Allies Obscurity

[06:10] <Minaplo> ["… And Plug is secure."-
[06:11] <Minaplo> [EVA-00's rear hump was sealed, the head moving back into place sluggishly. The platform was already pushing the Evangelion back into its cage.-
[06:12] <Minaplo> [With a hiss, the Entry Plug released its LCL, the hatch opening, allowing Aline to leave the Plug- and with it, what had been a general failure.]
[06:16] * SyntaxTerror is now known as Sept
[06:17] * Aline was busy adjusting to the atmosphere, else she would've probably sighed rather longly in obvious frustration. She had requested a sync test out of concern that she was slipping, but - of course - her ratio was still relatively stable, so there wasn't /that/ to be concerned about. No, instead, as she started to walk towards the showers and changing rooms, Aline thought of her abject
[06:17] * Aline failure to harvest any information of use. Either she wasn't 'deep' enough for 00 to give her anything good, or it didn't know. Alas.
[06:26] <Minaplo> [Aline would be allowed to shower and change in peace- but it would be when she emerged that she'd finally encounter someone- Doctor Surov, looking impatient as he waited, apparently for her.]
[06:31] * Aline was a bit surprised, having perhaps not realized the inherent suspiciousness of what she had just done. "Ah!… Hello, Doctor Surov."
[06:33] <Minaplo> ["An odd time for a synchronisation test, Blanc." He said dryly, skipping the niceties.]
[06:36] * Aline tugged at the collar of her blouse, looking rather embarrassed. "So it was. I'm correct in assuming you're suspicious, but I can guess that is far from all."
[06:37] <Minaplo> ["The data demonstrates that Synch ratios tend to deteriorate with age- are you worried you might begin to diminish now that you're almost eighteen?"]
[06:42] * Aline frowned. "I can assure you, I've encountered the rate of decay, at least as far as the Archangel Raphael's simulations would show it." …Was she trusting this man? It almost sounded like she was, by dint of how she wasn't outright lying, just omitting.
[06:47] <Minaplo> ["So you're -not- worried about decay, then. How interesting."]
[06:51] * Aline tilted her head this way and that, before firmly nodding. "But I'm somewhat sure you might've at least suspected that. I did feel a bit mortified about my performance in Britain, but comparatively, that isn't quite an issue." A pause. "What is an issue, is that if you want to interrogate me, it'd be best done in a more private locale."
[06:59] <Minaplo> ["I see." He said with a note of irritation. "Have it your way. I don't have the time to 'interrogate' you- if it's -that- private then I'm not interested."]
[07:02] * Aline looked up at the ceiling, as if knowingly… before looking at Surov. "Very well. Good day, Doctor." …and so Aline began to turn around to leave, perhaps realizing that merely /having/ that conversation might be tipping too much of her hand. She briefly considered her failure at stealth.
[07:02] <Minaplo> [Again without care for the niceties, he turned and stalked away.]
[07:09] * Aline would take that as her sign to move on, and decided to make her way towards the Geofront exit. Maybe she could salvage this complete failure with some gaming or… some kind of idle entertainment. Because honestly, she was getting a little bit twitchy now…
[07:10] <Minaplo> [She'd go unmolested as she left the Geofront. It was a relatively quiet day; it was almost as if the fight had been knocked out of the city after the riots. Somewhere nearby she could hear the sound of construction work.-
[07:10] <Minaplo> ["Nice day, isn't it?" Asked a sweeper at the Geofront exit; he gave her a fatherly smile.]
[07:16] * Aline peered at the man a bit, and looked… well, a bit jumpy. But not too much. She actually tried to suppress her nerves, figuring she wasn't safe, but couldn't /look/ the part of being unsafe. (The near-typo of 'unsane' on that line would probably do in a pinch, knowing Aline.) "Suppose so." …The smile made her feel weird, because she actually had a father - technically. Or was it
[07:16] * Aline untechnically? Who knew.
[07:21] <Minaplo> ["Any plans for today, miss?" He swept along.]
[07:23] * Aline shrugged openly. "Not really. After my business today I was going to just relax."
[07:27] <Minaplo> ["Are you a fan of the new library cafes, miss? I know a lot of girls your age go to them nowadays."]
[07:31] <Aline> "Ah, is that so?" Aline said, starting to go off of high alert just because she was engaged in conversation for long enough. "I haven't really had the chance to explore them lately."
[07:32] <Minaplo> ["That's a shame, miss. I know my daughter's always spending her money on those places…"]
[07:37] * Aline thought on that. "Well, thanks for the tip. I'm not sure how much I'd want to /spend/ on such a thing…" After all, she had demolitions gear that she's woefully behind on stocking up. "…But it'd be interesting to try."
[07:37] <Minaplo> [He nodded. "Well, you have a good day now, miss. Enjoy your weekend."]
[07:43] <Aline> "Right~" Aline chirped, and wandered off on her way. She figured… hell, why not go try one of those? So, rather than beelining her way home, Aline decided to, after SOME means of fiddling with getting directions (preferably through computerized means), head to one close to her apartment.
[07:47] <Minaplo> [And so she'd set off- via train at first, although she had to get off at a station earlier than usual due to local damage.-
[07:48] <Minaplo> [Unfortunately, she'd find- as she emerged- that this wasn't an area she was familiar with.]
[07:57] * Aline mentally cursed her luck, and… decided to go look around a bit to see if there was someone she could ask directions from. She was still a bit nervous, but was determined to get to her destination! …And moreover, while she wrote down the address and directions from NERV to there and her apartment to there… those directions didn't account for getting off at that station.
[08:04] <Minaplo> [There was in fact someone around- someone she even recognised. "I didn't expect to see you out here, Aline," Stated Dr. Clement with surprise.]
[08:06] * Aline was actually relatively surprised at that herself. "Same here, Doctor Clement. I'm a bit lost after being forced to detrain early."
[08:06] <Minaplo> ["Oh. There's damage at the next station, isn't there?"]
[08:07] * Aline looked off in the approximate direction of said station for a second or two. "Yeah…"
[08:09] <Minaplo> ["Where are you headed? I think I can set you right…"]
[08:13] <Aline> "Ah! Well… It's a few blocks away from my apartment, but I was headed for a library cafe. I was talking to someone who mentioned them, and I'm kinda curious because I don't quite always have time to check out places around town."
[08:15] <Minaplo> ["A library cafe? This wouldn't be Coffee Bible, would it?"]
[08:15] * Aline for some reason looked embarrassed at being reminded of the name, but nodded. "Ah, yes. I was, as I said, curious."
[08:21] <Minaplo> ["Well, I happen to know the place- why don't I take you now?"]
[08:27] * Aline smiled in his direction. "I'd love that, though I'm a bit surprised you don't have anywhere you'd rather be."
[08:29] <Minaplo> ["I was actually waiting for Elena here. She's at the cafe right now."]
[08:32] <Aline> "Oh~" Was Aline's reply to that, and she looked off into the distance. "Do lead on, then."
[08:37] <Minaplo> [And so he led her out of the station- and into the streets of Paris-2.-
[08:39] <Minaplo> [Dr. Clement led Aline past a burned out block- a victim of the riots. The buildings had been gutted with fire, appliances laying blackened and burned on floors, sofas and furniture showing charred wooden frames.-
[08:39] <Minaplo> ["Miss Blanc?" Came an unfamiliar voice from behind.]
[08:42] * Aline felt her heart race at the unfamiliar voice, but turned around to see who it was all the same. "…Yes?"
[08:47] <Minaplo> [She'd glimpse a white cloth, but then it was clamped over her face- the heavy, suffocating scent of some sort of oil filling her senses; the world darkened…]
[08:48] * Aline would, in her last moments of consciousness, gurgle rather pathetically, as she considered with fear just who or what was doing this. Had her failure at stealth finally caught up to her? Or was this something else…?
[08:50] <Minaplo> […-
[08:50] <Minaplo> […-
[08:50] <Minaplo> [There was light flooding around her, even behind her eyelids. They glowed red, painfully, stinging at her eyes.]
[08:55] <Aline> Hesitantly… very hesitantly, Aline would open her eyes, though not before scrunching her eyelids shut even more. She didn't say anything just yet, because she had no idea /who/ it was. They'd probably hint it one way or another soon enough.
[08:57] <Minaplo> [Someone or something was shining extremely powerful lights into her eyes. Beyond the dizzy bright -source- she could barely glimpse a shadowy outline.-
[08:58] <Minaplo> ["Are you awake?" Asked… Whoever it was. Their voice was deep and- strange, modulated perhaps.]
[09:04] * Aline needless to say closed her eyes again, not wanting to stare into the light too much. "You can probably tell now."
[09:05] <Minaplo> ["You can understand me, then? We are sorry for our rough methods, but there were no alternatives."]
[09:08] * Aline tilted her head - if she was even able to - as she replied. "Yes, I can understand you. Your voice is a bit off-sounding, but otherwise clear." She was apprehensive still, but the apology, for whatever reason, softened her response.
[09:09] <Minaplo> ["It is important to hide our voice. Our collective enemies have the ability to take that information from you."]
[09:11] <Aline> "…Mm." Strange enough, Aline thought, but reasonable.
[09:12] <Minaplo> ["Note that. We are allies, secret ones watching from the shadows, aiding you and your compatriots where we can. You may call us Vercingetorix."]
[09:17] * Aline slowly nodded, not knowing how much she nodded because of THE LIGHT. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind." A brief pause. "…Thanks."
[09:21] <Minaplo> ["You have questions. Questions you have tried to answer."]
[09:25] <Aline> "Y… yes, I do. Ones very very hard to find sources for." Aline responded.
[09:29] <Minaplo> ["Ask your questions."]
[09:31] <Aline> "There's one that stands out." Aline began. "…Why was the Black Moon diverted to Earth?" Quick, to the point.
[09:31] <Minaplo> ["It was unintentional. A cosmic event- a powerful one, potentially a supernova or an unexpected black hole- knocked its course off. It 'emergency' landed on Earth."]
[09:36] <Aline> "Ahh." She said at first, but to Aline, the answer, while she somewhat trusted it, left a lot to be desired. No matter, she'd use this opportunity while she had it. "Sera spoke of relocating humanity to its 'intended' world… But would that even be feasible? The 'true' children of Lilith are a thing that does not, and may possibly never, exist, so would that even work?"
[09:41] <Minaplo> ["There are variables. Strictly speaking it is possible to relocate the Lilim to the world intended, but the path taken to bring about that relocation will bring different results."]
[09:46] * Aline nodded rather vaguely again, before thinking. "…This may sound silly, but is there a power - like perhaps a Seed of Life - that exists that could create a habitable world, or failing that, reposition and then render habitable a world?"
[09:54] <Minaplo> ["Yes. All seven Seeds have the power to render a world habitable, providing it falls within certain parameters- solar warmth, so on and so forth. There is a caveat, however."]
[09:55] <Aline> "…That is…?" She asked, a bit gentler than her word choice and pauses suggested.
[10:08] <Minaplo> ["The Seeds are inherently designed to settle only one of the seven designated worlds. They will not choose any other."]
[10:12] * Raphael has quit IRC (Quit: <AdEvaGM> Saber is very patient. <Shirou> What is going onnnnnnnn <Saber> Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You shouldn't speak. You're an idiot.)
[10:13] * Aline rather visibly frowned. "…So much for that. Then one of the two races has to settle the remaining world… Thank you, again." She didn't quite know what else to ask at first… but… "Hmmm."
[10:15] <Minaplo> ["The Seeds care not which world it is, so long as it is one of the Seven."]
[10:19] * Aline nodded. "And I suppose by now, negotiations with, oh say, Metatron or - if awakened - Adam are no longer possible, assuming they /ever/ were."
[10:24] <Minaplo> ["No. In any case, the Angels are trying to find Adam, which is hidden from them."]
[10:27] <Aline> "Mm. Which does explain a lot of the nature of the war on its own. Which means things will be tricky." She seemed a bit less thoughtful now, and more certain. Amendments to plan: Locked.
[10:31] <Minaplo> ["As it stands, it would be easier to relocate the Angels."]
[10:36] * Aline nodded. "That was my plan, actually. I just previously had in mind using another planet before you clarified the nature of the Seeds." Beat. "You've been really helpful, actually, but why help /us/? I mean, between NERV and SEELE and a number of other interested parties with lots of power… choosing the pilots doesn't sound very political. Not that I mean to suggest anything about
[10:36] * Aline your motives…"
[10:37] <Minaplo> ["We are dedicated to fulfilling out the plan that Elisha Caine laid out. We are… His insurance, against unexpected deviations."]
[10:40] * Aline slowly nodded, taking in the information. "…Thank you, for a third time. That clarifies a lot about what I was wondering about to begin with. I understand, even though you had to treat me roughly earlier. Since our plans seem to be in agreement so far, consider this my acknowledgement of alliance."
[10:42] <Minaplo> ["Good. We accept. Do you have any further questions?"]
[10:46] * Aline mulled over that. "…One more, if only to save me a few steps. What would be the location, coordinates, or other data sufficient for a Dirac jaunt to the final, unsettled Designated World?"
[10:47] <Minaplo> ["We don't know. It was never specified- only the Seeds know the true locations."]
[10:49] * Aline nodded. "Well, it was worth a shot, in case it was written somewhere. I suppose you have some special method of sending me off, so… I'm done here."
[10:50] <Minaplo> ["One final thing. In the great plan made for the children of the Ancestors, humanity has no place- but Elisha Caine found something that allowed humanity to earn its place. Don't forget that."-
[10:51] <Minaplo> [A rough hand was clasped over her face, a cloth held fast; oil, losing consciousness…]
[10:56] * Aline took it this time, even if she murmured something unintelligible about it… What really bothered her was suddenly wondering where she'd wake up this time.
[10:57] <Minaplo> ["… Fia involvement?"-
[10:58] <Minaplo> ["Maybe. It seems like their work. It's lucky we were able to intercept them."-
[10:58] <Minaplo> [Aline would find herself stirring in a room- her own bedroom.-
[10:58] <Minaplo> [She would, however, only notice this after she parsed the monkey sitting on her chest.]
[11:00] * Aline blinked once. Then twice. "…" She stared at the monkey, and muttered something about drugs. She reached over to try to brush said monkey away a little.
[11:01] <Minaplo> ["Ook." It smacked at her hand.-
[11:02] <Minaplo> ["Perot, stop that." Came the voice of Jeanne Simon. "Get off her, leave her alone."-
[11:02] <Minaplo> [The monkey gave Aline a baleful look before slinking off. Aline would notice a pistol sitting in a holster at its hip.]
[11:05] * Aline /stared/ at that, and briefly had flashbacks to Skald. As any NeoSpartan could tell you, flashbacks to Skald, even the relatively tame ones Aline had, weren't really good. "…I'm going to take the…" A loll of the head. "…fact that you're here to mean something happened?" Half-truth, obviously.
[11:08] <Minaplo> ["You were kidnapped." Said Jeanne Simon. "By someone who knew what they were doing. We managed to track you down to a warehouse in a burned out part of town, but your captors escaped."]
[11:11] <Aline> "…Ah." For a while after that, Aline remained silent, exchanging wary glances at Perot, before focusing back on Jeanne. "I do remember someone talking to me while I was on the way to a cafe, though that was only them getting my attention… I guess everything after that was unconsciousness, then. Figures. God knows my system can't take intoxicants, so knockout drugs are probably no
[11:11] <Aline> different."
[11:13] <Minaplo> ["Yes. We found Dr. Clement as well, in the same situation." She shook her head. "In any case, I've managed to have a Storm Trooper put here to guard you and your apartment. Private Faraji here will keep you safe."]
[11:15] <Aline> "Wow." Aline said with a bit of a whistle afterwards. "I'd almost say it isn't necessary, but it obviously is. I guess I'll have to get to know them a bit more, though."
[11:21] <Minaplo> ["He doesn't speak French, so keep that in mind."]
[11:22] * Aline sighed. "English?… Probably not Japanese…" She decided to leave off her last language known. Besides, she knew how to read it, dead languages aren't spoken!
[11:22] <Minaplo> ["English will be fine, I think."]
[11:27] * Aline smiled. "Excellent! They might be gruff or antisocial or some other bad thing, but at least I can try~"
[11:28] <Minaplo> ["… Yes. Well, I have to go. I'll see you around. Come, Perot."-
[11:28] <Minaplo> [The monkey scrambled up Simon's back and onto her shoulder- and Simon left.]
[11:30] * Aline sighed, thinking of what her meeting meant. They weren't alone. That was good, though SEELE probably ended up forcing them underground, she had support… And her plan was solidified. Hmmmm.
