Sera S Anguish

[20:17] * Sept was lying down on his bed in the spacious, neat room provided for him, holding Vassa up above his head. "I'm not the one to blame for this, am I?"
[20:21] <@Minaplo> [Vassa stared.-
[20:22] <@Minaplo> [Wasn't it odd, Sera? The eyes of the little bear were glassy. He could see his own worried, exhausted reflection in them. They were just glass, but…-
[20:22] <@Minaplo> [They stared. They were brownish. No, not brownish. They were the exact same colour as Natasha's eyes.-
[20:23] <@Minaplo> [It was hard to tell what they thought as they stared at him from high above. Staring into his own.-
[20:23] <@Minaplo> ["You're the one asking the question. Does that mean you feel you're to blame?" The eyes asked.]
[20:28] <Sept> "I do and I don't. Earlier I would've lamented that they didn't listen to me again. Said that I was the one with the plan. Now, at least, I can't be the one making the decisions. I know there's a high chance I would've died if I'd pushed further. But still…"
[20:30] <@Minaplo> ["Well, you're alive, aren't you? That means you can try to make it better!"]
[20:32] <Sept> "Yeah…"-
[20:33] <Sept> ["Even better," Joshua said. "You can finally help Mother make it better."]
[20:40] <@Minaplo> ["Joshua." Came a voice from the doorway.]
[20:43] * Sept hesitated for a moment, pulling Vassa in closer to his chest and sitting up. "Yes..?"
[20:46] <@Minaplo> [Mary Caine stood in the doorway. The sight of her brought joy and terror to Sera's breast.-
[20:46] <@Minaplo> ["Why do you have a stuffed toy in your hands?"]
[20:51] <Sept> "I… I, recovery measures, Mother. I almost slipped away in the fight, and, and, I -need-… It helps me to remember."
[20:52] <@Minaplo> [Caine stared at him for a few long seconds- then she smiled. "I understand. I had a toy myself when I was your age. Even though my own father disapproved of it."]
[20:58] <Sept> "I… see. It was a gift from a friend, from Nat- from a NeoSpartan." He looked at the bear for a moment, conflicted, as if he'd just remembered this. "She wasn't strong enough."
[20:58] <@Minaplo> ["Few are."]
[20:59] * Sept turned back towards Mary, smiling. "Yes. That makes our obligations that much more important. Did you need something from me..?"
[21:00] <@Minaplo> ["We're going to have a walk with Weiss-Xylander."]
[21:01] <@Minaplo> <Talk*>
[21:03] <Sept> "I see." He got up and, with another long look at Vassa, set him down on a nightstand. "May I ask something?"
[21:04] <@Minaplo> ["You may."]
[21:04] <Sept> "I heard most of what happened afterwards in the battle, but… what happened to Father?"
[21:08] <@Minaplo> ["Are you referring to Jeremiah?"]
[21:09] <Sept> "Yes. What happened to him? And… how much of this was his wish, Mary?"
[21:13] <@Minaplo> [Mary's face became cold and angry. "Blanc launched him into a Dirac Sea. From what our sensors picked up, he reappeared within the sun."-
[21:14] <@Minaplo> ["His transmitter failed quickly. He was almost certainly destroyed. I'll know in a few weeks for certain."]
[21:18] <Sept> "I-isn't it time for him to rest already, though, Mary..?"
[21:22] <@Minaplo> ["No." Said Caine curtly. "He prefers to live, and so he shall."]
[21:25] <Sept> "Of course, yes," he said, bowing his head a bit. "That's… all I had to ask."
[21:26] <@Minaplo> [She nodded, then turned and left, expecting him to follow.]
[21:26] <Sept> So he did, promptly and at a familial distance.
