Lore of Life

The Lore of Life is based on the Green Wind of Ghyran, the wind of nature and growing things. Those who use the Winds of Ghyran feel themselves becoming ever closer to the earth, their powers waxing and waning with the seasons, much like nature itself. Their appearance becomes untrammelled, mimicking the untouched majesty of the earth.

Empire Wizards who study the Lore of Life are known as Jade Wizards.

Tier 1

Curse of Thorns

Whispers of the Earth

You gain the ability to commune with nature. You can wade into a river and ask it questions of anything that happened in the last 24 hours, up to 2km downstream; if the river knows, it will give general answers. You can talk to trees- trees do not lie, but they talk slowly and poorly understand the ways of intelligent beings; they may yet ask favours of you or refuse to help if they've seen you and your allies chop down trees. You can ask the earth for information on those who have travelled it recently, giving you paths to follow, but these paths end should they come to artificial earth (bridges, paved roads, the interior of buildings, etc).

Geyser

A geyser of water explodes out of the ground in the targeted area. This is a Direct spell attack that acts as a Blast (2) attack. All within the area of effect take a single Strength 5 hit and are pushed Spell Dice*3 metres in a direction of your choosing; if they suffer an unsaved Wound, they are also immediately Knocked Down. The Geyser provides fresh water for up to an hour.

Spring Bloom

You channel the power of Ghyran into a living creature over the course of time. If cast on a field, the field will blossom with life and produce an abundant harvest in time. If cast on a plant, the plant's growth will accelerate immensely, showing about a year's growth for each hour you spend. This spell can also remove blight from crops and

Winter Frost

This is a Direct spell attack that acts as a Blast (2+Spell Dice) attack. All within the area of effect take Spell Dice number of Strength 3 hits. Anyone who suffers an unsaved wound from this spell suffers a -2 penalty to their Melee, Ranged and Agility tests until the end of the next Ranged phase.. Finally, the area also counts as Difficult Terrain for the rest of the Encounter.

Arcane Marks

Form of Nature Your form becomes strongly influenced by nature- your skin might take on bark tones or green tones, your hair grows wild and vine-like, moss starts to form on your skin, and so on. You no longer need to memorise the Whispers of the Earth or Nature's Child spells, and you gain a +1 to Spellcasting if you are in woodland or lush earth, but you gain the Flammable trait. Whispers of the Earth and Nature's Child 1 XP
Influence of the Seasons Your power and physical form wax and wane with the seasons. You may reroll a single spell dice once per turn, and you gain +1 Spellcasting, Toughness and Agility in Summer. But in Winter, you lose 1 wound (to a minimum of 1) and take a -1 penalty to Agility. Summer Heat, Leaf Fall 1 XP
Mark of Ghyran You manifest the rune of the wind Ghyran on your body, giving you a +1 bonus to casting Lore of Life spells. Any Tier 3 Lore of Life spell 2 XP
