Kits

Kit Explanation

Kits are like miniature classes that any character may take. Each Kit is a collection of talents, typically no less than 5 and no more than 8. The talents are divided across three tiers, with Tier 1 having the weakest talents and Tier 3 having the most powerful. When you declare a Kit, you may purchase the talents within, spending XP and adding them to your sheet as you would your normal class talents. They are permanently added to your character.

Any person may declare for any Kit. However, once you have declared for a Kit, you must stay with that Kit until you have cleared a single Tier's worth of Talents. Note that the Tier you clear must have been a tier from which you purchased at least one talent- you can't swap out of a Kit just because you already owned all of the Talents in Tier 1 before taking it. Once you have accomplished this, you may change to another Kit. If you return to a half-completed Kit, you must clear another Tier's worth before you can swap again.

Kit Tiers and Prerequisites

Kits are divided into three tiers, with each tier having at least one talent. The tier on which a talent sits determines the prerequisites needed for that talent, as well as the XP cost.

Every Tier has a Tier Prerequisite, usually a Characteristic or a skill. You may not buy talents from a Tier unless you meet this Prerequisite. Prerequisite demands typically increase with every Tier. You may access Tier 1 right away. However, the Tier 2 and Tier 3 talents possess Talent Prerequisites as well. On the Kit sheets, these Prerequisites are designated by a coloured asterisk- you must possess every lower-tier Talent with the matching coloured asterisk before you may purchase the talent.

In the example below, the Tier 2 talent T2A is marked with a red asterisk. Before you purchase T2A, you must own all talents from Tier 1 that are marked with a red asterisk, in this case T1A and T1B.
