EVA-06 has yet to be tried in combat, but compared to the other Evangelions it is unusual indeed. Whereas the other Evangelions tend to focus on either close or medium ranged combat, EVA-06 is built entirely for a more ranged role. Equipped with lighter A-Type armor to afford it maneuverability and mobility, its weapons tend to be heavy indeed, far heavier than what is usual fare for an Evangelion.

EVA-06 is one of two units to have been forced to replace its pilot due to death. The first, Natasha Volkova was a NeoSpartan; although emotionally unstable and socially awkward, Volkova was an excellent sniper and soldier; her death was a blow for NERV in general.

Volkova's replacement was Alexandrina of the House of Windsor, the heir to the British crown. This appointment caused controversy in several circles, but so far the new pilot has been shown to be adept at her job.
