Yanmei S Investigations

[22:14] <Yanmei> The barracks. Yanmei hadn't made her way to this area very often, and had certainly never had the opportunity to poke around in the belongings of the agents who lived here. Still, she entered confidently, her shoulders thrown back and eyes already roving about for clues.
[22:18] <Dorian> [The barracks was, indeed, home to the Section-2 agents, as well as the security offices and, of course, their weapons armory! Yanmei knew how armories worked, thanks to her training in the shooting gallery, which was a little far away, of course. But there was a receptionist and everything.]
[22:23] <Yanmei> "Hello, sir!" Best smile, as she approached the receptionist. "I was wondering if you've seen anything suspicious around here recently? People trying to slip in where they're not supposed to, or items being misplaced. I'm investigating a crime, you see…"
[22:24] <Dorian> ["Hm? Ah, right." Said the receptionist coolly. He took a dim view of -fun-. "I suppose you'd like to see who signed in and what weapons were taken out recently?"]
[22:25] <Yanmei> "That would be helpful. Thank you very much for your cooperation."
[22:25] <Dorian> ["Sorry." Said the man. "Miss Simon said I wasn't allowed to show anyone."]
[22:26] <Dorian> [it must be noted, at this point Yanmei might espy the shit-faced grin-face of one Mr. Vimes. That infuriating S2 racer… He was in the corner.]
[22:30] <Yanmei> "You won't make an exception~?" But she was distracted. Damn that guy. And what was with that smug expression, too? "Failing, that, how about a quick look around? Do you have the authorization to allow that?"
[22:31] <Dorian> ["I cannot -disbarr- you from looking around. Merely cannot show you these reports."]
[22:33] <Yanmei> "Then I suppose I'll have to take a hands-on investigation report." She smiled and nodded before breezing away to do just that. "Thank you for your time."
[22:34] <Dorian> ["You're welcome."]
[22:43] * Yanmei avoided Vimes for now. She wasn't particularly in the mood to be taunted, and she had a feeling he would do just that - although for appearances sake, she did nod politely in his direction. Hell… just where was she supposed to start, anyway? She supposed anywhere would do.
[22:46] <Dorian> [Where would that be? Yanmei did have access to the armories, if not to the receptionist's files. And the barracks themselves… Would she search the agents' beds? Their lockers? That would take an awful amount of time.]
[22:49] <Yanmei> The armory was worth a shot, she supposed. Anything was, at this point! So that was where she headed.
[22:51] <Dorian> [The armory! This was where the weapons for the Agents and NERV personnel were kept -all of them fully loaded lethal weapons, unlike the ones in the training room.-
[22:53] <Dorian> [Yanmei would quickly note that… Well, weapons were in fact missing. A revolver, assault rifle, and two other, melee-based weapons (NERV had the policy that one could never, ever know what one might fight)- a sword and a staff.-
[22:54] <Dorian> [Furthermore, she noted that greatest of sins- a sniper rifle had been, apparently, taken out and returned… But hadn't been unloaded.]
[23:00] * Yanmei tsked at the sniper rifle. How careless! But… how much did all of this missing weaponry really tell her? Section 2 agents were usually armed, weren't they? And as far as the sign out list went, was that just policy, or was Simon covering her tracks? In any case… she backtracked with this new information. She'd sweep by Jeanne's office, possibly ask for directions to her locker, and then mosey away to the next area after this.
[23:05] <Dorian> [Jeanne's office! The door is unlocked, but not open…]
[23:07] <Yanmei> In she went, discreetly closing the door behind her! Although she was a little surprised that the head of security would leave her door unlocked. What would be waiting there? A desk? Monitors? She would try to look at everything!
[23:10] <Dorian> [The room was… Perhaps surprisingly decorated for such a mysteriously scary figure like Jeanne Simon! She had several filing cabinets (all locked, unfortunately), and a bookcase that, whilst some were filled indeed with books… One played host to a collection of-
[23:11] <Dorian> [Plush toys. A teddy bear sat next to a Sherlock Holmes plush toy, whilst an EVA-04 plush toy stared at Yanmei, its creepy yellow glass eyes glinting off the light of a… Computer! That was on, a text file open.]
[23:12] * Yanmei first… turned the 04 plush toy around so that its eerie glass stare faced the wall instead of her. Then she leaned over the computer to examine the open file.
[23:18] <Dorian> [The text file… Jackpot!-
[23:18] <Dorian> [It was a list of information, sent over by that damned receptionist.-
[23:20] <Dorian> [Then, two things happened together in quick succession.-
[23:20] <Dorian> [Someone knocked on the door, very firmly.-
[23:21] <Dorian> [And then, Yanmei found out that the 04 plush toy was a little top heavy… In the back. The vibrations of the knocking sent it tumbling off the bookcase, and straight onto her head.]
[23:27] * Yanmei …squeaked loudly. She wanted to do more than that, of course, but she had the presence of mind to clap a hand over her mouth before it could turn into an ear-splitting scream. Goddamnit, 04! She tried to take a deep breath.
[23:28] <Dorian> [EVA-04 stares up at her. STARES.-
[23:29] <Dorian> ["Miss Simon! Miss Siiiiiimon!" Marianne called.]
[23:32] <Yanmei> "Oh-oh. It's only Marianne." She tittered. Backed away from the doll. No, no, she wasn't frightened of it. It was just a plush toy. That would be stupid. Heh. Heh heh… her footsteps quickened, and she opened the door just a crack, revealing herself and putting an index finger to her mouth. "Shhh…"
[23:33] <Dorian> ["…!" Marianne frowned. "Y-" She caught herself and whispered. "You're here looking for clues, too?"]
[23:35] * Yanmei nodded, opening the door wider so that she could come in. "I'm done here, but you can take a look around too. Better do it quickly before she comes back~" She slipped out into the hallway.
[23:36] <Dorian> [Marianne slips inside! Yanmei is now out in the hallway, having had a rather successful info-gathering!]
[23:38] <Yanmei> On to the next area! The Guest Offices of NERV HQ! She did so slowly at first, but then the leaden terror wore off bit by bit and a spring returned to her step. Mission #1, successfully completed!
[23:40] <Dorian> [Next up, the guest quarters! They were quiet, attractive places, with a receptionist on duty -here-, as well. All part of the security. The poor receptionist was currently being drilled, however, by an altogether familiar face.-
[23:40] <Dorian> ["And when, exactly, did Dr. Ikari sign in?" Asked Alexandre Fontaine.]
[23:43] <Yanmei> Fontaine again? She resisted a frown. Was someone conspiring to throw him in her path at every turn? Still, she was interested in hearing what the receptionist had to say, so she approached, but didn't say anything, folding her arms and smiling pleasantly as she listened.
[23:45] <Dorian> ["… Dr. Ikari signed in at 10:40 AM, along with that white-haired pilot." Said the receptionist.-
[23:46] <Dorian> ["She signed out at 10:54 AM, heading for the Science lab…"]
[23:52] * Yanmei stepped in there, flashing a bright smile. "Good afternoon! I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, but I'm investigating the same crime, and couldn't help but overhear~ Hello, again to you too, Mr. Fontaine. Now,"-
[23:53] <Yanmei> "Would it be possible to see the rooms of some of our visitors? In particular, Dr. Ikari and Tsubaki Akagi?"
[00:00] <Dorian> ["In the interests of privacy, we request you spend only one minute in each room." "May I?" "No, Mr. Fontaine. Only ladies allowed. In the interests of privacy." "…"]
[00:03] * Yanmei smiled sweetly at him. "I'll let you know if I find anything~ Maybe. If you beg, I might consider it, anyway~" She headed off in the directions of the rooms.
[00:03] <Dorian> ["Nnnn…"-
[00:05] <Dorian> [The two rooms were right beside each other, and unlocked. No one's in the left room, no one's in the right room, which one can Yanmei take~?]
[00:07] <Yanmei> Ikari's first. She had her doubts about the pilot having a motive, but that doctor was another story. Wouldn't her hubby take control of the Paris-2 headquarters if anything happened to Fontaine? She opened the door and peered around
[00:09] <Dorian> [Yanmei is immediately docked points for calling Gendo Ikari a 'hubby'.-
[00:12] <Dorian> [The room is, however, neat, tidy and mostly empty. A single bag sits on the bed- a luggage port, to be exact. It's closed.-
[00:12] <Dorian> [… There was something odd, however. A revolver sat on a nearby desk!]
[00:15] * Yanmei looked startled! She crept closer. Why would a scientist have one of those lying around? Probably a personally-owned weapon. She didn't think that Section-2's armory would loan weapons out to visitors.
[00:16] <Dorian> [… And right next to it was the NERV box with the number engraving. Coincidentally, the same one that was missing from the armory.]
[00:18] * Yanmei gasped! Suspicious indeed! A stolen revolver? She looked around once more for any additional bits of information. Any notes to -hubby- describing her murderous plans in full? She would probably have to move on quickly if she couldn't spot something like that right away.
[00:22] <Dorian> [Alas, all Yanmei can see is a photograph further along the desk! Two adults- one of them the good Doctor on the left, and on the right, a very tall man with a beard and a pair of orange glasses. In between them sat a young, fresh-faced, slightly feminine-looking boy, and a little girl with light brown hair.]
[00:23] <Yanmei> Hm? The Ikaris had a kid? Kinda scrawny looking, but not bad…-
[00:24] <Yanmei> On to Akagi's room next!
[00:27] <Dorian> [Akagi's room was even more empty. A little suitcase sat in the corner, whilst an empty milkshake glass sat on the desk.]
[00:28] <Yanmei> "…" She eyed the suitcase, wrestling with the urge to rummage through it. Probably not worth it. And anyway, the prospect left her a little uneasy. She wasn't like those Section-2 jerks…
[00:28] <Yanmei> Instead, she took a hard look around, trying to spot anything else that was out of place in the open.
[00:29] <Dorian> [Unfortunately, there really was nothing here.]
[00:30] * Yanmei thusly shut the door, heading back out to where she left Alexandre
[00:31] <Dorian> ["Ah. So. Find anything… Interesting?" Asked Alexandre.]
[00:34] <Yanmei> "Well…" she closed her eyes briefly. "You've had a rough time with this silly game, huh? I'll let you have a freebie Ikari has a revolver. One of ours. It's something that shouldn't be in her office? Aw-ful-ly suspicious." She started to breeze past him, on her way out.
[00:37] <Dorian> ["… Hm."]
[00:37] <Dorian> [On to the Cafeteria?]
[00:38] <Yanmei> The cafeteria indeed. She strolled there with a satisfied expression, flipping a pigtail at the start of the journey.

[02:56] <Yanmei> The command center. After splitting off from the rest of the group, Yanmei made her way there, any awkwardness she felt well hidden. She knocked and entered with a smile. "Afternoon! Is anyone here~?"
[02:59] <Dorian> ["…? Hello?" One of the Hares.]
[03:00] <Yanmei> "Hi!" she entered fully, peering around at the crime scene. "Sorry to trouble you? I was just investigating the murder, you see. Would you mind if I asked a few questions about what happened here?"
[03:01] <Dorian> ["Sure, go ahead. That's my job for the day." Said the Hare- a blonde woman with a ponytail.]
[03:05] <Yanmei> "Thank you. You see… I'm trying to figure out what sort of weapon might have been used in the attack. Concerning the security in this area… it's probably pretty tight? Makes it hard to carry anything dangerous in plain sight while entering?"
[03:06] <Dorian> ["Security can be fairly tight, yes. People carrying dangerous objects are required to have their authorization with them, as well as clearance from the Armory."]
[03:09] <Yanmei> And that sort of authorization would be easy for a high-ranking member of NERV to get, I'll bet." She frowned. But that would be too suspicious, wouldn't it? Walking around with an assault rifle, even as a VC…-
[03:10] <Yanmei> "Did you see or hear the crime when it happened? More importantly, did you see anyone coming or going from the command center when it went down?"
[03:13] <Dorian> ["I didn't see anyone go in there. I heard the crime go down, though. Shouts from the window… Then the 'Commander' fell through it." Said the Hare with a wry smile. "Down onto that area there." She pointed at the chalk outline. "There are other ways up there that don't involve going through the Command Centre."]
[03:17] <Yanmei> "Huh? Well… I suppose there are?" She peeked through the window, looking a touch uncomfortable. "What did the shouts sound like? Masculine? Or was it the Commander who was shouting? And how many shots? Were they fired rapidly, or were there pauses between them?"
[03:20] <Dorian> ["Hrm… Male, I guess?" It must be stressed that the window was completely undamaged. "Er, it seemed distorted. But it sounded male-ish. The shots themselves were… Uh. A little rapid. three-fire burst, I guess. After that, nothing."]
[03:23] <Yanmei> "Three shots. Hm?" She moved closer to the window, confused. "Is it… possible to open this thing?" Pressed her hand against the glass. "If she fell through it while it was closed, then she should have broken it?"
[03:24] <Dorian> [As a note, the window was… Rather high up. Far taller than Yanmei was.-
[03:24] <Dorian> ["Er… Of course. If she'd actually fallen through it." Said the Hare, a tad wearily.]
[03:30] <Yanmei> "Yes. Of course," she chuckled. "May I go up to the platform where the shooting took place?"
[03:31] <Dorian> ["Feel free. You'll have to use the Command Centre elevator up."]
[03:32] <Yanmei> "Thank you~" She trotted toward said elevator. Hopefully it wouldn't need a special key or code or anything to operate.
[03:33] <Dorian> [The 'elevator' itself was basically an open, exposed platform with enough room for one person, with two railings. It went straight up at the push of the 'up' button.]
[03:34] <Yanmei> So Yanmei went up! And once there, she poked around on the platform for any more clues.
[03:35] <Dorian> [The platform was, well… It was deserted. There was a desk there- the Commanders' console during battles. And a desk. And of course, a view of the entire Command Centre.]
[03:37] * Yanmei searches around for any stashed weapons! But failing that, she would go back to the elevator and make her way back down
[03:38] <Dorian> [Unfortunately, no weapons here.]
[03:39] <Yanmei> Down she went! And back to the cafeteria, after parting with a smile.
