Investigation At The Oblationist Temple

<Mina‘Haplo> [ It was early in the morning when Maia had departed from Central Station on a long-distance train headed for the small, distant city of Redspring. The train was quiet and stately, as the long-distance ones tend to be; the station itself had been foggy and packed with people, most of them heading throughout Paxia, whilst others would share Maia’s journey.-
<Mina‘Haplo> [The trip was long, about a days’ length all told, and as Maia left Paxia, the countryside transformed, as buildings diminished in number until only a few dotted the green landscape of Agnesia; before long it was only forests, gentle hills and blue skies, a hint of beautiful land in between cities.-
<Mina‘Haplo> [By the time Maia arrived in Redspring, night had fallen, and the red moon glimmered in the cloudless sky. The station was well-maintained, and had a fair few men on hand specifically for people travelling the long distance from Paxia. ]
*Maia tiredly stepped off the train, once the doors opened and it was safe to exit and all. She had packed light for the trip, so she didn’t have too much to carry, luckily. Just the expected amount of clothes needed, her identification, and of course her notes on the case thus far.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Maia, being the resourceful little angel she was, had sent a telegraph ahead to the Temple. Correspondingly, they’d sent someone along to help her- Lucius d'Armand, one of Maia's young school friends who had recently achieved the position of Oblationist as well. He stood on the station, keeping an eye out.-
<Mina‘Haplo> [He was a moderately tall man, about an inch above Maia, maybe, with dangerously pale skin and long brown hair. He wore a pair of glasses, and had bundled up *hard*- a thick bulky coat, gloves, scarves, the whole kit and caboodle. ]
*Maia wouldn’t take long to spot him among the crowd, waving to him energetically!
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius turned as Maia waved, and approached, giving her a frail yet cheerful smile. "Maia! It’s been awhile- I was wondering when you'd be back. How was the journey?" ]
*Maia answers the question with a slightly exaggerated, drawn out yawn, stretching.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "It *is*a long one. Here, I’ll carry this for you." Said Lucius, taking Maia's suitcase… Needing both hands, and obviously struggling with it, but determined not to show it. "I-I've got an autocar waiting. Let's go."]
*Maia gives him a concerned look, one of those are-you-sure-you-can-handle-that expressions, but there's no point in forcing the issue (nor is she really able to do it easily). Of course, she could try the sign language approach, but it wasn't really necessary. So she just went along, helping him with the load as needed.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius led Maia back to the autocar, which, well, seemed personally-owned by Lucius! It was shiny and black, and he quietly (if strugglingly) put the luggage in the trunk of the autocar, before opening the door for Maia to get in. Once she was inside, he’d finally take the wheel.-
<Mina‘Haplo> ["So, how long are you in town for, Maia?"]
*Maia goes with just the signing. <Three days,> she signs, leaning back and relaxing in the autocar.
<Mina`Haplo> ["Three days, huh. Just work? Or are you planning on taking a bit of time off?"]
*Maia shakes her head sadly. <It’s work. I'm trying to trace a rogue,> she signed with a sigh.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["A rogue, huh…" Lucius nodded, then… Started coughing, rather painfully, as he slowly turned a corner. He wiped a handkerchief across his forehead tiredly. "Well, I’m in town. I could give you a hand if you want." ]
*Maia frowned, but she knew Lucius wasn't the type to accept 'no' for an answer when he was making an offer like that, no matter what his condition might be. She nodded, as such. <I could use an interpreter for once,> she signed, breaking into a laugh.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Sounds good." Said Lucius, giving her a gentle smile. "So where are you staying?"]
*Maia frowned. <I hadn’t made arrangements yet,> she signed, letting her eyes droop a little bit.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Well, it’s pretty late, Maia. If you like, I could-" Lucius coughed again- "I could set you up in my place. I have a guest room you could use." ]
*Maia smiled and nodded to that; that alone should get the point across.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Okay, good." Another turn, and… Time passed, and before long, he’d pulled up outside a cosy-looking little house, about 15 minutes from the temple itself. "Here we are, then." He said, hopping out and extracting Maia's suitcase with difficulty. He painfully carried it to the front door, where he spent a minute fumbling with his keys, before finally managing to get the door open. "T-there you go." ]
*Maia helps him with the suitcase this time too, and this time, did in fact say - well, sign - something. <You really shouldn't push yourself so hard.>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["I’m *fine*, Maia. Really." Said Lucius, giving her a weak smile. "I can spare myself for an old friend every so often. Anyway." He entered, and proceeded to set Maia up in the guest room- it was tidy and cozy, with a comfortable bed and desk, and window. "If you have any hassles, call me. As for me, I'm going to have a cup of cocoa before hitting the hay."]
*Maia slumps into the chair at the desk, intent on reviewing the notes she had brought with her on the rogue Oblationist. She had the scrap of cloth with her, too. On the one hand, she didn't have much to go on: the scrap of cloth, the knowledge it was a woman, and the knowledge whoever it was had sacrificed her sight. On the other hand, the order was probably small enough that just—
<Maia> — that information alone could probably narrow it down to, at worst, a number of people she could count on one hand.
*Maia frowned. If she happened to meet this person, the thought struck her, she would be completely unable to communicate with them. How inconvenient that would be, particularly for redemption efforts…
<Mina‘Haplo> [ And so Maia would research and ponder over these issues all night, and eventually, sleep- Marakanas would not visit her tonight. And so the next day came! ]
<Maia> Thank goodness for that! Actually getting a restful night’s sleep that night, Maia would be up bright and early for the day's visit to the temple grounds…
<Mina‘Haplo> [ … And Lucius had apparently fallen asleep on his dining table, a mug of half-finished cocoa in hand. ]
*Maia frowned, and gently nudged him by the shoulder worriedly, giving him a definite I-told-you-so look.
<Mina`Haplo> [ "Huh-whha…" Lucius started awake, and looked up at Maia tiredly. He didn’t look very rested. "M-must've passed out. I guess you're ready to- don't give me that look, Mai- ready to go?"]
*Maia is definitely giving him that look alright.
*Maia pats him on the shoulder and nods. <Maybe I should drive,> she signs.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "… Yeah, okay, fair enough. You drive, I’ll ride in the back." He said, giving her the keys. ]
*Maia smiled, and headed out to the car with Lucius. No way she was letting him walk alone.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius followed along, opening the door for Maia… Before getting into the passenger’s seat and falling asleep. ]
*Maia decides not to bother him for now, simply taking a quiet drive to the temple grounds~
<Mina‘Haplo> [ It was a relatively short drive to the temple grounds, all things considered. The Basilica of St. Ophelia loomed before Maia, with about 60 feet of well-kept grass between the entrance and the car. ]
*Maia parks, hopefully it isn’t parallel parking, because ugh. Again, she gently nudged Lucius to get his attention.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius jerks awake, again, shaking his head sleepily. "S-sorry, Maia." he mumbled guiltily, before getting out of the car and opening the door for her. "So, where to first?" ]
*Maia rubs her chin. <The records room, of course.>
<Mina`Haplo> [ "A-alright." He coughed a little, rubbing his hands together briskly. Maia knew where to go, but he led her nevertheless, leading her through the halls of the temple towards the records room. Every so often a familiar face could be seen, and would wave or shout a greeting, but eventually Maia would find herself with Lucius in the records and histories room. ]
*Maia pulls out a chair for Lucius. <We’re looking for female Oblationists who sacrificed their eyesight,> she signs. <Starting with the most recent.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Ah, alright." Lucius departed for a moment, before returning with a stack of papers. He placed them down in front of Maia, and took the top half for himself. "This is a list of all the Oblationists who achieved the title in the last 30 years, along with their sacrifice and the name of their demon… I’ll start from the newest, and you start from the oldest, okay?" ]
*Maia nods to him, and starts to go over the list carefully!
<Mina‘Haplo> [It was long, hard work, and the hours started to whittle away as they worked. Maia would find all sorts of interesting things- her father’s entry, for example. The first blind Oblationist in the record, a Meredith Paxter, died 29 years ago… -
<Mina‘Haplo> [ By the end of the work, the two of them had come up with 4 total living blind Oblationists. One of them was present and accounted for. The other three, not so much- the oldest, a 28-year-old Oblationist named Sue Miller, had gone missing 6 years ago. The next one, an Andromeda Hayward, had also disappeared, last reported seen in southern Ringdor 3 years ago.-
<Mina`Haplo> [And the last, a Sophie Garland, had gone missing two years ago…]
*Maia writes down each of the names in her notes, along with any pertinent details she can dig up on the three specifically…
<Mina`Haplo> [ Sue Miller, 28 years old, human, blind, with a husband and an 8 year old daughter, using the demon Patrocletia. Andromeda Hayward, 26 years old, mother, father, 3 brothers, half-Elf, using the demon Amaneusis. And Sophie Garland, 24 years old, no family or husband, using the demon Melchion. ]
*Maia frowns a bit. She had her hunches, for sure..
<Mina`Haplo> [ "What did the rogue do, Maia, exactly? She might’ve had a unique style or demon that influenced her ways…"]
*Maia does her best, using the ever-present slate and chalk, to relate a description of the altar she'd found in the Olon house while she was with Xiri, Tyra and Diana. Probably by just sketching it.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Hmm… Black altar, necromancy… Okay." Lucius nodded. "Here’s what we do. You go look up the Grimoire of Demons, and I'll go grab us some lunch, because I'm *really*hungry. Okay?" ]
*Maia nods to him, giving him a thumbs up. And then, she'd be off to the Grimoire!
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius walks off to grab lunch. Meanwhile, Maia heads over to look at the Grimoire! Or Grimoires, really- there were a set of ten books or so detailing all the demons the Oblationists knew about. What entry would she look at first? ]
*Maia first looked up all the info she could find on Melchion…
<Mina`Haplo> [ Melchion, the Loveless Marshal, a menacing and powerful demon… Probably on a greater magnitude than Marakanas. Melchion was a commander, a general, a being of immense power who could command demons, vengeful spirits and the dead at will. He was a master tactician, able to identify weaknesses in his foe and change himself to exploit them… ]
*Maia takes note of this information. The demon may not fit the profile so well, but the wielder would be the most suspicious one. She’ll check Patrocletia next.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Patrocletia, the Tempestuous Scarlet Rose, a seducer and a schemer who could win a man’s heart with a glance and thus gain complete control over them, or so it was said. She was a little weaker, it seemed, than Marakanas…]
*Maia shakes her head. No, that didn't seem to fit either… how about the last one, Amaneusis?
<Mina‘Haplo> [Amaneusis, the Damnation Cloaked in False Light… He seemed to possess the ability to appear good and honest despite his evil actions, and had control over insects, animals, and lightning storms. ]
*Maia frowns. No, she must have been right with her first guess… But she was missing one crucial piece of information, and that would be Miss Garland’s last known whereabouts.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ At this point, Lucius returned, bearing a sandwich for himself and a bowl of classic beef stew for Maia. "Maia…?" ]
*Maia raises an eyebrow, sees the food, and smiles widely.
<Mina`Haplo> [ Lucius put the bowl on the desk for her, giving her a bit of a bashful smile. "I remember you liked this, so…" He coughed, nodding to the books. "How’s it going?" ]
*Maia shows the assembled notes to Lucius, with the stuff on Melchion on top. She taps that page, and then signs, <This one, I imagine.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius peered at it… "… Hmmmmm. It’s a bit of a strange fit, but 'Command demons, vengeful spirits and the dead' sounds certainly like the sort of thing he'd influence his bearer to do if she went rogue… Any other reasons why you chose this one?" ]
<Maia> And with that, she pulls up the information on Sophie. <No family or friends noted,> she signs slowly, sighing.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Ah…" Lucius tilted his head. "So you think she was… Well." He glanced at Melchion’s title. "Loveless? And that's what made her go rogue?" ]
*Maia nods slowly.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Well, it fits… Sophie Garland… I wonder if there’s a more in-depth record of her actions?" ]
*Maia contemplated this. Probably, there could be one somewhere, couldn't there?
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius peered around… "I think, and don’t quote me on this? But I think there's some sort of 'monitor log' for people who've gone missing, a sort of concise collection of facts and the like for people to use to track them down. It should be around somewhere…" ]
*Maia rubs her chin, at this. She was going to have to go find this log, after finishing the delicious stew she'd been brought for lunch.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius doggedly decides to leave Maia to her meal and go off to find the records for his beloved friend, leaving her to her stew…]
*Maia frowns crossly, once he’s gone.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucian returned shortly after, bearing a small binder with a scrap of notes in it. "It isn’t much, but… I found this for you." he said eagerly, sitting down and putting the binder on the table. "All I could find on Sophie Garland's disappearance." ]
*Maia collects the binder from Lucius with a frown, and opens it to see what's inside! But not without signing a <Thank you> to Lucius first, of course.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "No problem." Said Lucius with a slight blush. But the contents… There wasn’t much. What was noted that she apparently got on a train bound for Paxia, and was never seen again or reported to the Temple again. Her luggage was found discarded halfway between the station and Paxia's outskirts- it seemed half-emptied and deliberately abandoned. ]
*Maia frowns deeper at this. How troubling… And, of course, irritatingly, Marakanas was dangling around the answer in front of her face, but only for a price she was adamantly unwilling to consider. Tap, tap, tap, her fingers drum on the table.
*Maia raises an eyebrow, signing once more to Lucius. <What was left in the luggage?> As she does this, she's moving back to the Grimoires, looking up a fourth demon who has no connection to this case. Or maybe he does.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Clothes, most of them very new, it seemed- some ash in the luggage as well…" Meanwhile, back at the grimoires! Who is she looking up? ]
<Maia> No one, actually, when he says that. She looks back directly at him, alert like a hawk. <Ash? What kind of ash?> she signs rapidly.
<Mina`Haplo> [ "It wasn’t catalogued." ]
*Maia frowns sharply. If she could talk, she'd probably have cursed. Her attention shifts back to the Grimoire, where she proceeds to look up Marakanas.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Marakanas… She finds the entry easily enough. Marakanas, the Bloody-Handed Whisper of Murder. A malevolent demon that uses tricks and subterfuge and delights in assassination and turning brother against brother, he is known for his patience and his ability to plan his actions over a long period of time… Apparently, there is a record of his history as well, including how he came to be. Continue? ]
*Maia does in fact continue! She’s interested to see how this turns out…
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Marakanas… Surprisingly, started life as a human. Marakanas Imsolior, a prince of the kingdom of Oraste, that once bordered modern Clenceria. He was known as a gentle and pious individual, but the invasion of his nation by the growing Arcolian Empire saw him take to the field as a general. He fought long and hard against the invaders, and proved to be a stubborn foe- but was merely delaying the inevitable.-
<Mina`Haplo> [The turning point in his story came after an assassination attempt orchestrated by the cunning Cosimo de Argo. The attempt failed, but was devastating enough to wound Marakanas and kill his wife and young son. Driven to madness with grief and on the brink of death, he made a forbidden pact with a demon in desperation that healed him, and also gave him the tools necessary to claim victory.-
<Mina`Haplo> [Marakanas delighted in deploying the same strategies as Cosimo, and eventually was able to claim the man’s life in the night. Fuelled by demonic power, Marakanas drove the Arcolians out of Oraste… Which meant he would have to pay his due. He died, his spirit entering the influence of demonkind, and with his death the kingdom of Oraste fell into chaos: an empty victory.-
<Mina‘Haplo> [Such was his bitterness and force of will, however, that he did not become a thrall of his master demon, but rather a fully fledged demon himself, determined to sow the seeds of chaos using those strategies he had deployed in life. ]
*Maia chuckles slightly. Somehow… she was not surprised by this information, which she’d file away for later battles of wit. <You'd think they'd catalogue something important and unusual like ash in luggage,> she signed, the sharpness of her gestures suggesting anger.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["You’d think so." Replied Lucius, coughing a little. "I mean, hm… What could she have possibly burned on the train?"
<Mina‘Haplo> ]
*Maia scratches her head. That was a good question, wouldn’t burning things on a train customarily get you detained?
<Mina‘Haplo> ["She’d have to be private about it. Whatever it was, she'd probably have had to burn it in her cabin as stealthily as possible… I mean, if she burned it before, why take it on at all? It's weird…" ]
*Maia frowns. <The incident I'm investigating involves a ritual which requires a large amount of aspen ash,> she signs. <But without knowing the type, it's only another vague link.> Siiiiiiiiiigh.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Aspen ash?" Headtilt. "You think she might’ve summoned some sort of undead creature onto the train?" ]
*Maia shrugs helplessly. This is best explained by simply showing him her notes on Strigoi, including the copied pages (which she helpfully provides her spectacles for Lucius to read).
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius proceeds to take his actual glasses off and replace them with Maia’s. he squints a little painfully as he adjusts, then reads… "Hmmm." He taps his chin. "A Strigoi… I'm curious. She couldn't have summoned it on the train, especially since this is recent, right? She'd be found out. And if she was preparing it for the future, why throw it out…?"]
*Maia nodded at the mention of it being recent. <A few nights ago.> Hesitation. <Have there been any sightings reported of her? Whether proven or not.>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Rrrrh, not really. There’ve been a few, well, shaky sightings of a supposed blind witch in Paxia, every so often, that was assumed to be her… But nothing ever showed up."]
*Maia taps her foot on the floor rhythmically. <It would fit what I've found.>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["I guess." Lucius returned to the details… "The luggage… Mmmh, there’s something odd about this, but I can't put my finger on what…" ]
*Maia takes a look at the details herself, nodding in agreement. What could it be…
<Mina‘Haplo> [ To refresh: ash, that had scattered and wasn’t catalogued, and very new clothes, perhaps unworn… They seemed rather fashionable.]
<Maia> <The clothes are odd,> she signs, as she produces the scrap of sleeve that she had been given by the spirit at Olon's house, staring at it with a troubled expression.
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Oh?"]
*Maia holds out the scrap for Lucius with a shrug.
<Mina`Haplo> [ Lucius lifts up the scrap, turns it over… "This is old, like… From when she was with us…" He tapped his chin. "Y’know, why don't you use this?" ]
*Maia raised an eyebrow inquisitively as she looked on at Lucius. <Use?>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Yeah. I mean, we don’t have the facilities here, but…" He stroked his chin. "It could take a bit of back-and-forthing, but you could use this as a scrying focus if you, well, asked the government scryers in the city…"]
*Maia gets a look of realization! She hadn't thought of that, and yet it was such a simple step. Was it tiredness, or was she losing her touch? She decided to file it under the first category, nodding slowly as she pocketed the scrap of cloth again.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "They might be a bit iffy about it, but… I figure they won’t really refuse two Oblationists…"]
*Maia nods slowly, looking at Lucius with concern again. <Are you sure you should be travelling?>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["I’m an Oblationist, Maia. And I'm quite capable of travelling for your sake." ]
<Maia> Well, she knew she wasn't going to deter him with that kind of attitude. So, instead, she just gently patted him on the back. <I think we're done here for now,> she signs slowly. She didn't seem too sure of it, but she couldn't think of anything else that could be gleaned from the materials at hand here…
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Yeah, okay." Said Lucius, standing up. "Y’know, it's strange. They had a case of her clothes. Why didn't they scry her?" ]
*Maia suddenly stops in her tracks. Was it a sudden realization? … <Were the clothes actually hers?>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["I…" Lucius checked the notes. "They’re "women's clothes, upper fashionable, never worn, not scryable"… We could probably go have a look at them since they're catalogued. What're you thinking?" ]
*Maia taps an index finger to her temple, thoughtfully, before signing back, <I think it's odd they were never worn. We should probably check them out before coming to any false conclusions though.>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Okay. Follow me!" Says Lucius, leading Maia into a room… A series of alcoves lined one wall, with a table sitting in the middle. Lucius pulled a box out of an alcove, setting them in front of Maia… Filled with clothes. "Here we are." ]
*Maia follows along with Lucius, and when the box is set before her, she takes to carefully removing the articles of clothing from it, looking them over slowly. There were so many unanswered questions as of yet.
<Mina`Haplo> [ They were, for the most part, quite elegant and fashionable, the sort of thing a woman of distinction would buy… They were soft and smooth, and far out of an Oblationist’s means to buy. Feel free to search for specific details. ]
*Maia would certainly sniff them for the possibility of picking up on the ash. Either way, the look on her face was one of clear suspicion and skepticism. <These cannot possibly have been hers unless they were a gift.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "A gift? She must’ve had a wealthy admirer then." Said Lucius, casting his eyes over at them. Several of the garments do indeed have ash stains on them… In quantifiable amounts. ]
*Maia points the stains out to Lucius. <Or theft. Or there's something much deeper at work.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Theft… Why would she steal good clothes? Was she trying to catch someone’s eye?" He rubbed the sleeve of one of the clothes sadly… "… This is tailor-made." ]
*Maia peers. <And the ash is from burning clothes similar to these. She was trying to erase herself, render herself untrackable. It doesn't explain how she got these, but the rest is making a lot more sense.> She looked at Lucius with a concerned frown. <I think we should make for the city to get that scrying done as soon as possible.>
<Mina‘Haplo> ["Yeah… Sounds good. Should I put these back, then?]
*Maia nods, assisting in getting the clothes put back away. <Perhaps our biggest difficulty is that we know she doesn’t want to be found.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius also helps! "She’s been underground for two years, and we've had no trace of her. She's either very good or we've gotten bad at our jobs." Said Lucius, finishing and starting off towards the exit. ]
*Maia chuckles at that, not responding otherwise as she followed him out…
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Well, I guess since you’re here for one more night, we should think about food. What do you think? Do you trust me to cook? Otherwise, we could go out somewhere instead." ]
*Maia frowns; she seemed a bit worried. <I was thinking we should get moving tonight, actually.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Ah… You want to be back as soon as possible, huh?" Lucius turns. "Well, I’m happy to do so, but I don't want you working yourself too hard, either…" ]
*Maia attempts to laugh the concern off, signing, <I figured my allies back in the city may not want to wait on a scrying.> No, she was probably more worried about the person trying to erase themselves, but it was a good excuse.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Fair enough." Lucius yawns tiredly, stifling it a little as they return to his car. He lets Maia in first, then commandeers the wheel, driving them back to his house, where he quickly packs a bit of luggage - struggling to help Maia with her own- and driving them to the station. ]
*Maia spends most of this auto trip staring out the window contemplatively, quite unusually for her (but it was a clear hallmark of her being nervous about something).
<Mina`Haplo> [ "Everything okay, Maia? You seemed quiet." Said Lucius… Who paused, and redacted his words. "I mean… Well, uh, y’know…" He said, as he wheeled his luggage onto a trolley.
<Mina‘Haplo> ]
<Maia> Lucius’ ill-thought remark certainly got Maia's attention, but not at all in the expected fashion. Rather, it snapped her out of the seeming funk as she laughed audibly, nodding to him emphatically. <I'm a little worried about our missing persons is all.>
<Mina‘Haplo> [ Lucius seemed a little relieved at Maia’s reaction, smiling a little… "You're worried she might be beyond saving, perhaps?" He asked, flicking his gaze towards the rail as the train approached. ]
*Maia frowns. <Are there truly people beyond saving?> she signed back, her expression slightly disapproving.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Only people beyond *our ability*to save." Said Lucius. "No one is beyond saving, rather."]
<Maia> That pacified her, for sure, as she nodded. <You, as well as my allies, will have to be my mouthpiece if we meet her. I won’t be able to communicate with one like her.> Perhaps THAT was what was disturbing her, the woman truly was beyond Maia's ability.
<Mina‘Haplo> [ "Certainly." Said Lucius, nodding… The train pulled up, its doors opening- a conductor was blowing a whistle, and Lucius trundled his trolley forward, getting it through the door and offering a hand to Maia. "You can count on me here." ]
*Maia smiles, and takes Lucius’ hand to climb aboard. Hopefully the train ride would be uneventful!
<Mina`Haplo> [ Lucius promptly passes out about 15 minutes in and sleeps the entire way. ]
