"So… Are they like a branch of the army? Are they mercenaries? If one of them punches a techie, does the military court martial him or do we… Dock their pay? I don't know shit."
-Staff Sergeant Theodore Guilford, 1st Fighter Escort Group, Dorian Lachapelle Battlegroup

Ever since the Crystal Massacre, the Wizard Army has served as an ally of the Federation, aiding it in its war against the United Nations. As one of the largest collectives of Iron Guard remaining, the Wizard Army has seen its fair share of decisive actions, not least of which in the Massacre itself.

However, it has been some time since the massacre and issues are arising in interactions between the Wizard Army and the mainstream Federation forces. This in turn leads to questions of jurisdiction and what exactly the role the Wizard Army plays exactly. This has only been exacerbated by the Wizard Army recently expanding to include an old Iron Guard Damaskari called Sardar; a hardcore traditionalist who talks often and loudly about the Liberated Nations, and how the Iron Guard's ultimate intent was to become the 'Immortals', the utter elite of the new order Azariah Caine had envisioned. Furthermore, questions have been raised in the highest levels of the Federation leadership about what the Wizard Army intends for the long run… Not everyone is convinced that they will be content in their nebulous role forever, especially not without some sort of compensation. And if they are just mercenaries, how long can they be trusted to remain loyal?

There are several options available for reducing this ambiguity and tying the Wizard Army more closely to the Federation's authority. The first one is to offer the Wizard Army a financial contract. This would see the Federation pay the Wizard Army for its services, with the Wizard Army answering to the commands of Federation Command but ultimately being allowed to go their own way if they wish. The second option is to offer to directly incorporate the Wizard Army into the Federation Armed Forces as a distinct elite branch. The third and most drastic option would be to forward a special offer of membership to the Wizard Army, allowing it to become a full member of the Federation which pays its dues in military service.

Chosen Option: Special Membership

Offer the Iron Guard a special, unique offer of membership. They will have special rights as Federation members, but they will also have special obligations. Instead of paying taxes or dues, they will be required to pay in Iron Guard military service. This will allow them to access the regular pool of resources available to the Federation Members' militaries without the Federation Military itself footing the bill. After the war, territory will be made available for them to colonise and control… Maybe somewhere really far away, like on Titan. However, this special treatment may disgruntle other members of the Federation.

Full Incorporation. Wizard Army units may benefit from a Federation OD's Supreme Commander fates. Euphemia One and Henok Ashenafi become available for use as an E-Scale Commander. The Federation gains Anna Reinder and Core Unit Arthur as researchers. The Federation now has access to new Iron Guard units in the 'Elite' section of its P-Scale army list.
Federation Backing. Wizard Army leaders all gain +1 RP each for deployments. Furthermore, their vehicle deployment options are expanded. They also now benefit from new technology researched by the Federation.
Membership. The Wizard Army becomes a new faction in the Federation Members list, with a starting Satisfaction of 3.
Support. The Liberated Nations Remnants faction gains 1 Satisfaction Mark.
Favouritism! United States lost 1 Satisfaction Mark.

Options

NOTE: whichever option is chosen must be agreed upon by Syntax.

Mercenary Contract

Offer the Wizard Army a contract- payment from us, service from them. This clearly establishes the Wizard Army as a separate entity from the Federation, and their loyalty cannot be guaranteed. The Iron Guard will be responsible for maintaining their own numbers and equipment.

Contract Dues. Pay 1 CP this turn.
Partial Combat Incorporation. Wizard Army units may benefit from a Federation OD's Supreme Commander fates. Euphemia One becomes available for use as an E-Scale Commander.

Military Control

Try to absorb the Wizard Army into the ranks of the Federation Military. This firmly establishes the Wizard Army as a subordinate to the Federation. This also allows the Federation to exert stronger control and observation over them. The Iron Guard's equipment will now become, for the most part, a Federation responsibility.

Maintenance and Integration. Pay 3 CP this turn.
