You May Kill Me With Your Hatefulness But Still Like Air I L

[19:11] <W> [An incomplete, superannuated crime scene. The victim, a supernatural psychopath. W simply didn't know if he could get to the bottom of this. And he savoured that feeling.]-
[19:12] <W> He entered the hangar, clacking along at a busy pace. "Brief me. The less questions I have to ask you, the sooner you can go and I can concentrate."
[19:24] <Ayanami‘Rei> [A young technician had been waiting, and he turned. "The model is a Wasp VTOL refitted for higher speeds at the cost of armament. It went down 85 kilometres east of Grand Bahama. The cause has been confirmed as an internal explosion." He pointed to the rear of the wreckage, which was composed of the tail and a chunk of main hull. "Forensics states that the energy markings are inconsistent with any conventional bomb or firearm, but are closer to that of a positron weapon or an AT Blast. No crew or cargo have been recovered."]
[19:25] <W> "How soon after the incident was the wreck recovered?"
[19:27] <Ayanami`Rei> ["Two days."]
[19:30] <W> "Unusual marine activity in the vicinity when it was recovered?"
[19:32] <Ayanami`Rei> ["No, sir."]
[19:34] <W> "Anything you had to leave behind?"
[19:34] <Ayanami`Rei> ["No, sir."]
[19:36] <W> "Black box or communications logs?"
[19:37] <Ayanami`Rei> ["Recovered, sir."]
[19:40] <W> "Very well. You can go."
[19:41] <Ayanami`Rei> ["Yes, sir." The technician walked off.]
[19:47] <W> "What the hell are you up to, Nagisa…" W muttered when the technician had gone. He proceeded to conduct a cursory examination of the wreck’s condition, mostly concentrating on how extensive the damage to the cockpit would have been and if, indeed, someone could have made it out alive or at least been recovered by the assailant.
[19:52] <Ayanami‘Rei> [The cockpit itself wasn’t damaged, exactly, but the glass was completely shattered. There was blood across the controls…]
[19:59] <W> How much of it would've been washed off was hard to tell. What did the logs say about what happened, and how the pilot had reacted?
[20:05] <Ayanami‘Rei> [The flight logs indicated… That there had been a commotion from the passenger/cargo area. The pilot had called out, asking what was going on. The reaction had been a series of dull, mechanical roars- cries of pain- a thud- and then the sound of an explosion…]
[20:09] <W> The game was most certainly afoot, now. What manner of passengers had the pilot been ferrying? Perhaps the passenger log would shed some light on this.
[20:10] <Ayanami`Rei> [One passenger. Kaworu Nagisa.]
[20:16] <W> Private transport. But there had been something else onboard. Was there anything out of the ordinary in the pre-flight technical and security checks?
[20:17] <Ayanami`Rei> [No.]
[20:26] <W> That might well point to a more convoluted infiltration scheme… or just more subtle. What else was onboard?
[20:27] <Ayanami`Rei> [Cargo, composed primarily of 4 sets of Iron Guard armour sets (w/helmets), four Iron Guard pattern bolters and swords, and the entire body of the ’Tactical Evangelion' in stasis, presumed disabled due to lack of head.]
[20:50] * W just stared at the list for a while, suppressing a fit of laughter. When he'd had his fill of superiority-based schadenfreude, though, he pulled out his Device, tapped a few keys and waited for the connection to route itself through who knew how many proxies. W reached into a pocket and pulled out a short, extendable microphone, and attached it to his headphones. "Uruk High Command
[20:50] * W to Uruk, do you read me?"
[20:55] <Ayanami‘Rei> [Click… Click…-
[20:56] <Ayanami`Rei> ["This is Uruk, read you loud and clear, Uruk High Command." Came a voice.]
[21:00] <W> A slight pause. "Good. Everyone still sane back there?"
[21:01] <Ayanami`Rei> ["Define ’sane'."]
[21:02] <W> "Not bored."
[21:05] <Ayanami‘Rei> ["Then we’re a little saner than usual."]
[21:11] <W> "I have some questions for Worker. Our double agent's gone missing, and a couple of pieces don't quite fit."
[21:14] <Ayanami‘Rei> ["Have you tried finding some edge pieces?" Came the reply.]
[21:17] <W> "I have some, but I need his opinion before I commit to any of them."
[17:09] <AdEvaGM> ["Right." There was an unceremonious -clunk- as someone dropped the receiver.-
[17:09] <AdEvaGM> [A minute later, a voice. "Yes yes? Uruk High Command?"]
[17:11] <W> Somehow, the callsigns didn’t seem so clever when they were used so sincerely. "Hello. You still have the data on the… 'Tactical EVA', correct?"
[17:13] <AdEvaGM> ["Yes yes I do! All of it here and notated, of course, very interesting, very interesting, predictable naturally but nevertheless a feat of engineering…"]
[17:14] <W> "Could you build one?"
[17:17] <AdEvaGM> ["Hm… No, I don't think I could. Not with the material I had on hand, of course. Could I build one if I had those materials? Absolutely, absolutely, but I -don't-. Very rare, very rare."]
[17:21] <W> "I'm dealing with one here that got its head chopped off and -then- escaped from stasis aboard an airborne VTOL. What does that tell you?"
[17:21] <AdEvaGM> ["Oh, the head probably regenerated."]
[17:23] <W> "The circuitry is that easily replicable?"
[17:29] <AdEvaGM> ["No circuity replication needed, for the most part! You see, the Tactical Evangelion is just a special superior concept model of your standard Iron Guard cyborg taken to extremes. So long as its Angel core is intact, it'll slowly regenerate using its AT Field and its implanted S2 organ, and an Iron Guard can probably regenerate its head within a week, which is why NERV keeps them continually cauterised with laser fields. I mean, naturally you'd need cybernetic implants for some of the helmet plating which is -fused- to the head and optical nerves using specialised coupling mechanisms like they use with the A10 clips on the Eva piloting suits that allow the Tactical Evangelion to fully master its own power armour, which is quite a fascinating product. It has an inbuilt positron-powered jetpack capable of sustained flight for up to 180 hours at a speed of 80km/ph, two rapid-firing heavy bolters built into the casing underneath both arms which -are-, in fact, simultaneously equipped with monomolecular-edged 'power' blades that slide out along the forearm, and the armour itself is extremely resilient and capable of applying biogel to the wounds of its wearer, allowing for even faster healing than its Angelic biology allows!"]
[17:33] <W> A pause. "I see. I don't suppose it's much of a riddle, then, how the blast marks on the ship seem to be indicative of positron or AT-based weaponry, with only bolters onboard."
[17:36] <AdEvaGM> ["Of course not, I mean it has an active AT Field, and if you read the battle report posted by Ayanami Rei you'd be able to see just how capable it was of using it, I mean before she neutralised it it was channelling its field around its blades giving them an -even heavier- blow and a -sharper- blade and I don't have to tell you just how sharp that would be, I mean, even an idiot would be able to calculate the enhancement field energy's effect on the cutting strength of the blade in conjunction with the weight and thrust of the wielder…"]
[17:47] <W> "Of course. Even if it was weighed down by something else, it'd still need less than half its energy reserves to reach land, at most two thousand kilometers away."
[17:49] <AdEvaGM> ["Furthermore, it is also capable of AT-assisted flight!"]
[17:57] <W> "Tricky. But I have leads. Thank you. You're all still ready for anything, right?"
[17:58] <AdEvaGM> ["Of course, of course!"]
[18:02] <W> "That's all for now. High Command out."
[18:03] <AdEvaGM> ["Uruk out~"]
[18:06] <W> There were still a few things to ascertain. The damage on the hull should be fairly easy to gauge, regardless of the exposure to masses of water. Most importantly, the direction of the force… was it really from the inside, and was it concentrated, or an unchecked explosion?
[18:07] <AdEvaGM> [From the inside- and concentrated.]
[18:18] <W> And the Iron Guard equipment that were being transported? Were they undisturbed?
[18:18] <AdEvaGM> [Mostly. Apparently they'd all been undisturbed except the container holding one of the bolters.]
[18:45] <W> The next thing he'd need was a map, one that he'd pull up on the terminal with the other data. After some quick calculations, he zoomed in on the map on the radius he'd determined, stared at it for a while, and then put it away again. He stared at the wreck for a moment, and began walking off urgently, contacting his designated pilot. "Get yourself in gear. We're leaving. Yeah, there's
[18:45] <W> nothing else here. No, it's still urgent. I'll tell you when we get off the ground."
[18:57] <AdEvaGM> [The technician was standing outside of the hangar, leaning against the wall. This was his posting, of course, and he couldn't exactly leave it.]
[18:58] <W> "Right. Hey, you!" W looked at the technician. "Have it taken apart, check every inch. I'm done with it. I'll be expecting a personal report when I get back."
[19:00] <AdEvaGM> ["Yes, sir."]
