Special Operations Service Rules

Special Operations Service

When 'Rebel NERV' went rogue, it took with it many resources, including NERV's most elite special forces, the Special Operations Service (SOS). Lead by Raphael Guillory, this special force consists of between three to six squads (its true strength is never the same as it is on official papers), along with extra equipment and access to advanced vehicles and agents.

SOS's units are organised as per Hordes, with a single Lieutenant attached to each Horde as a Leader.

Deploying Units

1: Select Units

Whenever SOS is chosen to deploy on a mission, it will be allowed to deploy a number of its elite units to take on the mission, usually with a maximum restriction of two or three (This does not count Entourages). Raphael's own squad of elite characters may also be deployed as he wishes.

2: Configure Units

Each Unit's Horde requires configuration before it is deployed. Each Horde has access to various weapons, which naturally changes how it performs in combat. Each Horde also has access to multiple Specialists who influence its ability and help to place the Horde into a specialised role.

Similarly, the characters being deployed must be configured and equipped. Each character possesses 6 RP with which to spend on any gear they may take from the P-Scale Personal Equipment list.

Furthermore, each Unit contains a Lieutenant as well, who may be equipped as a normal character.

3: Spend Favour Points

Every mission comes with 4 Favour Points. Favour Points may be spent at a rate of 1:1 to grant all characters extra RP (that is, a single FP expenditure increases everyone's RP to 7), but they may also be spent to gain beneficial circumstances, useful resources or to requisition a Special Character.

4: Execute Mission

After this is done, SOS is deployed and the mission carried out.

5: Post-Mission Rewards and Consequences

Once a mission has been completed, then the aftermath is determined. Missions can result in upgrades or benefits being opened up to the participant units or Lieutenants, or more broadly in rewards being granted to SOS at large.

Conversely, there may be negative consequences. An excessively damaged or destroyed Unit or Lieutenant may render that unit unusable for a short period of time, whilst poor play or planning could lead to penalties such as a temporary increase in RP costs for equipment.
