Komm Susser Tod 2 4 1

[08:22] * Vera had, as on many days before, and many days to come (arguably), performed her routine. Wake up, breakfast, tidy the uniform, get her itinerary on her tablet, go to work, get Sol into the care of on-base staff, all of that. By the end, she had the potentially dubious decision of entrusting Sol with Lieutenant Prescott (and mmmaybe a slightly lingering surreptitiously-assigned security
[08:22] * Vera detail if Prescott hadn't handled that - which she might have), because it came to pass that she would be having dinner with Vice-Commander Levin this night.
[08:35] <@Minaplo> [And so a drive later, she'd find herself outside of his door- which he would open. "Colonel Freitas. Please come in."-
[08:37] <@Minaplo> [Levin's off-duty clothes were quite different to the gigantic uniform he wore at base. His outfit consisted of a pair of loose-fitting black trousers under a voluminous white wrap-around robe, which he had tied tightly around himself.-
[08:39] <@Minaplo> [The interior of his home was comfortable, although not greatly decorated- in fact it looked rather plain. The door led into the living room, a moderately large space, containing a flatscreen television, a normal-sized couch and a recliner armchair that was so huge, Vera could have unfolded it and used it as a bed.]
[08:44] * Vera had never actually been to a house owned by a Guard - regardless of Kader's possible desires to the contrary - until now, and it mostly stood out with /dat chair/. Otherwise, it was largely an iconic view of Levin's personality, something she largely knew already, but still slightly recorded for sheer curiosity. Plain decoration, comfortable design… Sort of fit his martial-ascetic
[08:44] * Vera air a bit. "Thank you, Vice-Commander Levin." She did say promptly, though, as she saw herself in! Also out of uniform, the woman was instead in a fairly casual outfit (but not /too casual/) of a soft orangeish blouse and khaki trousers to match.
[08:48] <@Minaplo> ["Gabriel is fine, if you prefer, Colonel. Would you like something to drink?"]
[08:50] * Vera thought about it - the offer, that is. "Ah, yeah I can use Gabriel then. …And, hm. If you have a lighter white wine, or perhaps some fruit juice…?" There was a mild cant of her head. "I admit I might not be /entirely/ sure just which drink is either appropos… or that I'm in the mood for."
[08:56] <@Minaplo> ["White wine it is." Said Gabriel. "I'm also cooking some glazed ham- probably not something you're used to eating, but it's one of the dishes I'm capable of cooking well. Is that alright?"]
[08:58] <Vera> "Oh! That actually sounds good. …Sugary glaze… I've had /ham/ before, so I think glazed ham…" A brief pause and smile. "Yes, I'd very much look forward to that kind of meal." Beat. "…And you can feel free to call me Vera, likewise."
[09:15] <@Minaplo> ["Deal."-
[09:16] <@Minaplo> [And so a few minutes later, Vera would find herself on the couch with a glass of white wine, whilst Gabriel sat on his giant chair, with a mug of beer that fit proportionately into his hand, which meant it was the size of Vera's -head-.-
[09:16] <@Minaplo> ["So, you left Sol with someone tonight?"]
[09:19] * Vera nodded, taking her glass and making a demure sip, carefully /not/ lingering on his beer mug. "Yes, with Prescott and a modicum of, ah, extra security. Aware that the girl's logistical sense means she already knew where to scare up the manpower, but… well." Vera stared for a moment into said wine, watching a few bubbles pop in it. "…The kidnapping is putting me on edge a bit,
[09:19] * Vera even if arguably my own daughter is of lower strategic value than our only pilot - and that I should /know/ that."
[09:24] <@Minaplo> ["That's understandable." Said Gabriel. "A parent's instinct at work?"]
[09:25] <Vera> "…I guess." Vera said with a vaguely defeated tone. "I'm trying, at any rate. But how have you been going as of late?"
[09:34] <@Minaplo> ["I'm good. I've been reviewing- ah, I should hold off." Said Gabriel. "Have you met Barca?"]
[09:38] * Vera sipped… and during that, blinked. "Ah, no, no I haven't."
[09:45] <@Minaplo> ["Barca!"-
[09:48] <@Minaplo> [There was the sound of padding paws, and out of a sideroom bounded a dog. It stood maybe two feet high at the shoulder, and was covered in a dense, fluffy pure white coat. The dog bounded about the Hugechair for a few seconds before running up and leaping onto Vera's couch, where it proceeded to bury its head in her neck. Half of Vera's face vanished beneath a voluminous curtain of fur.]
[09:51] * Vera had for whatever reason failed to predict it was a pet until the call. And while she expected a dog, a /fluffy as sin/ dog, was not at all… nor that it'd go right for her! She craftily set the wineglass somewhere (or maneuvered it deftly) and proceeded to make a muffled "Ack!" With the dog in her face!
[09:55] <@Minaplo> ["Down, Barca." Said Gabriel. The dog obediently pulled away, sitting down next to its master. Barca stared at Vera, its tail wagging wildly.-
[09:56] <@Minaplo> ["Sorry about that." Said a smirking Gabriel. "He's a friendly dog, but he's as dumb as a brick."]
[09:57] * Vera slowly tried to recover her posture, straightening the blouse a little bit! "I have found that to be true of many dogs, really!" But… then a sip again. "…Am I overgeneralizing, or is he a poodle? I don't recall another breed so… fluffy."
[10:04] <@Minaplo> ["He's a Samoyed."]
[10:06] * Vera paused. And if she were more meta, would realize that her eyes would be able to tell where her player can't. "…I feel extremely blind right now, you realize. We had cats."
[10:11] <@Minaplo> ["Oh, really?"]
[10:13] * Vera nodded, if ruefully. "Yes. A tabby and a siamese, both girls. It was pre-Impact, though… Even if they /had/ survived, they're either dead of age or lost to feralism by now. …but between that and the programs, I'm /terrible/ at recognizing dog breeds or /so it seems/."
[10:24] <@Minaplo> ["Well, we all have our strengths and our weaknesses. You should be thankful for one thing, though…"]
[10:27] * Vera tilted her head with some confusion, at the segue. "…Ah? Which thing would that be, Gabriel?"
[10:32] <@Minaplo> ["There's a trend amongst many Iron Guard to take pets. However as you can expect, we tend to go for Iron Guard-sized animals." He said with a small smile. "Lions or panthers instead of cats, or eagles instead of parrots. I once knew a Guard who owned an elephant. A newly-popular choice are those Armored Lions that seem to be popping up for whatever reason… Now, I think we both know that
[10:32] <@Minaplo> you'd prefer an overfriendly samoyed to an overfriendly Armored Lion."]
[10:35] * Vera had read the reports. And scrunched her face a bit. "…I don't have the pH value for preferring the Lion in that case, no."
[10:36] <@Minaplo> [He laughed.-
[10:36] <@Minaplo> ["How's Sol with animals? Has she been to the zoo yet?"]
[10:41] * Vera smiled a bit. "Once or twice. She really likes the monkeys! … And hippos. I'm not sure why the hippos."
[10:43] <@Minaplo> ["Well, in that case, I'll try to procure a baby Hippo for her birthday."]
[10:47] * Vera blinked. "…I do recall hippos have a tendency to be highly lethal. And I don't know if that is a good or bad thing."
[10:50] <@Minaplo> ["It's considered a point in their favour amongst the Iron Guard. We typically prefer our animals to be as lethal as possible." Said Gabriel. "That said, this reminds me. There was actually an outbreak of Hippos in, of all the places in the world, Colombia."]
[10:52] * Vera twitched, and an eye bulged as if asking to pop a monocle she'd never wear. "…Why in Colombia. Did… did they have a zoo? Or a surplus? … …Did NERV or the LN keep a secret Angel hybrid hippo clone laboratory there or something equally nonsense like that?"
[10:53] <@Minaplo> ["The answer is both more incredible and more banal. Have you ever heard of Pablo Escobar?"]
[10:55] * Vera …pondered. "I recognize it on hearing but feel I should actually know who he is."
[10:56] <@Minaplo> ["He was a pre-impact Colombian drug lord. One of the wealthiest criminals in history. He made his money on trafficking massive amounts of cocaine."-
[11:01] <@Minaplo> ["And like most egomaniacs with more money than anyone could possibly need, he spent it on outfitting his mansion with an exotic zoo. When they killed Escobar, his mansion was abandoned, but the Colombian government didn't feel like sparing the effort to actually move or deal with the Hippos. They escaped, settled on a nearby river… And the terrain is lush all year 'round, unlike their
[11:01] <@Minaplo> homeland, meaning that this, with the lack of actual predators, means that Colombia is better suited for Hippos than their natural habitat. Nowadays, they estimate there's anywhere between 150 to 300 hippos on that river- all of whom are descended from the original 4 that Escobar imported."]
[11:03] <Vera> "So if you actually were to find such a hippo for her…" She mulled. "Well, were it not for Colombia's continued enmity with Brazil, it'd be as if there was history, if egomaniacal criminal history, in the animal too." But a nod. "His being a drug lord is probably why I both knew the sound of the name, but nothing about who he actually /was/."
[11:09] <@Minaplo> ["Indeed. Really, he was probably before our time. But it's just a strange, curious story I've picked up. As you might imagine, stories of massive, dangerous creatures in wildly out-of-place locales hold special places in my heart."]
[11:14] * Vera smirked. "Not surprising. It's a mythos much like your own, to the point where I start to get way too immersed in pondering how often that happens. …That is, people being drawn to ideas that echo who and what they are - like, again, this tale."
[11:14] <@Minaplo> ["Indeed? And what draws you?"]
[11:18] * Vera tilted her head. "…An intolerable compulsion to be mother to far more than my own biological daughter."
[11:25] <@Minaplo> ["Interesting…"-
[11:28] <@Minaplo> ["Now I'm a little curious. Do you plan on giving Sol siblings one day, then?"]
[11:28] * Vera instantly colored. "…That'd need another father to be available."
[11:31] <@Minaplo> ["Hypothetically speaking, let's say there is."]
[11:32] * Raphael (ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.108ldr.2-61-601-85d|leahpaR#ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.108ldr.2-61-601-85d|leahpaR) Quit (Ping timeout)

[11:33] * Vera narrowed her eyes, mostly to give the /impression/ of suspicion than show it for real. "Gabriel. Are you matchmaking for me now.
[11:34] <@Minaplo> ["I wouldn't dare." He said with a grin.]
[11:37] * Vera reclined, with an again-mock 'placated' look. "Good." But a moment, where she nearly finished her wine. "…Though, who /would/ be this hypothetical?"
[11:40] <@Minaplo> ["No, seriously, I don't have anyone in mind. I genuinely just wanted to know what you'd consider the ideal number of children."]
[11:44] * Vera paused, again. "…Okay, okay, I… I'm far too used to… uh…" She pulled at the collar of her blouse nervously. "The catty attitude of the latter parts of the Program. But I think a second is fine? …If I wanted more I'd wait for whenever peace was fairly ensured."
[11:50] <@Minaplo> ["Understandable."-
[11:50] <@Minaplo> [Gabriel look a long drink of his beer. "How's the wine?"]
[11:51] * Vera /finally/ drained it right as he asked! "Good! Not a connosieur but it seems like it's about as 'light' as I usually prefer? …I'm not quite a fruity-cocktails girl, but red wine is too bodied for me. …Beer, at times, but… doesn't feel quite 'right' for my image."
[11:52] <@Minaplo> ["Oh?"]
[11:53] * Vera waved her hand. "Not some 'high culture' thing, mind you. It just has a certain bite that I somehow just avoid, even if it isn't the bite of hardness, just more body and flavor."
[11:53] <@Minaplo> ["I see. Well, you're probably lucky that you didn't ask for thisbrew, then."]
[11:55] * Vera pauses. "…Does it hit like a truck. I'm thinking it hits like a truck."
[11:56] <@Minaplo> ["Well, here's a question for you. Iron Guard biology is immune to the effects of alcohol, but we like the buzz of being slightly tipsy as much as the next person. So how does one make an Iron Guard drink?"]
[11:58] <Vera> "If immune is /literal/…" Vera pondered. "Then you'd need some other compound that can produce that buzz, which is likely beyond unfriendly to non-Guard. If immune is more of an 'effectively immune', then that brew has a truly frightening alcohol percentage by any other standard."
[11:59] <@Minaplo> ["The former. As the story goes, two young Guard initiates spent fourteen straight hours trying to come up with a brew, and eventually struck success by adding steadily more potent toxins to the mix."]
[12:04] * Vera nodded. "…Considering human baseline can handle the highest meaningful concentration of mere alcohol - if not without great protest - that'd make sense anyway." She did seem a bit fascinated, though! "Ahhh, but at least you're gracious enough to either keep or get ahead of time, things your guests both enjoy, and survive. Not that that is anything /but/ what is expected of a
[12:04] * Vera Vice-Commander."
[12:07] <@Minaplo> [He gave her a gracious nod. "I try to make a home that can accomodate guests, yes. That couch is too small for me, for example, yet there it sits. When you're my size, you make a few visits to other peoples' homes, you start to realise how awkward and uncomfortable things can become when the design doesn't accomodate for you."]
[12:14] * Vera nodded. "And to see, for as much as population means you're in the minority, that they have the same problem with things sized for you." A slight smirk. "…I have visited Sol at school before. And forced to sit in a chair meant for a toddler. …It's just as unpleasant as you'd imagine."
[12:16] <@Minaplo> ["Quite."-
[12:17] <@Minaplo> [Barca had since settled down, lying lazily next to Gabriel's chair. At this point Vera would be able to smell the glazed ham's juicy, smoky scent wafting through the windows.-
[12:18] <@Minaplo> ["So, how do you feel regarding Operation Shadow Sabre now that it's over and done with?"]
[12:27] * Raphael (~ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.108ldr.2-61-601-85d|oaT#ua.moc.tensutpo.dlq.108ldr.2-61-601-85d|oaT) Quit (Ping timeout)

[12:33] * Vera folded her arms a little bit, though she /did/ wrinkle her nose at Dat Ham. "Well, I'm of the opinion it went about as well as it could. Some casualties sure, but… Honestly even after some of the harder parts of handling armor and human waves…" She had an odd look on her face. "It felt a bit like punching out a schoolyard bully with a power fist."
[12:34] <@Minaplo> ["Disproportionate retribution is the best kind of retribution."]
[12:36] <Vera> "I won't /doubt/ that there was some reveling in the carnage." Beat. "Knight Jani really was not pleased at that tank's continuing existence, for example."
[12:41] <@Minaplo> [Gabriel laughed.-
[12:44] <@Minaplo> ["Guard are trained to use shock, awe and maybe a little theatricality to break our enemy's spirit. For Assault Guard like Jani, this typically means finding the single most powerful object he can find and punching it until it explodes. And if his biotypical enemies interpret that as him hating the very idea of armored vehicles, well. Imagine how he must feel about them?"-
[12:44] <@Minaplo> [A pause.-
[12:45] <@Minaplo> ["I once saw an Assault Guard land on top of a VTOL gunship, destroy its engines with his Chainsword, then 'surf' the falling craft, using his jet pack to guide its fall into a column of battle tanks."-
[12:45] <@Minaplo> ["They like doing stupid things to vehicles."]
[12:47] <Vera> "Theatricality is a human universal, no matter your biology." She smirked widely. "I do remember squabbling with Kader over unit names, and at that moment realizing that here I was, making cute little Shadow-this and Shadow-that names for units that might be disbanded back into the main Defesa ranks within mere days."
[12:48] <@Minaplo> ["Quite." Said Gabriel with a grin. "It's in moments like that that you appreciate the sort of man Pereira is, for example."]
[12:50] * Vera sniggered lightly, something not quite approaching a giggle - she just wasn't in the mindset for it. "Who finds all of that largely a silly distraction. Not that he's purely /dour/, but that he has a strong respect for professionalism."
[07:14] <@Mianplo> ["He's a line officer through and through." Said Gabriel. "Not very inspiring, maybe, but not everyone can or should be a general."]
[07:15] <Vera> "But of course. I have heard of the phrase 'kicked upstairs' before. He serves best where he /is/." Vera said with clear certainty in her voice.
[07:27] <@Mianplo> ["You're happy with your team, then?"]
[07:29] * Vera nodded succinctly. "As much as they do need a touch more cohesiveness, I feel mostly rewarded for the care I took in deciding candidates." A brief look around. "It's certainly better than finding I made a big mistake in a posting recommendation."
[07:41] <@Mianplo> [Barca the Samoyed was sitting by his master's side, his fluffy tail wagging wildly as he stared at Vera.-
[07:41] <@Mianplo> ["Yes, about that. What do you think of the relationship between them?" Asked Gabriel.]
[07:44] * Vera scratched her chin briefly. "I would think that, largely, Pereira and Kader are at odds over tone and personality - firm and loose. Prescott probably draws some unwanted attention from Kader for being a reasonably attractive woman…" She thought for a long while. "I can't say I've heard much between Pereira and Prescott. They seem mainly to have a professional relationship. I
[07:44] * Vera wouldn't be /fully/ surprised if he finds her scheming energy irritating, though. But he isn't so animated about that if at all, as he is towards Kader's conduct."
[07:48] <@Mianplo> ["Any ideas on working that out?"]
[07:54] <Vera> "Nothing very substantial." Vera admitted with a bit of a sigh. "I am imagining that Kader needs something to ground him in serious business, else he lets himself wander in his amorous thoughts. But yet… one cannot be serious perpetually, so I feel a need to find some kind of other outlet for him."
[07:55] <@Mianplo> ["Mmm. I admit, Kader's situation is a little unusual."]
[07:57] * Vera pursed her lips curiously. "Mmm, how so?"
[08:00] <@Mianplo> ["The process that turns a human into a Guard is intensive and intrusive." Said Gabriel. "The process renders us sterile, and most of us show little interest in anything close to a romantic relationship. Kader however has a very appropriate youthful interest in it, however, which is- unusual."]
[08:01] * Vera nodded her head, if awkwardly. "…My memory was failing me, I thought it was odd but couldn't put my finger on why." She closed her eyes in introspection. "…So there is, ostensibly, some reason for it."
[08:06] <@Mianplo> ["Quite. Probably a small flaw or mutation in the process. He is early generation, after all."]
[08:07] * Vera nodded. "Nothing horribly worrisome. But it… sadly does mean that I can't tap on Guard culture for a real answer."
[08:09] <@Mianplo> ["Fortunately, plenty of other cultures have ways of sorting out hormonal teenage boys."]
[08:10] * Vera chuckled softly. "Yes, not that I know them! I figure the outlet idea is still with some merit."
[08:14] <@Mianplo> ["You weren't wrong. If Jani ever proves to be too much a problem, for example…"]
[08:16] * Vera chuckled a little bit /more/. "…Yes, I think I get enough of an idea… Albeit not quite which one, whether 'blowing off steam' or having a senior reproach them."
[08:19] <@Mianplo> ["Sometimes those are the same thing in the Iron Guard."]
[08:20] * Vera …had an amused scoff at that. "Right! …I get the sense if you were talking to someone involved in the NeoSpartan program, rather than NeoAlexander, there wouldn't be this much fussing around."
[08:21] <@Mianplo> ["We do share certain similarities, don't we?"]
[08:24] <Vera> "Not just soldiers, but warriors." A slight lowering of her head. "People who know that much of their purpose is to fight - even if later, the wars will end and they will need to make a new purpose… the fact remains that in war, they have a home. …and the culture to match. A NeoAlexander is more likely to be used to politics, manipulation, and a world still martial in nature but far
[08:24] <Vera> from the art of /strength/."
[08:30] <@Mianplo> ["The difference between those such as yourself for whom war is your profession, and those such as myself for whom war is our culture."]
[08:31] <Vera> "And such a difference it is!" Vera said with a surprisingly energetic gesture! "But… Then you, and anyone else who knows the culture, would be his best hope."
[08:44] <@Mianplo> ["This much is true… Perhaps I need to look into his circumstances and tell you what I find."]
[08:48] * Vera settled back down again. "Yes. And I do thank you for the intervention."
[08:55] <@Mianplo> ["Not a problem."-
[08:55] <@Mianplo> [He leaned forward and, with a sigh, got to his feet, rising to his full seven and a half feet of height. "I'm going to check on the food."-
[08:55] <@Mianplo> [And so he went, leaving Vera alone with her thoughts and also a dog.]
[08:56] <Vera> And also a dog! Vera looked at Barca for a moment with something of a smile, seeming more interested in him than in brooding on some deep thought.
[09:00] <@Mianplo> [The dog seemed to take that as an invite (dogs take many things as invites) and bolted from its spot, leaping up onto the couch. With all the presumption of a king it plopped itself down on Vera's lap and rolled over, exposing its fluffy belly to her.]
[09:04] * Vera laughed a little bit, even if she wasn't /quite/ ready for the powerful leap! …But soon, she was petting and rubbing that belly, knowing she had to be a bit more boisterous than she would with a cat.
[09:05] <@Mianplo> [Barca squirmed pleasantly and stretched out.-
[09:13] <@Mianplo> [A few minutes later she heard Gabriel re-enter- the smell of glazed, roasted ham thickened in the air.-
[09:13] <@Mianplo> ["Are you alright with eating in half an hour or so?" he called from the kitchen.]
[09:14] * Vera called back to him at that. "Quite fine!"
[12:57] <Minaplo> [And so ten minutes later, Gabriel returned, sitting back into his giant chair.-
[13:01] <Minaplo> ["Oh, I'm sure you've heard already, but you'll be happy to note that our little Captain seems to have gone unharmed by the ordeal."]
[13:04] * Vera nodded her head at that, readily… still patting Barca if he hadn't dropped down yet. "I had heard, yes! The only injuries she had were ones sustained during the escape, and those were largely trivial. Did they just not have time, or…?"
[13:13] <Minaplo> ["Unsure. From what we know, it seems as though their goal might have been a very public execution."]
[13:16] <Vera> "Hmmm. I can see that. I guess if that were the case, her death was not the only purpose." A bit of a frown. "I was sort of wondering why they did not put such great effort to kill her once she entered the battle - that surely would've accomplished their goals… and if they were fanatical enough to consider suicide to protect their cause…"
[13:33] <Minaplo> ["I think they may have had other things on their mind at the time." Said Gabriel with a smile. "Besides, have tried to kill our little Captain before. It's a job that's easier said than done."]
[13:36] * Raphael (~ua.moc.tensutpo.wsn.lsd.31-252-632-022d|oaT#ua.moc.tensutpo.wsn.lsd.31-252-632-022d|oaT) has joined #nervfrance
[13:45] <Vera> "…This is true… She's got resilience of a kind that would stand hell before it broke." Vera said almost… gently.
[13:57] <Minaplo> ["I suspect we might see that tested before the chaos ends."]
[14:06] * Vera …frowned again, at that. "Very likely. The worst is likely to come, knowing how the current climate is."
[14:20] <Minaplo> ["Mmm."-
[14:20] <Minaplo> ["Unfortunately we have as yet been unable to extract certain important details from your captive, such as how he kidnapped Eufemia in the first place."]
[14:25] * Vera got nearly full-on sulky at that. "The bastard… It's such a /gap/. How can they - they were so /easy/ to disperse - be capable of that?"
[14:39] <Minaplo> ["I'm not sure. We've tried interrogating the other captives we found, but they don't have a clue either. I suspect that whoever it was wasn't just a rank and file militant. They might've had some elite member who managed to escape or wasn't there for the battle."]
[14:48] * Vera clenched her fist a little bit, before relaxing to instead softly rub at Barca again. "…It's probably likely, really." She admitted, but leaned back now. "But it doesn't make it /better/."
[14:59] <Minaplo> ["No, it doesn't." Admitted Gabriel. "But there's not a lot we can do now except to review our security arrangements, expand them and hope we stop it from happening again."]
[15:07] * Vera slowly nodded, seeming almost less than pleased, but… "It'd be very irritating if they had some kind of highly-trained Apostle or such for this kind of operation." Beat. "…defense against personal AT tactics is so frustrating, and I am having /trouble/ thinking of an easier way to quickly have overwhelming capability. At least we can try to cover conventional spec-ops."
[15:20] <Minaplo> ["Agreed. I've tried to get in touch with some old friends to see if they know of any such figures showing up."]
[15:26] * Vera was rubbing Barca almost to center herself, because it seemed… we might've found one of the woman's weaknesses. Obvious blindspots. "Thank you. …I'm sorry, I'm rather frustrated at this."
[15:39] <Minaplo> ["That's understandable, Vera." Said Gabriel. "However, getting the job done takes priority. Tomorrow we can discuss with the Captain and her family some of our proposals. We'll see how it goes- being able to post a Telepatica near their house would help, but they might be uncomfortable with it."]
[15:55] * Vera definitely noticed the awkward possibilities in that. "…I get the feeling she may blanch or support it, depending on the argument. I'm not sure." But then she sighed again. "We can, yes. The need to /focus/ is vital."
[16:02] <Minaplo> ["Agreed."-
[16:04] <Minaplo> [He got to his feet again. "I think I'll check on the food. One moment."]
[16:11] * Vera nodded cordially, if not losing the troubled tone. "Sounds like a good idea." But from there, she was rubbing Barca softly, thinking. Thinking of just what the missing piece was.
