In The Discussions Between Major And Pilot

[10:48] <Dorian> [A few days have passed since Yanmei's woken up and been set upon the long road of recovery. Her treatments are about four times a day: a doctor walks in, asks how she's doing, takes her temperature, checks her blood pressure and finally, smears an orange gel onto all of her many scars and burns. The gel is cool to the touch, and is absorbed into the skin fairly quickly. It has a mildly pain-relieving effect-
[10:48] <Dorian> [But more to the point, it works. A lot of the burns on Yanmei's face have faded, and where she once had scars there, she now has patches of pink, healthy skin.-
[10:50] <Dorian> [She hasn't been alone, either. Ever since that first day- ever since her embarrassing breakdown in front of Isaiah- she's had company. Isaiah, of course, has been there every day, oftentimes the -entire- day, falling asleep in the chair. Occasionally, a doctor shoos him away, but his presence is quickly replaced by Marianne, who can never stay long, but spends her lunch breaks cooing over her little darling.-
[10:51] <Dorian> [But today… She's alone. Isaiah is fast asleep in Yanmei's office, having been shooed out by a fussy Dr. Clement earlier whilst some of the more sensitive treatment went on. Marianne popped in to give Yanmei a special container of chicken curry… But now it's quiet. Lonely.]
[10:55] * Yanmei picked at her chicken curry. She was bored, and restless. During her last stay here, she had made efforts to get out and about, practicing with her crutches. But now, even though she didn't look as awful as she once had, it was still better for her to stay away from prying eyes, she thought. -
[10:58] <Yanmei> There was reading material spread here and there - some homework as well, brought to her by Isaiah. Despite her aversion to the stuff, she was desperate enough to fill the lonely evenings with it when she couldn't sleep. For now, though, there was simply nothing to -do- in this room. She frowned down at her meal.
[11:00] <Dorian> [There was a knock at the door.]
[11:03] <Yanmei> Marianne? Yanmei brightened, reaching for the bathrobe by her bed. It was an airy silken thing. Not very warm, but it didn't chafe, and it not only covered her still-splotchy arms, but it added some color to the drab hospital gowns that she had to wear. Marianne had brought other clothes too, but she was still a little stiff when it came to getting in and out of them. -
[11:04] <Yanmei> "Come in~" she beamed.
[11:07] <Dorian> The door opened, and standing- well, sitting there was Dorian Lachapelle. He was wearing a clean white shirt, with black trousers, and a black leather jacket. He rolled into the room. "How's it going, kiddo?"
[11:13] <Yanmei> Ah, not Marianne after all. Still, she kept her sunny expression. Dorian's was not a face she had seen often lately, which was probably a blessing. -
[11:13] <Yanmei> The intense pain aside, it was impossible to look professional under these circumstances. Makeup kits had been banned from her room with no exceptions, and the messy topknot of sorts that she was wearing was the only way to disguise how badly her hair had been burned. "Hello Major! It's good to see you."
[11:15] <Dorian> "Heh." He rolled up to her bedside, looking around. "Back again, huh? I see the mark of my Lieutenant here on this room." He eyed the bathrobe and the curry.
[11:19] <Yanmei> "Yes! She was just here a little while ago. She had to go, though…" She pushed the bedside tray away, just a little, because it was rude to eat in front of company. "What brings you here, Major? You must be busy too?"
[11:19] <Dorian> "Not really." Said Dorian, smirking. "I've just come from the Commander's office."
[11:21] <Yanmei> "I see." She was skilled at keeping her dislike for Commander Fontaine off her face. The woman whose fault it was that she and Blanc and de Pteres had to pilot. "…classified meeting, I take it?"
[11:22] <Dorian> "Heh. It won't remain classified for long. The Commander's been arrested."
[11:23] * Yanmei stared, her eyes widening. "Arrested? By who? What for?"
[11:25] <Dorian> "Well, I say arrested. But I'm being dramatic." Dorian's eyes twinkled. He was having fun. "Do you remember Imperative One? Well, the President is challenging her right to use it, saying that in the current circumstances she used it unlawfully. So he's having her brought up on charges of breaching the NERV Code of Conduct and Charter in front of the International Justice Court in the Hague."
[11:29] <Yanmei> "Hmmm," she took it in thoughtfully now. Imperative One. She tended not to care one way or the other about its effects, since they were temporary anyway. "You don't seem too worried about it?"
[11:30] <Dorian> "Of course not. This is hardly the first time the Commander's been dragged up in front of the International Justice Court. Each time it ends the same way. 'She's breaching our rights! Wah wah wah!'" Dorian made 'yapyap' gestures with his left hand. "'I think you will find my actions were perfectly justified. Now get down and lick my feet.'" He said in a deeper voice than usual, making 'yapyap' gestures with the other hand.
[11:34] * Yanmei snickered at that… and tried to hide it discreetly behind a fake cough, but only briefly. Doing that made her chest ache terribly, even if it wasn't much. She swallowed. "Well. It was probably the one thing that was done right that day? I haven't seen the recording, but Marianne said it was a close fight. A lot of people could have been killed if they'd stayed in their homes or in bunkers."
[11:36] <Dorian> "Oh no, I totally agree. It -was- the right thing to do." Dorian leans forward, winking. "Want to know what I think?"
[11:38] <Yanmei> "What's that?"
[11:38] <Dorian> "I think he's doing it as a favour." Dorian grins. "He accuses her, she wins, and everyone learns not to mess with her on Imperative One. They're surprisingly friendly, those two."
[11:40] <Yanmei> "Is that so?" She was vague disappointed in that, although she carefully kept her face as neutral as she could. "I had no idea. You'd think that they would be struggling for power…"
[11:42] <Dorian> "Heh. President Mazarin can be kind of a dick. But he's always been a fairly strong supporter of NERV." Dorian grins. "That reminds me. I have a message for you."
[11:43] * Yanmei raised her eyebrows, trying to think of who it could be from. "Blanc or de Pteres?" she guessed.
[11:44] <Dorian> "Nah." Dorian grinned. "From the President."
[11:46] <Yanmei> "Huh? But I've never even met him?" A little on guard now. Worried, even?
[11:49] <Dorian> "So?" Dorian snickers. "You realise that you have 45,234 emails in your unused and untouched NERV Email account, right? Most of them are fan messages. Anyway. The President wants to know if you count as a French citizen."
[11:53] <Yanmei> "Huh? Well… I guess not? Not officially. NERV brought me over on a visa. Faster and easier than working out full citizanship?"
[11:54] <Dorian> "Hah." Dorian nods. "Then I'll tell him that. He wanted to induct you and your fellows into the Legion d'Honneur, but if you're a foreigner, you'll get a sort of… Different version of that."
[11:59] <Yanmei> "That's fine. It's a bit much, anyway? That last fight… it was a little embarassing!" She chuckled quietly, settling back onto some pillows, and let a brief silence fall between them. "Major? About Gabriel-Wei…"
[12:00] <Dorian> "Hm? What about him?"
[12:01] <Yanmei> "Did you offer him a job?"
[12:06] <Yanmei> "But why? He's just a kid, not a trained rescue operative? Besides," she glanced to the side, "aren't you a little worried about his motives for accepting the position?"
[12:07] <Dorian> "I have about four good, solid reasons for wanting Gabriel-Wei on the team, Yanmei." He leaned forward. "But what do you mean by me being worried about his motives?"
[12:10] <Yanmei> "When you were talking to him, did you get the sense that he really wanted to join up? Or that he was doing it to protect something." She was still avoiding looking at him. "Because, I'm worried his judgement might be clouded."
[12:11] <Dorian> "I got the feeling he really wanted to join up -because- he wanted to protect something. Does that answer your question?"
[12:13] <Yanmei> "I suppose so?" She could note the distinction, but it didn't make her any happier. "I
[12:14] <Yanmei> I'd rather he stay someplace safe, with the rest of the civilians, but I don't know if I can get him to listen to me?"
[12:15] * Dorian ponders. He taps his chin, before sighing and taking off his glasses. "So you want me to talk to him?"
[12:22] <Yanmei> "Thank you for volunteering." She smiled brilliantly at him. It felt a bit underhanded, but… "Honestly, though. I just brought it up because I wasn't sure if this was a good thing or bad thing? But if you think you can talk to him, please do."
[12:23] <Dorian> "I never said I would, Yanmei. I just asked if that's what you wanted me to do." Said Dorian, quickly excising Yanmei's little tactic from the conversation. "I think we need to have a talk, first."
[12:25] <Yanmei> "…do we?" she smiled politely. Innocently.
[12:29] <Dorian> "Yes." Said Dorian heavily. "I think we should talk about my reasons for offering him a job that you don't want him to have. Shall we begin?"
[12:30] * Yanmei sobered a little, and then nodded a few times.
[12:31] <Dorian> "For starters." Dorian held up one finger. "Did you know that Isaiah is the son of Wei Liyi?"
[12:32] <Yanmei> "Wei Liyi? Is that her name?" She looked a little surprised. "She was… an important doctor, right?"
[12:33] <Dorian> "That's right. She invented the biogel that's fixing your burns."
[12:36] * Yanmei nodded, her gaze strafing down to her arms again. "But what does it have to do with Isaiah? It's his mother's work, not his."
[12:42] <Dorian> "You're absolutely right. But Dr. Wei seems to, unlike her husband…" Dorian paused. "Recognised Isaiah's talents. He's not very good at reading a social situation, and he mostly gets by because he's pathetic enough to be likable. But he has a mind like a bear trap and she knew it. She taught him. Not everything." Dorian smirked. "But we've been doing aptitude tests-
[12:43] <Dorian> "When he hasn't been sleeping or mooning over you like a stricken puppy. He's perfectly qualified to work as a field medic."
[12:46] <Yanmei> "Wait a minute." Yanmei held up a hand. "So, I know he's ridiculously good at numbers? But are you saying that he's a medical genius too? Also, he hasn't been mooning over anything…" she added, trying to cover her embarassment with a professional-sounding tone.
[12:47] <Dorian> "Yes, he has." Said Dorian promptly, smirking a little. "And no, he's not a medical genius. But he's not -incompetent-. He's not a doctor, but he's easily a medic. Someone who can keep a pilot alive until they get to the hospital- which is exactly what he did."
[12:50] * Yanmei almost fidgetted. She didn't really know how to take all this. "If he was trained in the hospital itself instead out out on the field, wouldn't it be a little better for him? Dr. Clement would be a wonderful mentor…"
[12:51] <Dorian> "You really don't want him out on the field, huh?"
[12:54] <Yanmei> "If a person can get killed out there even when they're in an Evangelion, imagine what it's like for the unprotected," she muttered.
[12:59] <Dorian> "I'm not really sure if Dr. Clement needs another person on his staff." Said Dorian, steepling his fingers. "But… I'll think about it. But I still have three other points I feel you ought to hear first."
[13:01] <Yanmei> "I see. Please go ahead?"
[13:03] * Dorian inclined his head. "Gabriel-Wei is sort of an outcast at school, isn't he?"
[13:05] <Yanmei> "…" Yanmei clasped hands together in her lap. "…we've been working on that," she insisted.
[13:07] <Dorian> "I know you have." Said Dorian placatingly. "But, you've only been in this room since the attack. I've been throughout the entire Geofront. Everyone who fought in that battle topside is a hero. You're a hero. Aline and Sept are both heroes. But people here are noticing Isaiah, too. Word is that he pulled you out of the burnt out body of 04. People are respecting him here."
[13:11] <Yanmei> "It's probably really good for him," she admitted quietly. If only that would carry over to school, too! "So the job is to give him a place here? So that he can get more comfortable with other people who like him."
[13:11] * Dorian nods. "That's right. Confidence is a big problem with Isaiah, isn't it?"
[13:13] * Yanmei nodded. "He's always been lacking it? He's been more daring lately, which was a big surprise."
[13:14] <Dorian> "Like impersonate a NERV officer, infiltrate one of the most important military installations on the Earth, sneak into a disaster relief team, then jump into a burning weapon of mass destruction to save a friend, during a battle?" Asked Dorian with a smirk.
[13:16] <Yanmei> "Yes, like that," she said wryly. "If I'd known he was going to do that, I would have gone along with Operation: Evacuate Isaiah. On the other hand, that would have left me in a bind later on…"
[13:17] * Dorian chuckles. "What do you mean?"
[13:22] <Yanmei> "Remember that conversation we had before the battle? About where the safest place for those evacuating would be? Well, you mentioned that it would be safest to leave the city, but failing that, being here in Headquarters was better than being in a regular bunker, so…" she hesitated. She was just on the verge of confessing to enabling Isaiah's antics, wasn't she? -
[13:22] <Yanmei> Wasn't that a little dumb? Unless he already knew about that… she tried to be subtle about scrutinzing Dorian's expression for clues.
[13:25] * Dorian smirked. He leaned forward a little. "He told me you wanted him to evacuate, but he stole your card."
[13:27] <Yanmei> "…did he?" She leaned back, trying to be nonchalant about it. "…did you believe him?"
[13:30] <Dorian> "No." Dorian chuckled. "But it doesn't really matter if he stole it, or you gave him the card, or what. I'm not going to be punishing anyone. If I did, I'd have already thrown the boy into a windowless room. Do you know that breaking into the Geofront gives us the permission to keep him as a prisoner indefinitely?"
[13:31] <Yanmei> "…I didn't realize that," she muttered, a sliver a guilt now making itself a great deal more visible in her tone of voice.
[13:33] <Dorian> "But I'm -not-." Dorian pats her hand very gently. "I would've done the same thing in your place."
[13:35] <Yanmei> "Yeah, well. It all worked out in the end? So I guess it's okay, this once."
[13:37] <Dorian> "That's right." Said Dorian. He was silent for a moment, staring at the wall… Wistfully, one might say.
[13:38] <Yanmei> "Everything all right, Major?"
[13:39] <Dorian> "Erm. Ahem." His cheeks reddened a little. "I'm fine. I'm fine." He turned to her. "Anyway. I had another two points to make."
[13:40] <Yanmei> "Yes?" she nodded, encouraging him to go on.
[13:43] <Dorian> "Anyway. The third reason is simple. I was hoping to do -you- a favour." Said Dorian, steepling his fingers once more. "It might not seem like it so far, but bear with me. Gabriel-Wei is obviously dedicated to you. Plunging your hands into a boiling liquid to save someone's life is a sign of that. But at the same time, you're obviously dedicated enough to him to sneak him into the most important etc. etc."-
[13:44] <Dorian> Dorian rolled his hand around. "I felt as though, if Gabriel-Wei worked for NERV- was able to see you during these battles, and experience the same things you experienced… You'd have someone to rely on without a doubt. A real confidante."
[13:48] <Yanmei> "It's a nice thought, but…" she closed her eyes briefly. "I don't know how I feel about him experiencing those things? He's… delicate. Sensitive. I can take it, you know that. But him…?"
[13:49] <Dorian> "Won't you be able to support him?"
[13:52] <Yanmei> "Of course? But wouldn't it be more humane to save him from some of that strife to begin with?"
[13:53] <Dorian> "It's something he might have to deal with anyway." Said Dorian. "Which brings me to my last point. Yanmei, his name is on the Marduk Report."
[13:55] * Yanmei looked up sharply at that with a flash of sudden anger in her eyes. "The Marduk Report? Are you sure?"
[14:01] * Dorian nodded. "Yes. It's not guaranteed, but he -is- on the list."
[14:05] <Yanmei> "Unacceptable." She was clenching her hands together harder now, eyes narrowed at nothing, as if she was seething at and preparing to climb around some unexpected obstruction. "I won't have it!"
[14:06] <Dorian> "W… What?"
[14:12] <Yanmei> "He's had it hard enough, as it is! Don't you agree? Turning him into a pilot is -ludacrous-. Who do I have to speak with to reduce the chances of that happening?"
[14:15] <Dorian> "Assigning pilots to the Evangelions is out of our hands." Said Dorian quietly. "It's up to the Marduk Organisation and the Directors of NERV."
[14:19] <Yanmei> "The Directors, you say?" She could figure out who they were, at least. The Marduk Organization was a fair bit more shadowy, however. "Fine." At least she had a collective target now. The method of proceeding was something that she had to take her time and think about, but she was certainly not going to let this go!
[14:21] <Dorian> "I understand how you feel, Yanmei." Said Dorian, his voice remaining quiet and calm. "But we can't act selfishly in situations like this. I know you want to protect Gabriel-Wei, but how many lives is he worth, Yanmei? What makes him worth protecting more than some of the other people on that list?"
[14:24] <Yanmei> "With all due respect, Major," said Yanmei, "that alternative is stayig quiet and letting NERV have its way with him. What sort of friend would I be if I allowed that to happen?"
[14:26] * Dorian leaned forward. "What if he -wanted- to do it, Yanmei? What then? Would you try to pull him out of that plug?"
[14:29] * Yanmei glared, but she wasn't able to keep it up for very long, dropping it off to the side in an unusually sullen manner. "…I don't know."
[14:32] * Dorian pressed on. "How far would you be willing to go to keep him safe, Yanmei? Would you try to hold him back from doing what he wanted? Would you decide that -you- know better than he does?"
[14:41] <Yanmei> "Of course not? But this is different…?" she trailed off, a touch calmer, if not a little bewildered. "Did you know that there's a NERV fanclub at school? Kids look up to us and want to be pilots, but they don't know anything. It's different if you're you're on the inside, actually doing the fighting."
[14:47] <Dorian> "That's how it's always been." Said Dorian quietly. "Kids see soldiers and they go, 'wow! I want to be a soldier! I want to go on adventures and fight for the country I love!' … But they really don't see the truth of it, do they?"
[14:53] <Yanmei> "They don't, no." Yanmei shrugged. "It can't be helped? But it doesn make it a little confusing. How do you know if someone wants to pilot because they -want- to? As opposed to, say, being blinded by glamour."
[14:53] <Dorian> "Do you think Gabriel-Wei's the sort to be blinded by glamour?"
[14:54] <Yanmei> "No. But he might be blinded by other things?"
[14:54] <Dorian> "Like what, exactly? I doubt he'd go for the paycheck, considering everything."
[14:56] <Yanmei> "Devotion? He's already done some extreme things lately because of it."
[14:56] <Dorian> "Devotion to you, huh?"
[14:57] <Yanmei> "Or the organization, if your plan works, and he finds a place here."
[14:58] <Dorian> "Is that a bad thing, though?" Asked Dorian. "How likely are you to find -anyone- who isn't blinded by anything, who want to pilot the Evangelion for the sake of piloting it?" Dorian chuckled ruefully. "Even I'm blinded by something, Yanmei."
[15:00] <Yanmei> "You?" That caught her by surprise. For all of his infurating teasing, Dorian was a fairly logical person.
[15:01] <Dorian> "Of course." Said Dorian. "They tell me, 'The Angels destroyed Antarctica.' They tell me, 'The Angels took away your legs, the Angels took away your life, the Angels took away your family and everyone you loved'." Dorian put his glasses back on. But Yanmei could see, just for a moment, a glimpse of a terrible hurt in them before he finished.-
[15:02] <Dorian> "So they tell me, 'The Angels have taken everything from you, isn't it time to strike back?' And do you know what I say, Yanmei? Do you know what I say?"
[15:04] <Yanmei> "…what do you say, Dorian?" she said quietly.
[15:05] <Dorian> "I said 'Yes'." Said Dorian, his voice utterly still. "I wanted to get back at each and every one of the freakish sons of bitches for what they did to me. And I don't regret it one little bit."
[15:11] <Yanmei> "I understand," she said after a moment. So that was his reason for fighting. She couldn't say that she -blamed- him. It was one hell of a reason. "I'm sorry for what happened."
[15:14] <Dorian> "Heh." Dorian smirked. "It's… Well, it's not fine. It's -painful-. But it's something I'm living with and it's something a lot of other people have to live with, too. How we deal with it depends." Dorian patted Yanmei's hand again. "Just remember something for me though, alright?"
[15:16] * Yanmei nodded. "Of course I will. What is it, Major?"
[15:19] <Dorian> "There are a lot of reasons for fighting. You have things like hatred and revenge- which is why I fight. I know it's not wise. I know it'll end up with me old, cold and alone." Dorian smirked. "But there're other emotions too, like hope, devotion and love. Emotions like that are -real- reasons for fighting. All of those soldiers that fight alongside you out there?"-
[15:20] <Dorian> "They fight because of those things- love, hope, devotion. And even in the face of utter hopelessness, fighting an enemy they can't hope to beat, they'll keep on fighting. -That's- the human way." He waggled a finger. "The greatest right of the Evangelion Pilot is to be able to dare to have those things and still have a chance to win."
[15:29] <Yanmei> "Yes sir!" It was… a little overwhelming. He was talking about such noble things, but she didn't have anything like love or hope or revenge to keep her going. She was suddenly aware that she should, and maybe even more importantly, that she should -want- to have those things. -
[15:30] <Yanmei> "We'll keep winning, of course? So that everyone can realize those things. And as for Gabriel-Wei…" she struggled with that for a moment. "I'll respect his feelings as well as I can."
[15:31] <Dorian> "Heh." Dorian chuckled. "Tell me. If he did become a pilot. And you were fighting alongside him. And, say, he was taken out by the same attack that took you out. Would you try to help him? Be honest now."
[15:33] <Yanmei> "If I was willing to brave a roomful of NERV Directors for his sake, what makes you think I wouldn't try to help him if he went down in a fight?"
[15:34] * Dorian snickers. "So you're telling me you'd be willing to, say, disobey orders? Break formation, disrupt the plan, to save his life?" Dorian took off his glasses. There was a little twinkle in his eyes…
[15:36] <Yanmei> Whoops. "I didn't say that!" This guy, what the hell? She tried backstepping frantically. Breaking formation was not the sort of thing a good little pilot would do. "Of course, orders are important too, so…"
[15:37] <Dorian> "Are you -sure-?" Said Dorian. "Are you really really sure? Because that would make him a liability, and we can't have liabilities piloting our Evangelions." That twinkle.
[15:39] <Yanmei> "Wait a minute… Maybe just blocking the attack completely for him? Like what de Pteres tried, but successfully? That way everyone wins!"
[15:41] <Dorian> "N-no, Yanmei…" Dorian hung his head for a moment. "Listen to me for a moment. If there's a major risk that having a pilot in an Evangelion will disrupt the other pilots in doing their jobs, then that pilot -probably won't be allowed to pilot-." Dorian threw in a desperate wink.
[15:42] <Yanmei> "Oh!" Shoot. She should have seen that. Knowingly nonchalant, now. "Well. In that case, maybe I would help him out in this hypothetical situation of yours."
[15:44] <Dorian> "Hmmm." Dorian nodded solemnly. "I will have to pass that onto the Commander at some point. 'Pilot Zhang would find potential candidate too distracting to effectively pilot.' I think it's the same reason we won't let Alexandre pilot anything either near you…~"
[15:46] * Yanmei practically glowed at that last remark. "Alexandre certainly is distracting, yes. It the most offputting way imaginable," she added. "It's a relief that you realize that, Major."
[15:47] <Dorian> "Indeed. Budding romances should be kept outside of the Entry Plugs. I'm glad you agree."
[15:51] <Yanmei> "Major, please don't say thing that will make me physically ill. I already have enough health problems to worry about now…"
[15:53] <Dorian> "Hahahaha." Dorian grinned, putting his glasses back on. "Yeah, yeah."-
[15:53] <Dorian> [There was a knock at the door!]
[15:55] <Yanmei> "Come in!" she called out. A glance to Dorian. "It's probably Marianne or Isaiah."
[15:56] <Dorian> [Not this time. It was Dr. Clement! "Ah, hello, Yanmei- and you too, Major? My, you're never short of friends in here, are you, Yanmei?"]
[16:02] <Yanmei> "Ah, hello, Doctor," she chuckled. "At least it's not Gabriel-Wei this time? I'm sure he's gone off somewhere to take a long nap for a change."
[16:06] <Dorian> ["A long nap somewhere else, at least." Said Dr. Clement faintly disapprovingly. It was well and fine to be worried about someone, but… "Either way. It's time for your treatment. Major, I'm afraid you'll have to leave."-
[16:06] <Dorian> "Ah." Dorian smirked. "Don't worry. I was going soon anyway. But, I believe Yanmei here actually has something to ask you regarding Gabriel-Wei."
[16:10] <Yanmei> "Ah? Yes, well." Yanmei cleared her throat. "Since he's here so often anyway, and since he has a knack for medicine that you've witnessed as well? I was thinking that it might be a good idea to assimilate him into your staff. Or at least to offer him training of some sort? Since it's -your- medical team, I'm sure he would learn a lot! And his presence here would be a little more productive?"
[16:12] <Dorian> ["Hm." Dr. Clement rubbed his chin. "Accept him onto my medical team? I'm not sure. I think I'm pretty full up…" He pondered the idea, walking around to the side of the bed opposite Dorian. "Although he does have a lot of talent and training. In time he could become quite the doctor… Hm… I'm not quite sure…"-
[16:13] <Dorian> "It'd mean he wouldn't have to join the Damage Response Teams." Said Dorian. "Right, Yanmei?"
[16:14] <Yanmei> "That's right." She nodded. Gazed at Clement with big brown eyes. "You wouldn't have him wandering around on a dangerous battlefield, would you? Poor, scared, little medical trainee that he is…"
[16:17] <Dorian> ["Poor, scared medical trainees rarely are willing to endure second-degree burns in their jobs." Said Dr. Clement, amused, but who could resist all that adorable? "Well, alright. I was thinking of a new initiative anyway. Do you want me to tell you about it?"]
[16:19] <Yanmei> "A new intiative? Certainly." This sounded interesting. Maybe something harmless and fluffy, like pet therapy. Isaiah would love cheering up patients with cute little dogs and cats, wouldn't he?
[16:21] <Dorian> ["Well, I have the feeling he'll be on board for this, too." Said the Doctor. "I'm going to be creating a nursing and doctor staff whose entire job is to take care and monitor the pilots' health. It's essentially the equivalent of ensuring that you pilots get the best care, because their entire jobs will be focused on that one thing."]
[16:23] <Yanmei> "I see. So they'll be the ones to visit us if we get ill and so forth? Or…" why did she have the feeling that this would be a little more invasive than that.
[16:26] <Dorian> "Well, things like that are up to you. I mean, you know Gabriel-Wei outside of NERV, so he'd be useful like that, but more specifically it's for long-term treatment like this, complicated actions like surgery or intensive care, and acting as consultation if need be."]
[16:29] <Yanmei> "Hmm, it sounds like a lot of responsibility? But I doubt he'll object to that. I'll let him know of the option when I see him. Maybe you two could sit down and talk about it some more together?"
[16:31] <Dorian> ["Certainly." Said the Doctor, smiling. "He seems like a nice boy." The Doctor was at this point giving Dorian a 'shoo!' gesture.]
[16:32] * Yanmei chuckled, and gave Dorian a little parting wave herself. "Please come again soon, Major."
[16:33] <Dorian> "Sure, sure. You think about what I said though, Yanmei, alright?" Dorian was wheeling backwards now.
[16:34] <Yanmei> "Yes. Yes, I will!" She nodded to herself. All she would do is present the option to Isaiah. It would be up to him to decide if he wanted to be one Disaster Recovery or if he wanted to work in the Hospital.
[16:35] <Dorian> [The door opened, and shut.-
[16:36] <Dorian> ["Well then. Alright, let's see those scars, Yanmei. Have they been hurting?" Dr. Clement started to launch into the usual questions…]
[16:38] * Yanmei answered them, of course, to the best of her abilities. The previous conversation was still heavy on her mind, but there were still things to do. Yet another day in the hospital.
