Kess Talks To The Final Guardian 12th Of June

[12:45] <Minaplo> [The vermin began withdrawing almost immediately after Kess made her pact.-
[12:48] <Minaplo> [The teeming horde turned and began the journey back, and it was here that Kess would see the ingenuity of the system: littered throughout the dyson sphere were little queen-like nodes, lacking will but able to reproduce and absorb vermin. These nodes were connected into the electrical systems- thus the vermin would plunge into a node, be dissolved, and then the materials- primarily the raw energy- transmitted to another node. Even at the speed of light, though, the journey sometimes tooks days, even weeks.-
[12:52] <Minaplo> [And once an area had been cleared of vermin, the nodes, too, would shrink into the electrical system. Bit by bit, the dyson sphere was being reclaimed.-
[12:53] <Minaplo> [So when Kess returned to the Final Guardian, she would find the Guardian in the observation room, quietly humming with energy.-
[12:53] <Minaplo> [As Kess entered, the Guardian looked over at her. "You did it. Are you alright?"]
[12:55] * Kess slowly nodded to her, making a bow. "…I will recover. I didn't take that many wounds, but the stress was quite real, and negotiating was done in a room where I was at risk of radiation cooking." Pulled from the brink But a pause. "You seem well, too."
[13:11] <Minaplo> ["I was expending much energy on containment. Now I do not have to." Said the Guardian. "And I am receiving more energy in general. I am being unburdened. I am grateful."]
[13:13] * Kess made a soft, pleased chirp. "That's good, on many levels, since it also protects us from the drain. Such a strange circumstance… and there is much I could ask or say to you, of the past, or of the present… But I appreciate having done well by you."
[13:15] <Minaplo> [The Guardian hummed. It was comforting, like the familiar hum of machinery to a person who grew up around it. "I feel willing to answer some of your questions."]
[13:17] <Kess> "And I implied too, if you had any questions, or topics. Much has changed…" She said distantly, with a sign of concerning worlds split by eons implying context. "I am curious, of just… what you and your kind's duties are, this long after being posted."
[13:21] <Minaplo> ["This sphere was built for energy generation." Said the Guardian. "We collect solar energy, then take that huge store and convert it with S2 energy into an almost limitless supply of power."-
[13:23] <Minaplo> ["The purpose for this energy is to power other installations in this sector of space. For example, the Watchers that guard the tomb worlds of the Harvester Empire. We also use the energy to perform maintenance on the Celestial Way in our sector. Optimally, we redirect the Way so that others cannot pass us. We are not supposed to interact with others, merely observe… But it was an emergency."]
[13:28] * Kess made a soft nod. "We have encountered some of the tomb Watchers. …And there seem to be some who would wish to take the Harvester technology, rather than heed the apparent message that no rewards were left." She said, firmly. Aware of burdens of ancient things "Which is troubling. The Twiceborn, the people my own have allied with, know enough to know that Harvesters could do terrible things, even without being informed
[13:28] * Kess by Watchers. I don't know how it'll help your work, but I could explain quickly some of what is going on in this sector. …The Twiceborn seem to be quite fascinating, possibly even to your kind."
[13:31] <Minaplo> ["Please do."]
[13:38] <Kess> "At present, this sector is mostly isolated from the larger context of galactic civilization." She began… "The Twiceborn are the primary resident thereof. Originally, a Seed that would have made Great Ones landed on their world, but at the same time, a grave error caused one that would make Orchids to do so, too. The blood of the conflict birthed humanity, and after evolution, a great war happened as the two previously-dormant
[13:38] <Kess> seeds were awoken. I believe the end was that humanity became the Twiceborn through the 'evangelion', a strange existence that combined both seeds' gifts. …Both seeds were revitalized and sent to other worlds. …In this sense, they are all of the kinds of races at once - born wild of primordial blood, but with the cultivated souls of the ancients, but with gifts from the Great Ones. …i have heard from the elders of my own
[13:38] <Kess> culture that this may be what is needed to establish peace." A great confluence of improbable mystery "What might interest you then, is what it implies for the seeding of the galaxy."
[13:54] <Mianplo> [A deeper hum.-
[13:56] <Mianplo> ["I have long sensed that the great seeding plan has been disrupted." Said the Guardian. "The first four Orchids who were seeded first, of whom you are one, were all gifted great powers. But only three have emerged. The fourth was intended to maintain and expand the Celestial Way- and without them, the Way has become chaotic."]
[14:13] <Kess> "…Then that must be 'Lilith'." Kess said, nodding. "It will still be time before she does. But the accident her error caused, may have other boons…" thoughtful consideration "But, I understand well. It is chaotic, and we all have to come up with our ways to deal with it in the interim. I hope in the future you can keep faithful watch. …If I could know how to repair or rebuild your fellows… But, that is also probably
[14:13] <Kess> forbidden technology at this stage."
[14:25] <Minaplo> ["Yes." Said the Guardian. "I will have to adapt to take over functions…"-
[14:25] <Minaplo> ["And there is one other thing I will do."]
[14:29] * Kess tilted her head and made a quick chirp-note. "Ah?" curiosity with great import
[14:35] <Minaplo> ["It is clear to me that the great plan, being disrupted, can no longer be relied on to bring benefit." Said the Guardian. "The confluence of a Great One seed and an Orchid seed has disrupted it, but in truth the emergence of these wild lifeforms has caused just as much chaos to the plan."-
[14:36] <Minaplo> ["In essence, following the 'correct' actions will not lead to the correct outcome. So I must adapt to actions that bring about that outcome. To this end… The emergence of these 'evangelions' is an accident upon an accident, for it gives a single species power approaching the Ancestors, in time. I am uncomfortable with that, but also realise, like your elders, the potential of that power."-
[14:37] <Minaplo> ["So I will open my sphere." Said the Guardian. "And allow the Twiceborn to come here freely and establish themselves. Others may come too, so long as they observe my peace and requirements."]
[14:42] * Kess jolted a bit, and nodded almost reverently. "That is an impressive honor, and I am glad that you understand the situation. …for now, the Twiceborn are the best hands I have seen for that power to rest in, but protecting it and shepherding it will be a task for all of us, you, me, them. I will make sure to note that." Intensely honored and surprised "…If the correct outcome is as good as it sounds, I will be glad to
[14:42] * Kess see that my own duties coincide with it, Guardian."
[14:55] <Minaplo> ["Yes." Said the Guardian. "Thank you. I am grateful for your support, which you have given from the very start."-
[14:56] <Minaplo> ["Will you continue to support me, as I ask about some other concerns?"]
[15:02] <Kess> "I will, given due time to analyze them." reasoned balance of concerns Kess replied, with the lightest lilt of satisfaction.
[15:16] <Minaplo> ["You said that some were attempting to recover Harvester technology."]
[15:24] * Kess made a low, forlorn coo. "Yes. It seems as though there is ambitions of such among the Overseers." concern of touching a delicate shell
[15:30] <Minaplo> [A note of discord momentarily disrupted the Guardian's hum. "The Harvesters did not have technology as we knew it. Their empire relied wholly on their harvesting abilities."]
[15:34] * Kess …slowly nodded. "I see… So their quest would be rather empty, unless there was some result of harvests left. And even then, it is likely a deeply pale shadow of what they think they can gain." Evil is shortsighted in its foolishness But she folded all four arms. "It would be hard to convey that and be believed, of course, to those with sufficient greed."
[15:49] <Minaplo> ["Yes. And yet the tombs should not be disturbed, regardless."]
[16:05] <Kess> "I can understand that. It would, if nothing else, give bad ideas, let alone disrespect the work done to seal them." Standing atop one's own grave She noted.
[16:10] <Minaplo> ["Yes."-
[16:10] <Minaplo> ["… Are you curious about them?"]
[16:17] * Kess thought, scratching her chin thoughtfully. "About who they were, what merited their sealing, that sort of thing." Knowing some things are not meant for our world
[16:18] <Minaplo> ["There is little I am permitted to share." Said the Guardian.-
[16:20] <Minaplo> ["But they were powerful. They harvested emotions, but emotions in a raw, concentrated state are powerful. They are a non-realistic thing existing in a realistic space; does not their existence at all preclude mastery over reality?"-
[16:21] <Minaplo> ["And so some Harvesters drained millions, even billions, concentrating pure emotion into them- enough to rewrite reality permanently in a few cases."]
[16:27] * Kess stayed pensively silent, only signing Dread and awe. But then she spoke. "That is impressive, but in a way that is very likely to have been terrifying and disgusting." abomination
[16:39] <Minaplo> ["Yes. The base moral repugnance of their actions was reason enough to intervene. But their abilities made it necessary to destroy them as thoroughly as possible."]
[16:44] <Kess> "I can imagine, since it could destabilize the entire galaxy or even universe…" What must be
[16:46] <Minaplo> ["Yes. It is a power that the Ancestors took and kept locked away, and used only once to that scale. It was not inherited by any Seeds."]
[16:51] <Kess> "I didn't think so, no." Affirmation. "The powers were ostensibly chosen to repair a broken galaxy, and bring a more proper society up." A thought of rue after such "…The Overseers are maybe not the best result of the latter…"
[17:17] <Minaplo> ["The plan has deviated."-
