"Good morning. Ahem. Good morning! Today, we will begin fencing. Never had experience with a foil before? Doesn't matter. Anyone can become a fencer: girl, boy, young, old. All it takes is dedication, focus, discipline and constant vigilance. Let's begin! Fontaine, front and centre!"

Emma Rousseau is one of the staple students of Saint Louis. Having joined the school during its inaugural year of 2010, she was one of the first ever students to enroll, and has been a very visible figure all throughout her life at Saint Louis. Despite having no aristocratic background (so much as a person can boast such a thing in the post-2I world), or even a particularly wealthy family, Emma carries herself with a genuinely regal, impressive bearing; one that has, far from alienated people, won her many admirers. She lives with her widower father, who runs a small electronic business.

However, her father hadn't always been a business owner. Once upon a time, he'd been a fencer- good enough to compete professionally. The post-2I world had little room for such an artistic sport, and Mr. Rousseau had to turn to a different career to sustain his young, 2 year old daughter, especially now that his wife had died. Nevertheless, he had started teaching Emma his hobby and passion from an early age, first to bond with her; then later on, genuinely training her after discovering her natural talent.

It was this talent that led to Emma creating the Saint Louis Fencing Club.

A stern, fair teacher, Emma believes achievement is acquired mostly through dedication, self-esteem and effort. To this end she goes out of her way to train and instil confidence in new trainees who might be lacking those traits.
