"I heard my country calling, away across the sea,
Across the waste of waters, she calls and calls to me.
Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head
And around her feet are lying the dying and the dead;
I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,
"I haste to thee, my mother, a son among thy sons."
- I Vow to Thee, My Country, British Patriotic hymn

After discussions with Princess Catherine and her aide Sidney White in Stockholm, the Federation made it known to the British Parliament that they had agreed to dissolve Parliament and go straight to elections. Prime Minister Windsor-Yamato acquiesced, dissolved Parliament and put the country to the polls.

Sidney White of course was always going to be contesting that same election, along with his own party, known as the Restoration UK Party. His campaign is based on elevating the rights and freedoms of the Celtic peoples, ending the war with the UN, and rebuilding the country long in tatters whilst also restoring the 'rightful' Queen, Catherine.

Currently, UK's population sits at around 19 million. Of those, 10 million live in England, along the most 'safest' of edges, and the other 9 million in Scotland and Ireland. The Restoration UK Party thus enjoys massive support in Ireland and Scotland, but they also enjoy plenty of support in an England tired of fighting a war instead of rebuilding.

The incumbent government hasn't a hope. The only chance we have of winning this election is to put forth our own candidate, leading a 'Unity Party', a candidate with broad demographic appeal, great intelligence and leadership ability.

Chosen Option

We will be contesting this election. Once our candidate has been chosen, we can then decide how much exactly we want to help try to win this.
Candidate. You chose Alphonse Wellesley to be your candidate. He will not be available for battles, occupations or field missions until the start of Turn 7. Alphonse must make an Opposed Charm Test against Sidney White. However, White gains a +30 bonus from popular support, plus another +20 for winning the debate and using that information to influence the powerful in Turn 5, for a total of +50. Due to the below options, Sidney has a -5 penalty (total +45) and Alphonse has a +35 bonus (total 35).
Fund the Campaign. You spent 8 CP to bankroll your candidate, for a total of +20.
Announce Rebuilding Scheme. Only Ezra Caine gets to rebuild countries!
Eva Media Campaigns. You deploy Rei, granting your candidate a +15 bonus, however she may not be used until the start of Turn 7.
Electoral Fraud. No.
Smear Campaign. You spend 5 Intelligence Points to smear members of the Restoration UK Party. This applies to Sidney's test a penalty of 5 and increases the chance of the "British Fury at Election Result" event firing by 10%.
Voter Suppression. No.
Flint's Friends. No.

Options

We will be contesting this election. Once our candidate has been chosen, we can then decide how much exactly we want to help try to win this.
Candidate. Choose one officer to be a candidate. The officer must have British nationality. They will not be available for battles, occupations or field missions until the start of Turn 7. The candidate must make an Opposed Charm Test against Sidney White. However, White gains a +30 bonus from popular support, plus another +20 for winning the debate and using that information to influence the powerful in Turn 5, for a total of +50. As part of this option, you are given multiple methods of assisting the campaign below.
Fund the Campaign. Spend a number of CP to fund the campaign. For every 2 CP you spend, you grant your candidate a +5 bonus, to a max of +20.
Announce Rebuilding Scheme. You may announce a major rebuilding scheme in Britain. This grants your candidate a +10 bonus, however you must pay Britain a total of 20 CP by the end of Turn 11 (5 turns).
Eva Media Campaigns. You may choose between one and three Evangelions and their pilots; both must be in top condition. This grants your candidate a +5 bonus per Eva, however they may not be used until the start of Turn 7. If one of the pilots is Rei, then you may add an extra +10 bonus on top of the existing bonuses.
Electoral Fraud. You may spend 2 CP to engage in electoral fraud. This inflicts a -10 penalty to Sidney's test, however it raises the chance of the "British Fury at Election Result" Event firing in Turn 7 by 20%.
Smear Campaign. You may spend between 5 to 20 Intelligence Points to smear members of the Restoration UK Party. This applies to Sidney's test a penalty of 5 for every 5 Intelligence Point you spend, however it raises the chance of the "British Fury at Election Result" Event firing in Turn 7 by 2% per Intelligence Point.
Voter Suppression. By using laws expressly written to deny votes to the majority of Scots and Irish, you can remove White's Popular Support (+30) bonus. However this raises the chance of the "British Fury at Election Result" Event firing in Turn 7 by 50%.
Flint's Friends. You can ask Shardlake for help. By tapping some friends in Britain's industrial, corporate, political military sectors you can remove Sidney's "Debate victory" (+20) Bonus. However this raises the chance of the "British Fury at Election Result" event firing in Turn 7 by 10%, and Yanmei gains the Debt (Shardlake) Drawback.
