeped.
[22:21] <Isaiah> ["…? Huh, what's that?" Asked Marianne, heading over to the command consoles. "… Vice-Commander, we're receiving a message from NERV Japan."]
[22:24] <Isaiah> ["… From Japan? Put it through."-
[22:26] <Ikari‘Gendo> [The Holographic screen flickered for a moment, before crystallising into an image- an older man with a thick jawline beard, orange glasses, and an unbuttoned NERV uniform jacket. His white-gloved hands were clasped in front of him, obscuring his mouth. He did not seem very amused.]
[22:28] <Isaiah> ["Director Ikari." Said Leon Thomas, nodding politely. "What can we do for you?"-
[22:29] <Ikari`Gendo> "EVA-05 has yet to arrive at Tokyo-2." Said Ikari in clipped, curt tones. "I was told it departed Paris-2 on the 20th. Why hasn’t it arrived yet?"
[22:33] <Isaiah> ["It hasn't arrived?" Asked Thomas, clearly surprised. "But we received a report from Tokyo-2's MAGI that EVA-05 had arrived five days ago."]
[22:33] <Ikari‘Gendo> "…"
[22:33] <Isaiah> ["…" Dorian suddenly turned his head towards Marianne. "Marianne, I want reports on the last known location of the EVA-05 task force."-
[22:40] <Isaiah> ["The last report we had was of EVA-05’s task force reporting in, 280 kilometres east of Midway Island." Said Marianne. "After that, all reports were sent to the MAGI in Tokyo-2."-
[22:42] <Ikari‘Gendo> "EVA-05 has definitely not arrived." Said Ikari. "There is only one alternative."-
[22:42] <Isaiah> ["One alternative?" Asked Dr. Castillo-Delgado. "The ship was lost…?!"-
[22:45] <Isaiah> [Dorian took a single puff of his cigarette, before crushing it on his wheelchair ashtray. "No. If it were lost, NERV Tokyo-2 wouldn’t have received any reports at all. This…" He sighed. "This has all the markings of an active plot."-
[22:45] <Isaiah> ["A-An active plot?!"]
[22:46] <Ikari‘Gendo> "Someone has falsified MAGI reports. Furthermore, the shipment bearing my s-… Bearing the Sixth Child has not arrived. The only alternative is to assume it has been attacked and destroyed, or, even worse, stolen."
[22:50] <Isaiah> [The command centre was silent.-
[22:50] <Isaiah> ["A Fallen Angel event is one of the worst case scenarios." Muttered Thomas. "This… How could this have happened?"]
[22:51] <Ikari`Gendo> "The infiltration of NERV is deeper than expected." Growled Ikari. "For them to falsify MAGI reports means that NERV’s security has been compromised on nearly every level."
[22:56] <Isaiah> ["Major?" Said Marianne worriedly. "Trying to raise the task force… Is failing. They're definitely gone."-
[22:56] <Isaiah> ["Damnit." Muttered Dorian.-
[22:56] <Isaiah> ["Then… I'll go inform Fontaine." Said Thomas. "This whole evening has really gone to shit."]
[22:57] <Ikari‘Gendo> "I expect this will be taken care of, Vice-Commander?" Said Ikari curtly. "We cannot tolerate this."
[22:59] <Isaiah> ["Certainly, Director Ikari. Leave it to us."]
[23:00] <Ikari`Gendo> "Then I shall do so." The holographic screen vanished.-
[23:02] * Ikari`Gendo was alone, alone in his office in Tokyo-2’s Minifront. He leaned back in his chair, took off his glasses, and rubbed his face.-
[23:02] <Ikari‘Gendo> "The Sixth Child lost, Sensei." Murmured Ikari. "EVA-05 in enemy hands. This is a disaster."
[23:04] <Ikari`Gendo> [Kozo Fuyutsuki frowned pensively. "EVA-05 is our last chance. The last trump of all humanity. To lose this now…"-
[23:05] <Ikari`Gendo> "Yes." Ikari frowned, his thick eyebrows knotted and brooding. "The Eigenhart Initiative is almost certainly to blame for this. If Azariah Caine has access to a modern Evangelion, then the Angels will soon be the least of our worries."
[23:07] <Ikari`Gendo> ["So we know it’s him, then?"]
[23:08] <Ikari‘Gendo> "Who else would it be?" Muttered Ikari. "Out of all the units to steal… They couldn’t have stolen 06. They stole 05 and the Sixth Child- the entire lynchpin behind the Ayanami Plan…"
[23:09] <Ikari‘Gendo> ["The timing -is- suspect. But, then again… Spies." Fuyutsuki stared out a window. "The UN Navy is stretched thin trying to assist in battles against the Liberated Nations… They knew when to strike."]
[23:11] <Ikari`Gendo> "Mm." Ikari was silent for a moment. "I wish to be alone for now, Sensei."
[23:11] <Ikari`Gendo> ["I understand." Fuyutsuki bowed. "I will return when you call for me." The man proceeded out into the elevator- and was gone.]
[23:12] * Ikari`Gendo closed his eyes, took off his glasses. He leaned back in his chair tiredly, a stern man now weakened and tired. "Shinji." He muttered hoarsely. "Rei…"-
[23:12] <Ikari`Gendo> Gendo’s hand began to tremble, just a little. "… I should go home. Yui has to know."
