Cherry Blossom Procession 4 2 52

<Yanmei> It had been a long time since Yanmei's last synchronization test. As she marinated in the familar confines of 04's entry plug, she tried to quiet her mind and follow instructions as best she could… only to stumble across distraction after distraction floating through her brain like space debris. Political details. Bits and pieces concerning Isaiah, Marianne and that fink, Aherne. She
<Yanmei> wondered about the gap since her last test. Maybe the technical department of the UEF was growing lax. More likely, it had something to do with the permanent synchronization thing she was on. Yeah, sure, of course. If she was always synched, it meant that she wasn't in any danger of having her ratio drop. That was how it worked, right? -
<Yanmei> So then what was this? Some kind of weird experiment? Was Surov up to something? She opened her eyes to scowl at any comm windows that were open in front of her.
<Hopeplo> [Surov scowled right back, whilst over his shoulder hovered Fuyutsuki, looking unruffled and calm. "Just try to relax, Chancellor." Said Fuyutsuki.]
<Yanmei> "Hmph. I am calm? What makes you think I'm not calm?"
<Hopeplo> ["You have a disqueted expression. Try to be more sangfroid, like me."]
<Yanmei> "Sangfroid, sangfroid…" she muttered to herself and shut her eyes, grimacing with concentration.
<Hopeplo> ["It's french, meaning 'cold-blooded'. Stoic and implacable." Said Fuyutsuki.]
<Yanmei> "Of course. I already know that, doctor."
<Hopeplo> ["Hmm."-
<Hopeplo> ["What does it feel like in there, Chancellor? Any changes to your field sensation?"]
<Yanmei> "It's the same as normal?"
<Hopeplo> ["Hmmmm."]
<Yanmei> "Hmmmm," Yanmei echoed. She was trying to concentrate in earnest now.
<Hopeplo> ["Perhaps you should recite what it is you're thinking about?" Asked Fuyutsuki.]
<Yanmei> "What, out loud?" Yanmei raised an eyebrow. "You first, gentlemen."
<Hopeplo> ["Should I apply shocks?" Asked Surov bluntly.-
<Hopeplo> ["Not yet. Please, Chancellor, it's for the test." Said Fuyutsuki.]
* Yanmei sighed. "I'm thinking about the work I still have to get done today? And a few very minor problems at home. And I'm also thinking that one of you has it out for me. Can you guess which one?"
<Hopeplo> ["I want to apply a shock." Said Surov sourly.-
<Hopeplo> ["Shh. Chancellor, I'm going to begin applying some music to your plug. I want you to concentrate only on the music and what you think it means." Said Fuyutsuki.]
<Yanmei> "Fine, fine…"
<Hopeplo> [A stream of music began to be pumped into the plug, softly at first, but louder over time. To Yanmei's ears it sounded like Indian music, and she couldn't understand the words…]
* Yanmei kept her eyes shut and tried to follow along for a long time. It was somewhat upbeat and a little repetative, so… "It's… an old-timey party song?" she guessed. "Something you'd play at a wedding to get the older guests dancing?"
<Hopeplo> ["No, keep thinking about it…"]
* Yanmei frowned… and then, eventually, seemed to relax a little, sinking further down into her chair. "It's some kind of explanation. Prayer? Explaining how to be a good, moral person? Empathy and prayer…"
<Hopeplo> ["…"-
<Hopeplo> [It seemed as though Fuyutsuki was talking, but his voice was growing out of focus. In fact, the monitors were growing fuzzy too, as though she were seeing them through rain-pelted glass…-
<Hopeplo> [Until finally it seemed as though she were sitting by herself in a strangely blurry entry plug, everything dark except for a spotlight shone on her.]
<Yanmei> "Hm?" Yanmei peered around blearily. This was…weird. But not unfamiliar. She reached up to rub her face.
<Hopeplo> * Yanmei frowned… and then, eventually, seemed to relax a little, sinking further down into her chair. "It's some kind of explanation. Prayer? Explaining how to be a good, moral person? Empathy and prayer…"
<Hopeplo> <Hopeplo> ["…"-
<Hopeplo> <Hopeplo> [It seemed as though Fuyutsuki was talking, but his voice was growing out of focus. In fact, the monitors were growing fuzzy too, as though she were seeing them through rain-pelted glass…-
<Hopeplo> <Hopeplo> [Until finally it seemed as though she were sitting by herself in a strangely blurry entry plug, everything dark except for a spotlight shone on her.]
<Hopeplo> <Yanmei> "Hm?" Yanmei peered around blearily. This was…weird. But not unfamiliar. She reached up to rub her face.
<Hopeplo> [In place of the usual hatch, a staircase led away from the entry plug, going down… Somewhere.]
* Yanmei stared down the staircase for a moment, her face twisting into another scowl. She wouldn't get anywhere by staying put, though, so slowly, she climbed to her feet and began what could have been an endless descent.
<Hopeplo> [Fortunately, it wasn't; after a minute or so of climbing down the sandstone steps, she came to an open archway. Within was a round garden, built around a fountain; the fountain burbled with clear, clean water. The plants, though, had long since burned and grown cold; now only their ashes remained.-
<Hopeplo> [Sitting in the middle, by the fountain, back to her, was Elisha Caine, his long black hair swaying slightly in an ash-bearing wind.]
* Yanmei stood still when she saw him, but only for an instant. She approached, with quick but measured steps, her right hand balling into a fist, eyes drawing an imaginary target on the back of the man's head.
<Hopeplo> [Elisha tilted his head to the left.-
<Hopeplo> [As Yanmei's fist jerked past, he whipped his head and right shoulder up, jamming the arm between the two.-
<Hopeplo> [A second later the world was a blur of motion- Elisha rolled, and Yanmei flipped. Suddenly he was sitting a few metres away from her, and she was lying on her back in a sprawl.]
<Yanmei> "…" Once the ground stopped spinning around her, she tilted her head just enough to glare at him without moving. "Tch."
<Hopeplo> ["You should know better than that."]
<Yanmei> "Yeah, well, sometimes I get a little carried away?"
<Hopeplo> ["Apparently. Why the attack?"]
<Yanmei> "Do you remember a kid named Kourosh Rustami?"
<Hopeplo> ["Yeah, he was a prick."]
<Yanmei> "He says you destroyed the world. Second Impact."
<Hopeplo> ["Oh."-
<Hopeplo> [Elisha was silent for a few seconds. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I see. So you've found that out, huh?"]
<Yanmei> "Goddamnit!" Yanmei kicked violently at the ground with her foot and then hoisted herself up to a sitting position with her arms. "You smugfaced jerk!! How does someone cause the apocalypse? How do you even do that?!"
<Hopeplo> ["You're saying it like it's somehow a bad thing…"]
<Yanmei> "Billions died!"
<Hopeplo> ["Billions lived."]
<Yanmei> "And a lot of the ones who did? Are bitter, broken, and furious. If one of my officers was standing here in my place, you'd get a lot worse than a surprise rabbit punch!"
<Hopeplo> ["Exactly my point." Said Elisha. "You never knew the old world, and they're too biased to give reliable viewpoints to you. Trust me: we didn't lose anything that important."]
<Yanmei> "I don't see how you can say that when you knew the old world just as well as they did! Why did you really do it? Were you tricked into it? Were you being controlled?"
<Hopeplo> ["I did it because it was a choice between either the old world, with all its weakness and hollowness and idolatrous sentimentality, and a new world, a world of power and willingness, where humanity would be tested- and ultimately overcome, to transcend. So I chose the new world. It wasn't even a competition, and I'd do it again if I had to."]
* Cerise is now known as Reiska
* Yanmei scoffed out loud. "Are you sure you want me to believe that? You're starting to sound like one of the old men."
<Hopeplo> [Elisha eyed her for a few moments, then shook his head.-
<Hopeplo> ["When you think about the old world, what do you actually imagine? Describe it to me, as vividly as possible."]
<Yanmei> "The old world was a lot like the one we have now? Except it was physically healthier. A lot fewer orphans. A lot fewer giant radioactive disaster sites. No ridiculous impact ferals. The landscape and climate of each continent was completely different, and survival wasn't a constant issue for everyone. Of course, there were still a lot of jerks in charge, and the technology was lamer, but
<Yanmei> they didn't have to worry about fighting Angels or Dysangelions, did they?"
<Hopeplo> ["No." Said Elisha. "The problems they had to handle were much easier… Yet they couldn't even manage that with any degree of competence."-
<Hopeplo> [He snorted. "The flesh is willing, but the spirit is weak- that's the old world in a nutshell. The old world had a bounty, Yanmei. They could've solved every single problem they had within a few decades if they simply used that bounty properly. But they squandered it. Acted sluggishly, or acted off the wrong priorities."-
<Hopeplo> ["The old world was full of crises that went ignored. I replaced them with a crisis that demanded attention. It shook humanity out of its dull, animal stupor, of taking things for granted. Humanity suddenly realised they couldn't coast by with mediocrity anymore."-
<Hopeplo> [He leaned forward. "If you took every world leader from the old world and compared them with what we have now, I assure you you'd struggle to find even one of them half as worthy as Linden, Wellesley- or yourself."-
<Hopeplo> ["I hope you didn't expect me to be contrite about this." He said with a smirk.]
<Yanmei> "I expected you to at least have the decency to take a punch over ruining the lives of pretty much the entire planet's population? I should have known better." She stood up, brushing the grit off her clothes. "No one would follow you if they knew about this, and it's only a matter of time before it leaks out."
<Hopeplo> ["Why? Who's going to leak it? You?"]
<Yanmei> "Rustami might."
<Hopeplo> ["Oh, please." Said Elisha idly.]
<Yanmei> "Oh please nothing. He thinks you're a prick too."
<Hopeplo> ["Of course he does. But you said it yourself: no one would follow me if they knew about this." Said Elisha. "Rustami wants people to follow me until he and you achieve my vision. So no, he won't say a thing."]
<Yanmei> "Unless something in our relationship or our planning goes horribly south and he wants to take revenge for it. Or he has an encounter with a telepath. Or he gets stupidly drunk one night. Shit happens. Shit may have already happened."
<Hopeplo> ["But that doesn't matter. You forget who you're speaking to- there's already a failsafe way to deflect all of this."]

  • Yanmei glared at him. "I'm not going to kill him."

<Hopeplo> [Elisha rolled his eyes. "Not that, you idiot."]
<Yanmei> "What else could you possibly have in mind?"
<Hopeplo> ["Who are you talking to?"]
<Yanmei> "What? Look, if it's not that, then just tell me, ok?"
<Hopeplo> ["Fine. The answer is simple. I've said all of this before, literally shouted it at the top of my lungs. And no one cared."]
<Yanmei> "…? Wait, what do you mean? Like, during that period when you were locked up for your own safety?"
[07:28] <Hopeplo> ["Yes, exactly." Said Elisha. "And no one paid any mind, because I was insane."]
[07:30] * Mogatron (~ten.dshqrabme.pchd.06-352-6-67-ho|nortagoM#ten.dshqrabme.pchd.06-352-6-67-ho|nortagoM) Quit (Quit: G'night!)
[07:35] <Yanmei> "So your plan is to just blame everything on your mental state if the information does get leaked? What if he or someone else gets their hands on some proof?"
[07:35] <Hopeplo> ["Like what?"]
[07:38] <Yanmei> "I have no idea. Records? Video footage? Something?"
[07:41] <Hopeplo> ["Of what? Me screaming about how I hated the world and was happy to burn it?" He said with a small chuckle.]
[07:47] <Yanmei> "Tch. Fine. You're sure he's the only one who knows the truth? Besides me and possibly Sera, that is."
[07:49] <Hopeplo> ["I'm sure there's a few others." He smiled. "But again, it doesn't matter. You have to remember, these aren't the words of Elisha Caine, but merely a part of him, the angriest part, the most destructive part, his thanatos."-
[07:50] <Hopeplo> ["What authority does such a broken thing say? Especially one placed in the torment that is Evangelion? The ones who think me a monster will use it to confirm their suspicions. Those who think me a good man, or don't care either way, won't."-
[07:51] <Hopeplo> ["I couldn't care less about what they thought. The world needed to be fixed, and I did so. Sometimes things need a trim down."]
[07:54] <Yanmei> "And screw everyone living with the fallout, right? Like me and my mom. Or the neospartans. Or everyone."
[07:56] <Hopeplo> [Elisha stared at her for a few long seconds. Then he was sitting on the fountain, one leg crossed over the other, his hands pushing him off the surface.-
[07:58] <Hopeplo> ["Let me tell you a story. It's January, 2000. You're a Seele member and you're going through the Dead Sea Scroll records. You see, without really wanting to, the most important one, the one that says that humanity would be annihilated by the end of 2018."-
[07:59] <Hopeplo> ["Your job is to tell me what you think is going to end the world. You don't know about Impact, it hasn't happened yet, and you don't know about the Angels starting their attacks in 2015 or anything like that. You don't control the UN or any of those things either. So what do you think?"]
[08:01] <Yanmei> "Nuclear war, would be the most likely scenario? Or whatever passed for weapons of mass destruction back then. What did you think it was?"
[08:03] <Hopeplo> [He shook a hand at her, the pointer finger waggling furiously. "Nuh-ah-ah."-
[08:03] <Hopeplo> ["Nuclear war is one possibility. But keep going."]
[08:06] <Yanmei> "Um. Some kind of environmental catastrophe?"
[08:07] <Hopeplo> ["Mmhmm, that's a popular answer. Keep going."]
[08:08] <Yanmei> "Freak accident from space? Another 'asteroid' striking the earth?"
[08:09] <Hopeplo> ["Yes, that's also possible. Go on."]
[08:09] <Yanmei> Her eyes narrowed somewhat. "Not… overpopulation?"
[08:10] <Hopeplo> ["Ah, see. Now you come into the real problem." Said Elisha.-
[08:11] <Hopeplo> ["Overpopulation would contribute to an environmental catastrophe." He said. "But lots of other things would too. For example: Nuclear war. But between who and in what way? How would it be started? What would play a part, and how could we manipulate it into not happening? You see the problem? Every problem has a dozen different paths to it at least…"]
[08:13] * Yanmei frowned. "So your solution was to take a hammer to everything and hope that you hit all the factors leading up to an extinction event in one blow?"
[08:16] <Hopeplo> ["I don't quite know if my thinking was as thought out as all that, but I was definitely aware of the problem, and I was aware that we had no real ability to solve them. So yes, in some way I tried to limit the number of possibilities."-
[08:19] <Hopeplo> ["India and Pakistan engaging in nuclear war was terrible, but how much more damage might be done if they had eighteen years more to develop their arsenals? The same with Israel and Iran. Yellowstone erupting and blanketing North America in ash was devastating, but by it erupting early we avoided it becoming catastrophic later. Demolishing Antarctica flooded many parts of the world, but the explosion at least annihilated massive
[08:19] <Hopeplo> quantities of water anyway, and the sheer lack of landmass helped limit the damage through simple displacement. It also meant nations were more willing to actually fucking work together to save the rest of the ice… Particularly in parts of Europe and the north pole, which became colder."-
[08:19] <Hopeplo> ["Actually, that part was a pure accident."-
[08:20] <Hopeplo> ["But still, it did the job." Said Elisha. "So many people died that the survivors forgot to hate their neighbours. They remembered the possibility of their own deaths, not in the vain mediocrity of basic human living, but in something grander- species death."-
[08:21] <Hopeplo> ["I've always felt the major lesson of a midlife crisis is that it forces you to accept that your life has a midpoint, and thus it might have an end. I gave all of humanity a midlife crisis, and the results speak for themselves."]
[08:35] * Yanmei was quiet for quite a while, seemingly digesting this. At the end, she let out a long sigh. "I don't like what you did. In fact, I hate it? But I accept that you were trying to prevent something terrible from happening. I don't know what I'd do in the same position."
[08:36] <Hopeplo> [Elisha laughed.-
[08:36] <Hopeplo> ["Oh, Yanmei. You really are perfect."]
[08:37] <Yanmei> "What?" she scowled at that.
[08:39] <Hopeplo> ["Seriously. I'm looking over your lives, and you… You're perfect. You find the world a catastrophic mess, even worse than usual, systems falling apart and the order being overturned… You're not responsible for it, but at some point you shake your head and go 'this just won't do.'"-
[08:40] <Hopeplo> ["And then you clean it up, and not only do you clean up the messes, but you make the world better than it was before the mess… Which sometimes can causes their own little messes, but it's worth it." Elisha laughed. "Oh, I plan so well, I arouse myself. You and I are perfect for each other. I make the mess, and you clean it up."]
[08:55] <Yanmei> "I don't know if you're tempting me to blow your cover or what, but if you're smart you'll shut up right now." Yanmei folded her arms. "You planned this? When there was no guarantee that I'd even survive to this point, let alone be in a position to do anything to change the world? You're so full of crap."
[08:55] <Hopeplo> ["You have to admit, it fits a pattern." He laughed.-
[08:56] <Hopeplo> ["We always wondered what your special gift was, Yanmei. Perhaps your gift was being born in the right place at the right time…"]
[09:05] <Yanmei> "My special talent should be obvious, given my new station? It's putting up with unsufferable jerkfaces. Speaking of which, I need to get back soon. I'm not finished giving Surov and Fuyutsuki a hard time."
[09:05] <Hopeplo> [Elisha chuckled. "Two favours before you go."]
[09:07] <Yanmei> "Yeah?"
[09:07] <Hopeplo> ["Talk to Fuyutsuki. You don't need to tell him what we talked about, but do tell him that you contacted me."]
[09:09] <Yanmei> "Hm, okay. Why?"
[09:12] <Hopeplo> ["It's nice. He wanted to see if his little trick would work, and it did, so he deserves honest feedback."]
[09:15] <Yanmei> "Alright, alright, fine."
[09:18] <Hopeplo> [He smirked.-
[09:18] <Hopeplo> ["Second: go talk to 00 and 01."]
[09:19] * Yanmei blinked. "Well this is a first. Is there a reason for that?"
[09:20] <Hopeplo> ["I want you to see all of me?"]
[09:25] <Yanmei> "00 is a little out of reach right now? It's a shame because it seems like it's the one version of you that has a mellow streak."
[09:25] <Hopeplo> ["What, are you saying 01 isn't mellow?"]
[09:27] <Yanmei> "All I'm saying is that no other Eva liquifies its pilots on such a regular basis."
[09:28] <Hopeplo> ["That's, uh, not really fair."]
[09:33] <Yanmei> "Anyway, rumor has it that he's a bit intense, which is the opposite of mellow. You're lucky I'm willing to do this."
[09:33] <Hopeplo> ["Aw, you'd do anything for me."]
[09:35] <Yanmei> "Please. I'm doing this for me."
[09:35] <Hopeplo> ["Of course. And also me." He shot her the warmest, most sincere, handsome smile he could.]
[09:39] * Yanmei gave him a flat, irritated stare. "I'm going home now."
[09:43] <Hopeplo> ["But don't you want to have a look at my garden?" He waved a hand toward the ashpiles.-
[09:43] <Hopeplo> [… Only, at some point, they had become something besides ash piles. Flowers had suddenly started to grow from them, flowers with beautiful pinkish-purple petals…]
[09:51] <Yanmei> It did catch her a little off guard. She stared at a distance for a moment, and then stepped a little closer for a better look. "It's nice. It's supposed to be symbolic for something, right?"
[09:51] <Hopeplo> ["Of course."]
[09:56] <Yanmei> "Of course," Yanmei echoed. "Humanity after Second Impact."
[10:05] <Hopeplo> ["There you go." Said Elisha. "Have you heard of pyrescence? It's a plant trait- they release their seeds in response to fire. Pretty interesting, huh?"]
[10:11] <Yanmei> "Yeah," she admitted. "It is?" Curiously, she reached out to touch one of them. How was the scent?
[10:11] * Raphael (~ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.ap.92-681-791-94ap|oaT#ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.ap.92-681-791-94ap|oaT) Quit (Quit: )
[10:13] <Hopeplo> [The fragrance was a little heavy, but it was warm and had a satisfying tint of burned sugar.]
[10:28] <Yanmei> Soon she pulled back. "It's nice if you think about this as being part of the circle of life? But do you think these flowers would be satisfied if they could comprehend that they were living in the ashes of their parents? My dad's dead, and he's stuck in Stupid Caine's giant soul jar and he's never coming back to my mom. Or to me."
[10:29] <Hopeplo> ["Yeah, I know." Said Elisha, and his smile faded.-
[10:29] <Hopeplo> ["All I can really offer is to point out one thing."]
[10:30] <Yanmei> "Yeah?"
[10:31] <Hopeplo> ["I'm part of the ash, too." Said Elisha. "I transgressed when I decided to enact Impact on behalf of humanity, but I joined that misery of my own free will. Alexandre lost a father too."]
[10:41] <Yanmei> "Yeah. I understand," Yanmei muttered. "You had a choice, at least."
[10:41] <Hopeplo> ["Yeah, I did." Said Elisha. "The best I can do is return that choice to your father at the end. But I know that doesn't quite mean the same thing."]
[10:47] <Yanmei> "Mmph. Next time I drop by, you should let me punch you. Just once."
[10:48] <Hopeplo> ["Anything for you."]
[10:49] <Yanmei> "What? Really?"
[10:51] <Hopeplo> ["Of course."]
[10:53] * Yanmei scrutinized him, and then turned away, folding her arms again. "Ugh. You're making this really unsatisfying somehow?"
[10:54] <Hopeplo> ["Oh yeah?" He said with a grin.]
[10:55] <Yanmei> "I'm going now. I need to think."
[10:55] <Hopeplo> ["Alright. You just get back in the plug."]
[10:56] <Yanmei> "Oh. Up those stairs again?"
[10:56] <Hopeplo> ["Mmhmm."]
[10:58] <Yanmei> "Alright. I'll be seeing you again. Probably real soon." And to the stairs she went.
[10:59] <Hopeplo> [And as she climbed, she heard Elisha singing quietly to himself, the same song with which she had been ushered into his world…-
[10:59] <Hopeplo> [… And the same song she heard as she awoke in 04.]
[11:01] <Yanmei> "Ngh…" It was always a weird, groggy transition. She rolled her head from side to side slightly. "Good news, Fuyutsuki."
[11:01] <Hopeplo> ["It worked, then?" He asked calmly.]
[11:03] <Yanmei> "Yes. Nice trick."
[11:06] <Hopeplo> ["Sorry." Said Fuyutsuki, bowing his head. "I was afraid that if he knew what I was doing, he simply would refuse to help."]
[11:10] <Yanmei> "Mmhm. Well… don't worry about it. He sends his best, by the way."
[11:12] <Hopeplo> ["Oh, that's nice." Said Fuyutsuki politely. "Might I have a word with you, Chancellor? After you've freshened up, of course."]
[11:14] <Yanmei> "Certainly? Let's eject this thing so I can do that."
[11:16] <Hopeplo> […-
[11:17] <Hopeplo> [And so about 15 minutes later, in which Yanmei showered and dressed into some fresh clothes, she'd find Fuyutsuki back in the observation room, which was now free of Surov.]
[11:18] <Yanmei> "So what's the news?" Yanmei began casually. "Nothing too worrying, I hope?"
[11:19] <Hopeplo> ["No, no. But I'm glad to see that my little experiment worked." Said Fuyutsuki. "That was one of his favourite songs."]
[11:21] <Yanmei> "You two knew each other well?"
[11:23] <Hopeplo> ["Not really. But we shared some interests."]
[11:26] <Yanmei> "Like music. Very interesting?"
[11:26] <Hopeplo> ["Oh?"]
[11:27] <Yanmei> "Nothing. I just was wondering if you'd be willing to repeat this experiment with a different Eva."
[11:34] <Hopeplo> ["01?"]
[11:36] <Yanmei> "That's right."
[11:37] <Hopeplo> ["Of course. When would you like to do it?"]
[11:41] <Yanmei> "Maybe sometime this week, if you gentlemen have time? Things have been relatively peaceful, but we don't know how long it's going to last, and I'd like to get this done before 01 gets busted up in a battle or something."
[11:42] <Hopeplo> ["Fair enough." Said Fuyutsuki.-
[11:42] <Hopeplo> ["So did you glean anything interesting from 04?"]
[11:46] <Yanmei> "Not really? He just talked about his past a bit. That time he was institutionalized, mainly."
[11:48] <Hopeplo> ["… Oh?"]
[11:49] <Yanmei> "Yeah. Also something unrelated about flowers. It was kind of strange?"
[11:51] <Hopeplo> ["I suppose synchronisation is a strange beast. Is he usually more or less lucid than that?"}
[11:57] <Yanmei> "In the beginning he was pretty much all over the place? The more we've talked the more lucid he's gotten. Nowadays it's not that much different than the way you and I are talking."
[11:58] <Hopeplo> ["… Interesting."]
[12:03] <Yanmei> "Want me to pass on any messages to him the next time we talk?"
[12:05] <Hopeplo> ["You could tell him… That we never did finish our discussion on the impact that the Radhanite traders had on the markets of China and India, and the knock-on effects in the west?"]
[12:06] <Yanmei> "…Ah. Okay! I may need to write that down."
[12:06] <Hopeplo> ["Heh."]
[12:08] <Yanmei> "Was that all you wanted to discuss?"
[12:10] <Hopeplo> ["Yes, thank you."]
[12:12] <Yanmei> "In that case, I'll head back to my office. Please enjoy the rest of the day?"
[12:13] <Hopeplo> ["You too, Chancellor," He said with a small bow.]
[12:15] * Yanmei returned it a little awkwardly, and then hurried out the door. Now to find someplace quiet to think…
