Komm Susser Tod 2 3b

[09:46] <Vera> » It was a bright morning in Sao Paolo-2. Or at least, its environs. Sunlight filtered out from the lone front window of the apartment, and the TV was on. A newscaster was rambling in Portuguese about recovery efforts for post-Brother Italy amidst reports of Angelspawn appearances in China. A teakettle cried out, prompting a hand to quickly snatch it off of the stovetop. "Aha~ Just in
[09:46] <Vera> time." Came the voice of a young woman, who was nearly /dancing/ through the room with the hot teakettle, pouring it to prepare something… honestly fairly fine as far as tea went. Said young woman had long black hair, and was dressed in a military officer's uniform… with a white apron over it. A little auburn-haired girl, only a few months over 2 years of age, was nearby with her own
[09:46] <Vera> food and drink…!
[09:58] <@Minaplo> [A little dish of rice and beans, with a little drinky-cup of milk. The little girl was sitting on a little-girl sized chair next to a little-girl sized table. She was staring up at the boiling kettle with a narrow-eyed look. "Hotty-hiss again." She muttered. "Last time fwoosh."]
[10:06] * Vera chuckled a moment. "I /fixed/ it, Sol." A beat, and she eventually set it on a 'dead' part of the stovetop to let it cool, stirring her tea and adding her /own/ bit of milk to it. "Today's a big day for mommy, though."
[10:14] <@Minaplo> ["Fly day?" She asked curiously. She made a 'whoosh' sound with her mouth.]
[10:16] * Vera chuckled again, spooning up a stir-fry she had made with some of the very rice that was in her daughter's dish. "No. Gonna meet the people I'm working with. Eufie'll be there too, but lots of new faces too!"
[10:25] <@Minaplo> [Sol had a mouthful of food, so she pointed her thumb at her face questioningly.]
[10:26] * Vera had her own mouthful, with a bit of water chestnut sticking out of it, so she… paused. Chewed. Then smiled. "Ah, if you look at someone new, you see their face. So you can say you've seen a 'new face'. But it's new people. People that work for Eufie's dad."
[10:27] <@Minaplo> [She scowled, chewed, and swallowed.-
[10:27] <@Minaplo> ["I go?"]
[10:34] * Vera paused. …Snrked. That's the best description of the sound she made. "Well, sure. We can say hi to Eufie and her mom and dad and the new people before you go do kindergarten like always."
[10:45] <@Minaplo> [She nodded once, seriously, took a drink (both hands!) from her milk, then turned back to the television.]
[10:59] <Vera> » Time would pass, and soon a few little details were set out… Sol's books, Vera's own messenger bag… hats to blot out some of the rising springtime sun, and the like. They wandered through the city long enough to get to a parking lot, where Vera fired up a nondescript sedan and drove out a small ways… Into what /appeared/ to be a normal parking garage. But under said garage was a
[10:59] <Vera> security-locked passage hidden in an obscure corner of the garage and possibly even disguised /further/ than that. Which lead them to the parking lot of her base, a number of cars fancy and modest sitting silently. After a little 'brup brup' of the keyfob to lock her own vehicle (with a /casual/ outward gesture of the arm whose hand /wasn't/ guiding her daughter), Vera proceeded in deeper,
[10:59] <Vera> meeting with a security guard (Paolo, whose son had had at least /one/ playdate with Sol already, so the families were somewhat acquainted) who confirmed her ID and allowed her into the base. -
[11:06] <Vera> — Or, well. /A/ base. Escalators and hallways later, the woman and her daughter were now navigating even deeper, into yet /another/ concealed passage, this time one that lead to a waiting monorail /system/. A number of other officers and staff-members were idling around as a train pulled in, and soon they were onboard. A few of the requisite 'new staff-members making faces and babytalk
[11:06] <Vera> at Sol' incidents went down, no matter whether or not the little redheaded girl enjoyed it or not. But soon… soon they were in the /true/ base, as people began filtering out into their various sections. Cool blue corridors of steel, glowing lights on consoles, even some views through (thick, heavily-reinforced) glass into offices or the like, greeted them on their way in. It wasn't much
[11:06] <Vera> new, to be honest. The destination was reached eventually though. A command bridge that took every concept originally pioneered by the NERV Geofront… and knocked it down about 5 pegs. Holographic strategic displays, crew pools clustered around consoles, and a central command chair existed, sure… but without the massive towers and decks, the yawning expanses of high ceilings and low
[11:06] <Vera> pits… It was /efficient/ without becoming harsh and /spartan/.
[11:23] <@Minaplo> [In the very nerve centre of Operations was, of course, her own command chair and console. To the front of the console sat her three most important subordinates, at least from an organisational perspective- her Ops Staff. To her right sat a smaller version of her own chair- the space reserved for the XO. And of course behind her, on a (somewhat) raised platform was the space and chairs
[11:23] <@Minaplo> put aside for none other than the Commander and Vice Commander of the Forcas Cavaleiro Brasileiro.-
[11:36] <@Minaplo> [The three Ops Staff members turned as she entered. From right to left, there was the Sensor and Communications Officer, Mohammed ibn-Khalid Kader, a thin, young-looking man who nevertheless cleared out at just over six feet. He was bald, and a strange mechanical contraption enclosed the back of his head, fanning out slightly like a cobra's neck, plugging into the base of his skull.-
[11:38] <@Minaplo> [In the middle was their Warfare Officer, Ronaldo Pereira, a strong-looking Brazilian man, maybe in his early 30s, with a short head of light hair. He wasn't very tall. He did, however, wear his uniform to a standard that would make an MP cry with joy.-
[11:40] <@Minaplo> [To the left was their Cavaleiro Directions Officer, Rosamund Prescott, a young woman- maybe at best 16 or 17- with long straight black hair and a small smattering of freckles. She was of average height.-
[11:43] <@Minaplo> [The XO was a tall, confident-looking woman with medium-length black hair. This was Captain Monica Rosa de Franco Silva- none other than Eufemia's mother.-
[11:44] <@Minaplo> [Then the two Commanders. Standing up and dominating the room was the Vice-Commander, Gabriel Levin. He had short dark hair and a solemn, soulful face- it was a face that looked as though it had trouble smiling, although it never looked quite hostile. He stood tall at over seven and a half foot- the man was an Iron Guard.-
[11:45] <@Minaplo> [Next to him, sitting down, leaning back in his chair, his hands on his armrests, was the gangly, brown-haired Horacio Pedro Mateus Salazar, looking a little uncomfortable with… Something. This, of course, was Eufemia's father, a man famous in his own right.-
[11:45] <@Minaplo> [As Vera (and Sol) stepped out onto Operations, Monica snapped to her feet, throwing off a salute. "Director at Ops!"]
[11:49] * Vera smiled softly, but gave her own salute as such, the gentle kind a superior gives to acknowledge their subordinate's own gesture. "As you were! It's good to begin meeting and pulling the staff together, XO de Franco, at any rate." She gave a small tug at Sol's hand. Doubtless that she had pointed out the fact that some of the Ops crew was some form of Guard or Apostle (which she
[11:49] * Vera mostly explained as 'big, tall, and a bit funny-looking, but still usually good people and really strong or special') to the girl during their trip or even before then.
[12:00] <@Minaplo> ["Indeed, colonel." Said de Franco, returning to her seat- as did the Ops Staff.-
[12:00] <@Minaplo> [Sol was already walking ahead, staring at her mother's chair- before she turned, pointing at it in an imperative manner.-
[12:01] <@Minaplo> ["Are the facilities and staff to your liking, Director?" Asked Salazar from his seat.]
[12:07] * Vera turned to the Commander and nodded curtly… even as she sort of sidestepped towards said chair at the same time. "They are quite so. The… ah, extra travel time to reach the bridge still hasn't /quite/ entered my routine, but the tactical purpose is worth that inconvenience. But I've reviewed the actual facilities on paper and in person in prior visits…" She began to get over
[12:07] * Vera to said chair to make herself comfortable, and sort of subtly eyed Sol with a 'well, come over if you want /some/ of the Chair Experience' glance before she continued. "…They more than satisfy, they fit the current needs of the Project without the… ah, excesses NERV is known for at times. The staff is quite appreciated, and I'm quite glad to have the correct balance of expertises
[12:07] * Vera needed, and in reasonable, decent people."
[12:21] <@Minaplo> ["Agreed." Said Monica, turning in her chair to face the commanders. "CAV-01 is basically the only missing puzzle left."-
[12:21] <@Minaplo> ["Hmm." Salazar nodded.-
[12:21] <@Minaplo> ["Director." He said.]
[12:21] * Vera craned her head over, also turning the chair - slowly mind you - to face him. "Yes, Commander?"
[12:24] <@Minaplo> ["Would you care to make our first official fully-staffed report request?"]
[12:30] <Vera> "That'd be well within my interests, Commander." She decided to go in ascending-rank, and right-to-left, order. "Lieutenant Kader. Status of Departmento Telepatica operations, conventional sensor effectiveness and coverage, and status of communications infrastructure with an eye towards command and control purposes would be your department, if you would? Any notes of shortfalls, gaps, or
[12:30] <Vera> lingering inefficiencies are also well-desired."
[12:35] <@Minaplo> [Kader's response time was a little -too- quick. "All Telepatica relays functional, conventional sensors operating at maximum capacity, all communications pathways are open." His eyes glanced for a quarter-second over his console. "Current communications traffic is at 11% maximum capacity, any messages we would send or receive would suffer zero slow. No shortfalls, gaps or inefficiencies
[12:35] <@Minaplo> reported or detected."]
[12:40] * Vera briefly stopped. …Apostles. Telepathy. Right. "Good. During the maintenance cycles, consider running some stress tests to ensure there's no high-signal-load failures or… something. I unfortunately am not the expert, you are, but I'm sure you are aware of proper testing procedure. Either way, thank you." Vera then turned her gaze to the next officer, even as a hand vaguely
[12:40] * Vera reached out for Sol's position. "Lieutenant Pereira. Today's report requires from you, a report on anything you can give me about infantry, armor, and aerial divisions in our direct chain of command, especially readiness and response times, progress in training and drilling, equipment availability, morale, and similar. Of course, a report on the Superheavy divisions with similar designs
[12:40] * Vera is just as crucial."
[13:03] <@Minaplo> ["All military units report optimal response times in drills. We've been told there's a one week delay on equipping the 3rd Infantry Division with railguns, and a four week delay in equipping the 1st Armored with the new H-Positron Cannons, because of the insurrection in Italy diverting resources from our contractors in France. Morale remains high. The new military ration was introduced
[13:03] <@Minaplo> last week, and feedback seems positive. Disciplinary requirements remain low. Reports regarding our Dragaos indicate that we'll have our first wing of five by December, with our first Group (four wings) by April 2018."]
[13:15] * Vera drummed her chin with one hand. "I see… I'm not completely surprised about the equipment delays given the circumstances, though it's possible you may have quartermasters with connections that might prove useful to sidestep the problem if the insurrection isn't put down soon." Though a smile, otherwise. "April… that may be cutting things very closely to possible breakdowns in
[13:15] * Vera the political situation, but it's satisfactory. Thank you." A beat, one more and then the XO. "Lieutenant Prescott, as such. Status on CAV-01's construction and arming… as well as Pilot Salazar's training and readiness, should do. As it /stands/ I've already reviewed the projected capabilities and role of the unit, and that CAV-02 and higher are sadly too far away in the future for
[13:15] * Vera relevance."
[13:21] <@Minaplo> ["Production on CAV-01 is projected to be complete by January. The integration of the LN human resources into the FCB has sped the process up dramatically." She said. "Furthermore, I'm happy to report that we're already capable of producing any requisitioned Cav weapon required. Pilot Salazar's training is progressing as expected, and the tactical schooling is reporting good marks, as are
[13:21] <@Minaplo> her close combat and ballistic reports. She was scheduled for a training session today at 0900, but it appears that she missed it without giving prior notice."]
[13:22] * Vera raised a brow at the last bit. "The technical information is good, thank you. But…" She had a certain sidelong glance at Horacio. "…Commander, were you aware of this? Should I be concerned, or did something come up?"
[13:23] <@Minaplo> [There was an awkward silence.-
[13:24] <@Minaplo> [Kader smirked a little, slipping only a second in hiding it as he turned away.-
[13:27] <@Minaplo> [De Franco and Salazar glanced at each other, but it was Gabriel who spoke. "Director, I believe that it is within your duty to develop a personal bond with the pilots." He said quietly. "Now is that time. If you like, I can take care of Sol whilst you are looking for Captain Salazar."]
[13:30] * Vera raised a further brow at Kader. Doesn't take a telepath to know when your gestural filters could use work. …But then a nod at Gabriel. "Reasonable suggestion, Vice-Commander. Sol, dear. Are you alright with staying with Gabriel for that?" …Ah yes, important command decisions filtered through a 2-year-old girl.
[13:31] <@Minaplo> [Sol eyed the man with something between suspicion and honest appraisal. "Uh-huh."]
[13:35] * Vera smiled, stood up… and then promptly leaned down to kiss her on the forehead. "If you're /extra/ good for Gabriel and Eufie's mommy and daddy, I'll consider grabbing one of Maria Escobar's sweetrolls on the way home~" …A /brief/ pause for acknowledgement, before she was off! Vera would, though, start sorting through the instincts earned from helping to manage Eufemia's 'image'
[13:35] * Vera before the FCB posting. Now what would that girl be doing instead of morning training…
[13:58] * Vera had made it about halfway through the command area, before… veering off suddenly. Cautious approaches were necessary, surely, so while for much of the distance, Vera acted calm and unaffected, as well as not suspicious… but on reaching her intended destination - the Cavaliero pilot areas… She slipped into an entirely different mode. One of /stealth/.
[14:02] <@Minaplo> [Or so perhaps she thought. Nevertheless, she'd soon sight her quarry.-
[14:07] <@Minaplo> [Sitting on a step at the bottom of the staircase, below Vera, was Eufemia Eliana de Franco Salazar. A slim, fit girl of around 5'9, edging into 5'10. She had jaw-length straight brown hair, clear brown eyes, and dainty features, with her mother's small nose and her father's cheekbones. She had a sleek, pleasant symmetry to her face and body.-
[14:07] <@Minaplo> [She didn't seem to respond to Vera's approach, either way. Maybe Vera was succeeding…?]
[14:10] * Vera fortunately wasn't interested in creepily /manifesting/ in Eufemia's presence. She just wanted to get to 'engagement range' first. But rather than /talk/, Vera first observed. Context… context. She didn't have a good angle on the face for expression, but maybe… anything being looked at, or just vacant gaze?
[14:13] <@Minaplo> [She had a mobile phone in her hand. A mobile phone with a forward and back camera. One of which was pointing at her.-
[14:13] <@Minaplo> [Ka-click.-
[14:13] <@Minaplo> ["Hi, Colonel." Said Eufemia.]
[14:16] * Vera blinked a bit at that, half wondering if this was some kind of setup! "Hello. I'm not about to bite your head off for it, but you /did/ skip training…" The tone was mostly cordial, rather than confronting.
[14:18] <@Minaplo> ["Yeah, I did." She said calmly. "Poor of me. It won't happen again."]
[14:23] * Vera had /something/ of a smile, but there was a clear note of concern in her voice. "…But you don't do things for vague reasons, at least from what I know of you. That's… honestly more important to me right now."
[14:26] <@Minaplo> ["Oh." Eufemia cancelled out of her camera mode, bringing her phone back to its splash screen.-
[14:26] <@Minaplo> ["Rafael broke up with me this morning via text." She said. "Guess I didn't feel like training."]
[14:40] * Vera …twitched suddenly. "Well that wasn't very decent of him, I'd think - or at least, not very brave…" A light hm-hm. "Was the writing on the wall, or… I mean, if you'd rather just /chill/ I'd understand that. I won't pressure you for the training now, as long as we work out some kind of makeup during the week."
[14:49] <@Minaplo> ["If it was on the wall, I didn't see it." She said. "I thought things were going alright. I mean, I wasn't crazy about him. But I enjoyed our time together. Our dates. I liked his kisses." She said, her tone calm. She opened up her text inbox. "Maybe I'm not very good at these things. I didn't see my breakups with Ernesto, Henrique, Isidora or Hugo coming either."]
[14:55] <Vera> "Mmmhh. That… that kinda sucks." Vera said with a bit of a sigh. "The only thing I can think of right now, is that there's something /missing/. Something none of them have that'd make them compatible with you. I don't know what it is, but it's just not clicking… Maybe the direction to look in should change?"
[14:57] <@Minaplo> [Eufemia finally reacted in some way now, lowering her phone to look up at Vera with a puzzled expression on her face. "What direction would that be?"]
[00:23] * Vera had a bit of a vague shrug, now. "Figure out what you really /see/ in someone you love… or figure out if there's anything tying together all those other, ah, lovers. Your goal is to make things last, right?"
[00:34] <Minaplo> ["Sure." Said Eufemia. "Or at least figure out when a relationship's not working before I get the breakup text."]
[00:36] <Vera> "Y… yeah." Vera was briefly lost in thought, as if thinking backwards. "So, nothing? Not a fight or him… them, going quiet?"
[00:37] <Minaplo> ["No fights." Said Eufemia. "They were all pretty steady. What you got in the last week was what you got in the fifth."]
[00:44] * Vera seemed more than a bit puzzled by that, looking at Eufemia. There were enough boyfriends (…and girlfriend. Maybe that might've helped with the whole ba- No. Sol is cute, it was worth it.) that it was probably down to Eufemia's choices and behavior…
[01:01] * Vera eventually scratched her chin at that. "…So not much changed at all? Hmmm." Then Vera got an angle. "I might not be the best example here, but… Why do you think I have a daughter, but no boyfriend or husband to show for it?"
[01:07] <Minaplo> ["Well, ruling out the possibility that she's adopted, the fact that she shares your last names suggests that you're not a widow." Said Eufemia. "The only real relevant answer here was that you, er…"]
[01:10] * Vera nodded. "It's enough to give you the idea. But what did /I/ do wrong? I'm not in a steady relationship either… It's like… I think I know what the issue might be in your case, and if we look at a sort of 'mirroring' case… It might help?"
[01:17] <Minaplo> ["I'm not sure I'm comfortable discerning what you did wrong." Said Eufemia, sounding a little cautious. "So forgive me if I say anything offensive. But was your mistake that you were too physical?"]
[01:25] <Vera> "Well, or without enough emotional going on to back it up. What I think ended up happening, is… not as far from what happens in your relationships." Vera said a bit calmly, with a bit of a disarming smile. "I think… I think that neither of us were willing to /really/ get close, whether consciously or not. If nothing changed with your relationships over months, then can you really say
[01:25] <Vera> you got any closer to them…? And for me, it wasn't healthy either, nothing lasted that long - close in body but not in soul."
[01:35] <Minaplo> ["So you're saying I wasn't close to them." Said Eufemia calmly.]
[01:39] <Vera> "Sssomething like that. Or like, they expected you to 'take the next step' and you didn't."
[01:42] <Minaplo> ["The next step."]
[01:46] * Vera actually was blushing a bit. "…L-like… going ahead and getting physical, or… being less casual, or the like."
[01:47] <Minaplo> ["Kissing is physical."]
[01:49] <Vera> "Hugging… cuddling… /that/." Vera hoped '/that/' was obvious. She was already toeing a delicate line. "Maybe that 'other direction' thing was… because I got the feeling that you haven't yet met someone you'd feel comfortable doing that with…?"
[01:58] <Minaplo> ["Before we continue, you're going to define cuddling specifically as…?"]
[02:01] * Vera quirked her brow slightly. "…Holding the other person close and staying that way. The 'that' was uh… referring to something else, not a summary."
[02:20] <Minaplo> ["Right. I was afraid you were using 'cuddling' as a euphemism for sex." Said Eufemia. Or would that be a eufemism? "I've hugged. I've hugged all of my partners. I can't say I remember cuddling for too long." She said thoughtfully. "I just overheat, it becomes uncomfortable. It's not an emotional thing." She said calmly. "Rafael tried to cuddle a few times. He put his arm around me in a cinema once, but people get ideas if they see me like that in public, you know how it goes." She said.-
[02:24] <Minaplo> ["It's not that I don't understand what you mean." Said Eufemia. "It's not that I'm particularly against it all, it just doesn't really make me feel anything. I mean, a few weeks ago, I let Rafael touch my breasts, and it wasn't unpleasant, but it wasn't as though it was very exciting either, so I made him stop after a little bit so we could keep playing our game. Maybe I'm missing the point, I don't know. You're better at this than I am. Do you really think it's just because I haven't met the right person?"-
[02:24] <Minaplo> ["Because that seems a little finnicky."]
[02:40] <Vera> "It might, really. It might instead be different priorities." Vera suggested. "Why do you even go after lovers…?"
[02:45] <Minaplo> ["I'm not really a loner, Colonel Freitas." She said. "I like doing things with people. I find that comfortable, pleasant, just spending time with one person doing things together. It's not boring, at least, and I'm bored a lot."]
[02:48] <Vera> "…But is that a lover, or a close friend?" Vera asked.
[02:54] <Minaplo> ["I suppose it's just a close friend, isn't it, Colonel?"]
[03:00] <Vera> "That was my impression, Pilot." Vera intentionally mimicked the address-by-rank. "If you truly want /love/ and /intimacy/ still, you're going to have to stop and think about what your partner wants and expects from you, as much as what you want and expect from them. I mean, like… They might be calling it off because they're expecting things to get all…" Mild blush. 24 isn't damn old
[03:00] <Vera> enough to avoid it, it seemed. "Hot and heavy, when you just want someone to be close to and do things together with."
[03:11] <Minaplo> ["But what if I do want love and intimacy, yet don't really want much in the way of the physical aspect?" Asked Eufemia. "Should I just wait until I find someone that can rouse that interest in me, or what?"]
[03:21] * Vera lowered her head a little. "You'll have a bit more trouble at this kind of age - hormones, all that - but… Maybe just tell them ahead of time. That you're not comfortable with it getting too physical? If someone /loves you/, or grows to…" Vera trailed off, letting that hang.
[03:23] <Minaplo> ["Understood."-
[03:24] <Minaplo> [Eufemia closed her phone up, putting it away. She got to her feet. "Oh, well. Now might be a good time to just swear off romance for a year or two. If things like this keep happening, it'll interfere with my work here. Do you mind taking me back to Ops, Colonel? We can schedule a new training session time in there."]
[03:28] * Vera frowned a little bit at the bit about swearing off romance, as well as the calm and measured tone that all was delivered in. Something felt… wrong. Something she hadn't seen much of before, since Eufemia's love-life hadn't been a topic much, before. "I wouldn't mind taking you back there at all, no." She nearly moved to offer a hand, but between Eufemia already being on her feet,
[03:28] * Vera and having /just gotten off of a talk about love and sex/, Vera retracted it swiftly. No. Not the right message at all, it won't come off as just kind.
[03:35] <Minaplo> [And so they headed back to Ops, which was as much as they'd left it, although Pereira had apparently managed to fetch them all drinks at some point. Gabriel was one of the few who went without; he was instead bouncing Sol on his knee, singing her a nursery rhyme.-
[03:35] <Minaplo> ["Welcome back, Colonel." Said de Franco. She smiled as she saw Eufemia. "I see you found our knight errant."]
[03:39] * Vera gave a soft little bow to her XO - and Eufemia's mom, thus. "Yes, I think I'll let her tell you what she feels appropriate, but we can just reschedule the training, I at least won't be bothered if my superiors aren't." Though then a glance to Gabriel, with a bit of a grin. "You do it so well."
[03:40] <Minaplo> ["As well as you, Colonel?"-
[03:40] <Minaplo> ["Nuuu." Mumbled Sol.]
[03:42] * Vera peered at Sol, with a wink. "Apparently a vote of no confidence has been registered by the lower house, heh." Vera moved a bit closer, to bring the adorable and apparently-sulky redhead into her arms!
[03:43] <Minaplo> [And she took it, running off and leaping into her mother's arms.-
[03:44] <Minaplo> [Eufemia, meanwhile, nodded at her parents, before heading over to the Ops Staff.-
[03:44] <Minaplo> ["Mind if I have one of those drinks, Lieutenant Pereira?"-
[03:44] <Minaplo> ["Not at all, Captain. Here you go."-
[03:44] <Minaplo> ["Thank you." She took it, sipping at it for a moment.-
[03:45] <Minaplo> ["Lieutenant Kader, I thank you for your offer of a date earlier," She said, "And I'd be interested in pursuing it, but I should let you know that I'm not interested in sex right now. I hope that's not a dealbreaker."-
[03:46] <Minaplo> [She turned towards Prescott, apparently oblivious to the near-synchronised explosion of shock and gasps across the room. Kedar spat his drink out over his console, his cup clattering to the ground.-
[03:46] <Minaplo> ["When's our next best slot for training, Lieutenant Prescott? I've missed a session, so I typically try to make it up in twice the time."-
[03:46] <Minaplo> [Prescott stared back at her, a bright red blush across her face. "Er."]
[03:48] * Vera …paused. Then paused again. She reflexively squeezed Sol a touch closer (not painfully), and… just… stared, for lack of a better gesture. "…I think the road is long indeed…" She mumbled, mostly to herself.
[03:50] <Minaplo> ["You have some explaining to do, Lieutenant." Growled Salazar.-
[03:50] <Minaplo> [Eufemia merely turned and gave Vera a hopeful thumbs up.]
[03:56] * Vera felt her face slowly sinking. The hand not cradling her young, impressionable daughter, somehow seemed ready and close-by to catch the sinking ship, guiding it into the abyss of embarrassment and frustration. Picard would be proud, if he were less fictional.
