Lore of Beasts

The Lore of Beasts taps into the wind of Ghur, the bestial spirit wind, to channel the animalistic energies that dwell within living things. Devotees of the Lore of Beasts tend to shun the trappings of civilised society, preferring nature to buildings and animals to men. Over time their appearance becomes wild and untamed.

Empire Wizards who study the Lore of Beasts are known as Amber Wizards.

Tier 1

Beast Friend

Whilst this passive is memorised, all animals are predisposed to like you. You can touch and ride such animals without it resisting you, and animals will not attack you even if their mount does. You can also understand 'animal speak', and are thus able to communicate with them. Any animals attacked by you become immune to this effect.

Broken Beast

You break the spirit of a domesticable animal (eg. Horses, dogs, cats, Cold Ones, some birds, not wolves or bears). The animal becomes permanently docile towards Humans, Elves, Halflings, Dwarfs etc, but not Greenskins, Skaven or Chaos monstrosities. The animal may resist with a Willpower test.

The Beast Made Well

Boar's Hide

Your skin becomes tough and rigid. You gain +1 Armour score per Spell Dice to a max of +3 for 3 turns, and the Painless trait. This spell does not work if you are wearing armour and instantly is dispelled if you put any on.

Lesser Beastform

On casting this spell, you shapeshift into the form of a beast. You may choose from the following forms: a cat, a wolf, a warhorse, a bear or an eagle. All of your Ability scores bar Insight, Willpower, Fellowship and Spellcasting become that of the animal. All of your items are shifted to and thus cannot be used. You may still speak, but you cannot cast spells. The spell lasts for an hour, although you can end it voluntarily. If you are knocked down, stunned or incapacitated the spell immediately ends.

The Master's Voice

You command one animal within range to do your bidding unless it makes a successful Willpower test. For the duration of this turn, you decide what actions the animal will take. If the animal is a mount, the rider must either go wherever the animal goes or be thrown off (and you can order the animal to buck the rider off if you wish, although the rider may make an Agility test to resist).

Greater Beastform

You may still speak, but you cannot cast spells. The spell lasts for an hour, although you can end it voluntarily. If you are knocked down, stunned or incapacitated the spell immediately ends.

Repugnant Transformation

On casting this spell on an enemy- who may resist with a Willpower-1 test; you transform them into a horrid, hairy, primeval form of themselves. They lose the capacity for speech and their Insight and Fellowship scores drop by 3. They gain the Animal, Stupidity and Animosity traits, but these are not affected by Leader or similar traits. They lose the Immune to Psychology trait. This spell has no effect on the Undead or Daemons. This spell is permanent, unless this spell is cast on them again (which reverses it) or it is dispelled in an attempt that uses at least 3 Spell Dice.

Arcane Marks

Animal Aura You emit an 'aura' of animalistic qualities, such as a heady animal musk. You no longer need to memorise the 'Beast Friend' and 'The Beast Made Well' spells, but you take a -1 penalty to fellowship tests against nobles, priests, or other highborns who would dislike animal smells or similar traits. Beast Friend, The Beast Made Well, Spellcasting 4 1 XP
Feral You develop a feral appearance, with your hair growing thicker and coarser, your nails growing sharper and longer and your teeth growing pointed. You gain a +1 bonus to Spellcasting tests with 'Self' targeted Lore of Beasts spells, but you frighten and/or offend others with your presence, giving you a -1 to Fellowship tests with non-magic users. Boar's Hide, Claws of Fury, Lesser Beastform 1 XP
Mark of Ghur You manifest the rune of the wind Ghur on your body, giving you a +1 bonus to casting Lore of Beast spells. Any Tier 3 Lore of Beasts spell 2 XP
