The Call Of Monsieur Madeleine

A strange situation has arisen. We've received special, coded communications by someone purporting to be within the Synfront, willing to help us. They call themselves Monsieur Madeleine.

Specifically, this person claims to be able to gain access to special phrases that can be telepathically delivered into the minds of Phantoms. These phrases can trigger changes in them, forcing them out of their battle-focused mindsets and into sleep-mode, essentially knocking them out. Madeleine, however, is not in a position to deliver all of these, instead only being able to source the codes for one or two pods at once.

Madeleine stresses that his motivation here is to create an 'underground railroad' delivering Phantoms from captivity to freedom- or at least to captivity by an enemy who won't abuse them or force them to fight. Ultimately however Madeleine will only be able to deliver codes for Phantoms that are about to be deployed to combat- Madeleine's ability to smuggle the Phantoms out is limited at best.

The Federation needs to help set things up, however. This comes in two parts. The first: they have to establish clandestine communications in three places: Alexandria, Khartoum and Mogadishu. This requires contacting agents in these cities with special codephrases; the agents will be identifiable by carrying with them iron bowls full of water with crude christian crosses engraved into the exterior. On contacting an agent, the Federation is to set up an electronic 'listening post' somewhere at the agent's behest.

After this, Madeleine will transmit the codephrase. Then, to test it out, the Federation must intercept Pod 34, a 40-strong Pod of Phantoms. The Pod has been assigned to chase down a group of seven Brothers fleeing from Sudan southward toward the Congo. The Brothers are attempting to link up with Rolling Thunder, a famous Brother leader who has been leading his 'brotherhood' westward through the Congo toward the western coast. Over time his Brotherhood has absorbed other Brothers, and is now several hundred Brothers strong, but they are being fiercely pursued by UN forces.

On finding Pod 34, a telepath must send the passphrase against the Phantoms, which will knock them out. The Adept must then be apprehended, but it is recommended the Adept be recommended before using the Passphrase.
