Rei S Holiday

[20:18] <AdEvaGM> [[Session 52: NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. Date: 26th July, 2017. Episode title: Rei's Holiday.-
[20:24] <AdEvaGM> [Thunderdome. The word had been on everyone's lips when they'd gotten back to civilization. With only a few days to rest and experience things like hot water, soft beds and clothes that were made of things besides fresh animal flesh, they were soon flown off…-
[20:24] <AdEvaGM> [To Switzerland, to a familiar alpine resort.-
[20:25] <AdEvaGM> [It had been Rei's idea. Hold Thunderdome in this special, beautiful place- the technology could definitely handle it- and thus allow the pilots to soak in luxury when they weren't pretending to wage war with 21 WMDs.-
[20:28] <AdEvaGM> [… They were barely on the ground for an hour, however, before they were ushered into a dimly-lit boardroom with the other pilots, the ODs, and the holographic projections of NERV's Commanders.-
[20:29] <AdEvaGM> [Marianne explained what happened on Skald Island- the Angel, codenamed Uriel, had appeared- why it was drawn there is unknown- where it skirmished with Boston's squadron before teleporting away. It was… Gone. They couldn't find it, not on any Interception Net, not with any cameras…-
[20:30] <AdEvaGM> [Not that it was easy to see anything on the Interception Net these days. The MAGI was being taught to differentiate between Personal Fields and full Angelic fields, simply because the Children of Adam and their constant appearances.-
[20:30] <AdEvaGM> ["… And now I'm turning to Pilot Zhang, who has information for us."]
[20:36] * Yanmei rose to the front of the boardroom and cleared her throat, glancing at Marianne before she went ahead. "Everyone is undoubtedly anticipating that the Angels we face from this point forward are going to dwarf previous enemies in terms of strength. However, there are additional factors that make them even more dangerous beyond that?"-
[20:41] <Yanmei> "There is going to be more coordination on their part. This, of course, wouldn't be possible without them using a complex system of long-distance communication. This is what our files call the "Chantry of Light". It's something that has been used on a smaller scale between parent Angels and their spawn. The Twelfth Angel was definitely using it, and we suspect that the latest one, the Twenty-first, was using it too."-
[20:45] <Yanmei> "We anticipate it being used in a similar fashion from this point forward, with an incredibly strong Angel issuing commands to the remaining weaker ones. The name of this leader in command? Is Metatron, according to the MAGI's files. We don't know much about her, except that she's extremely powerful and that she's just gone active and that finding her location has been a problem. Questions so far?"
[20:47] <Sept> Sera raised his head. "You have some theories on how to combat this, of course?" he asked.
[20:48] * Aline seemed rather curious for some reason, but bit back at least one thing. She was about to speak, but… "I was going to ask about means to intercept the communications, but let's let Sera's question be addressed first."
[20:51] <Yanmei> "Interestingly? Your questions overlap. The best plan right now -is- to intercept the Chantry. Many of the pilots should have the ability to tap into it under the right circumstances. A few of you have already probably experienced it? The problem we're running into boils down to interpretation. It's great to intercept messages in war, but that's a useless ability if you can't crack the code they're written in."
[20:56] <Sept> "How would that work? It'll be difficult to record or analyse any of it objectively."
[20:56] * Aline then suddenly smiled, thinking of something. "…on that subject… I imagine science division would love to be able to do the following if they aren't already capable, but are there any plans for a method to /record/ the Chantry, once we intercept it? If it's down to individual pilots, then the most we can do is remember passages or decode it live, but if something like an Evangelion
[20:56] * Aline were to receive it… it might be able to have the right hardware to record AT impressions like that." A chuckle. "We keep asking overlapping questions."
[20:57] * Yanmei glanced to Marianne curiously at that.
[20:59] <AdEvaGM> ["From what I've asked of Tech, they say that if the Chantry is AT Field based, then there's a good chance they can record the pattern- even if they can't decipher it without an Evangelion or a pilot." Said Marianne. "However, for now we simply don't have enough information to make accurate judgements. Which is why…?" She turned to Yanmei.]
[21:00] <Yanmei> "…we're planning to do something we've never done before. To capture an Angel alive."
[21:04] <Aline> "…To keep an Angel, especially one greater than those we faced at the beginning of the war, restrained… would be beyond impressive. I assume we have the technology now? I… /hope/ we do?"
[21:04] * Sept frowned dubiously, but stayed quiet.
[21:05] <AdEvaGM> ["We reduce it down to its core and keep it like that." Said Ikari flatly.]
[21:06] * Aline furrowed her brow. "That should've been obvious to me. Sorry."
[21:07] <Sept> "If the point is to keep the Chantry active for study, that would mean it'd constantly be broadcasting its location to its spawn and the other Angels."
[21:07] <AdEvaGM> ["Yes." Said Ikari. "Which is why it won't be kept in Paris."]
[21:08] * Aline nodded. "We have a number of secure locations as-is, thankfully."
[21:10] <Yanmei> "This does make our jobs more complicated, and certainly more dangerous, as the next battle will stress disabling the enemy insead of safely killing it." Yanmei frowned. "Still, we're asking for everyone's cooperation."
[21:13] <Sept> "I see." Sera sighed. "The rewards could be well worth the risk. Let's give it a shot."
[21:14] <Aline> "Right, given that we'd be able to intercept the others beforehand. And possibly learn a lot of intel about them…"
[21:15] <AdEvaGM> ["Eh, if we can't find this stupid Angel, how are we going to capture it?" Asked Asuka irritably.-
[21:16] <AdEvaGM> ["Eventually it will come to us, or eventually we will find it. The hard way if we must." Said Ikari.]
[21:18] * Yanmei nodded. "Angels have hardly shied away from us in the past? It's only a matter of time before it launches another surprise attack somewhere."
[21:18] <AdEvaGM> ["Right." Marianne stood up. "I think that concludes our meeting. Dismissed."]
