Trinary Fusions are Fusions between three Personae. Although more complex than a binary Fusion, Trinary Fusions create more powerful Personae.
Step One: Select Persona
First and foremost, select the three Personae you intend to use.
Example:William Redspring selects three Personae: Kokopelli, Urd and Angel.
Step Two: Determine Arcana
The Arcana of the Persona being produced depends on the components. In a Trinary Fusion, the produced Persona depends on the Personas involved. If one Arcana is not represented, then the Persona will be fused into a Persona of that Arcana. If all three Arcanae are represented, then the player may choose the fusion's Arcana.
Example:William Redspring has three Arcanae: Lovers, Justice and Fortune. Kokopelli, Urd Angel are Lovers, Fortune and Justice respectively; thus, William may pick which Arcana it will be. He chooses Justice.
Step Three: Determine Grade
When fusing three Personae, note down their Grades and their Base XP, as shown in the table below.
PERSONA GradeS AND BASE XP |
Grade |
Base XP |
1 |
500 |
2 |
1,000 |
3 |
1,500 |
4 |
2,000 |
5 |
2,500 |
6 |
3,000 |
7 |
3,500 |
8 |
4,000 |
9 |
4,500 |
10 |
5,000 |
Take the parent Persona participating in the fusion and note their Grade.
Example: William is fusing a Grade 1 Lovers Persona, Kokopelli, a Grade 1 Justice Persona, Angel, and a Grade 2 Fortune Persona, Urd. Kokopelli has 300 Gained XP, Angel has 100 and Urd has 200.
Take the Grade of the two lowest-Gradeed Personae and add them together. Then, find the average (ie. divide the result by two) of this number, rounding down. This is the Low Persona Number. Then, add the Low Persona Number to the Grade of the third Persona (the highest-Gradeed one), find the average of that number (ie. divide it by two), rounding down, then add +2 to the result. This is the Grade Product.
Example: William's *Kokopelli*, Angel and Urd are Grade 1, 1 and 2 respectively. He adds the two lowest Grades- Kokopelli and Angel- together: 1+1=2. Then, he finds the average by dividing by two, producing 1. This is the Low Persona Number. Then he adds this number (1) to the Grade of Urd, 2: 2+1=3. He then finds the average by dividing by two, producing 1.5, rounding down to 1. He then adds +2 to this number to find the Grade Product: 3.
Consult the Fused Persona's Arcana List, and find the Persona whose Grade corresponds to the Grade Product created above. This is the Persona that is produced.
Example: William's Fused Persona is of the Justice Arcana. His Grade Product is 3, and so his Fused Persona is the 2nd Grade Fortune Persona, Principality.
Step Three A: Fusing Personas of the Same Arcana
When Fusing three Personas that belong to the same Arcana, obey the following rules:
1) Three Personas of the same Arcana, when fused, always produce a Persona of the same Arcana.
2) Follow the Fusion rules outlined above as normal. However, Fusion can never produce a Persona that is the same as one of the component Personas. If a Fusion would result in the produced Persona being the same as one of the component Persona, then increase the Grade of the fused Persona by one.
3) If this would also result in the produced Persona being the same as one of the component Persona, then increase the Grade again.
4) If this would result in a Persona with a Grade higher than ten, then the Fusion is impossible and cannot be done.
Step Four: Apply Social Link XP and starting Gained XP
Each Grade has a 'Base XP' rating. Note the Persona's Arcana. Then, take the Persona's Base XP rating and multiply it by the Social Link's XP Bonus. This is the amount of Social Link XP the Persona gains on fusion, which may be spent to upgrade the Persona.
Example: Principality is of the Justice Arcana, and is Grade 3, giving the Persona a Base XP rating of 1,500. William's Justice Social-Link is at Grade 2, giving him a 20% Social Link XP Bonus. Thus, he multiplies 1,500*.2, giving him a result of 300.. The Persona thus starts with 300 S-Link XP.
Now, determine the Persona's starting Gained XP. Gained XP is XP that a Persona gains by being used- since this strengthens the Persona, it means that stronger, trained Persona produce stronger children. To do this, find the Total Gained XP amounts for the parent Personae, and then add them together and find the average. The Persona gains this much starting Gained XP. This Gained XP may, in turn, be passed on to this Persona's descendants when it is fused.
Example: Kokopelli, Angel and Urd have 300, 100 and 200 Total Gained XP apiece. They add this amount together, equalling 600, then divide by two to find the average of 300. Principality begins its life with this much Gained XP to spend.
Although both S-Link XP and Gained XP can be spent to upgrade the Persona and unlock talents, make sure to track Gained XP separately; Gained XP is always passed onto a descendant Persona, but S-Link XP only applies on fusion and is a set amount.
Step Five: Apply Special Trinary Aptitude
A Persona created by a Trinary Fusion gains one last benefit over that of a Binary Fusion. Once Gained XP has been factored in, the fused Persona may choose one Aptitude possessed by one of its Parents. This Aptitude may not be one it already possesses, or an Ineptitude of the fused Persona. The Persona adds the chosen Aptitude to its list of Aptitudes.
